View Full Version : Help! Trying to choose a boat! 09 Outback or 04 Mobius LSV (My first boat purchase)

So I have found 2 boats that I can buy for the same price range. Right at about 20k (don’t know if that’s high or low but I feel like it’s fair).

The mobius is could use a little interior work, but is otherwise decked out. Ballast system, perfect pass, and a ridiculous lighting and stereo system, subs, speakers all 2018 JL everything. 650 hours on the boat.

The Outback has 400 hours on the boat (motor was just replaced with new), also has perfect pass, no ballast system, and speakers on the wake tower as well. Interior is in perfect condition.

The problem is, I feel like the outback is a much better deal, but I think I would rather have the v drive. I wakeboard and like the possibility of surfing too, just not sure what to do here so any help or advice would be appreciated if you’ve ridden or been pulled behind either model!

Should have posted this sooner because I don’t have much time to decide now...please give any opinions you may have!

vdrive. only decision for us. I wouldn't spend a dime on a DD. they are great for waterskiing and marginal at all else.

and I'd buy it today. at those prices they will be gone in a day or 2 if they are truly trying to sell.

Thanks! That’s the way I’m leaning, just starting to 2nd guess it because of how clean the outback is, and with a brand new motor to boot.

Don't touch an Outback or any DD for surfing. Outbacks were designed before the surfing craz so they were never designed for excess weight and list. I had a DD for skiing and it still took some bow waves with no weight added.

I understand that. Do you think that price is a fair price for the 04 LSV? 21 foot not 23

04 lsv for 20k will sell all day long. if you don't buy someone else will. I would say its priced right IF motor has good compression and runs well.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it! We are dropping it in tomorrow, when I go to (hopefully) buy it and going to give it a test drive. Anything in particular I should look for? Or try? Just to make sure it all works accordingly?
