Hi, just curious how much additional weight, over stock ballast, most of your run in your late model Supra's? Surfing 95% of the time. Small crew 500lbs total with another 100lbs of gear. How much lead should I buy?
Cheers!

Well I guess that depends on your boat. My boat is older and I’m running 3400lbs water ballast and 500lbs of lead I move around for the goofy surfers. We mainly surf

I’m running 950, but I run light on crew most days. Probably 200 in equipment/cooler/anchoring. SA has 4000 subfloor. With crew I’m at 5500 total ballast.

Alright this is good info. I have 600lbs already just wondering if it would be enough. Sound like another 2 or 3 hundred wouldn't hurt

You can always take it out. No replacement for displacement when it comes to wake. Just don’t exceed allowed boat weight. Consider the weight on your trailer as well.

You’ll never wish you had less. Haha

I figure for every two people beyond my wife and I, I can sacrifice a bag, because human weight is transient. If the weight is evenly distributed to allow the optimal pitch and roll, and allowing autowake to work without sacrificing more than 20% displacement, than we should be money.

Curious where you habe your lead weight placed? I was going to place 400 under midship benches and 200 in the rear lockers. Assuming pitch b/w 9 an 10 degrees. Good starting point until I get more lead?
Evwn woth 1000lbs of lead we could still have 8 people on board with eqipment and stay under the weight capacity. I think it would be rare that we have to remove lead to stay under capacity. Unless the boat struggles with that much weight? We have the 450 engine...boat hasn't arrived yet.

I’d be careful adding too much lead because you have to trailer that weight. It adds up quick and after you refuel and throw all your gear in the boat you may be over your axle limits. I think you’d be better off with those 150lb small water ballast and place those in seats than to add 1000lbs of lead. Just my 2 cents.

We are fortunate enough to have a marina slip so we don't transport the lead in the boat. But, yes, good advice on trailering!

For when it’s just me and the wife I have at midship 250 port/300 starboard, 200 bow evenly distributed, and 200 rear lockers evenly distributed. If I need to limit bow rise, I’ll pull from midship and Vice-versa.

‘19 Helix - 2x wakemakers 1050s, 1 800 lb and 1 650 manual fill bags, I think the mid and bow sections hold about 700 and 500 lbs lead.
