I have a 03 Outback that seems to run way to rich. Lots of black on the back of the boat. I know Holly's run a little rough when cold, but this seems to be extreme. Anyone have this problem before? Did you drop a jet size? Any ideas? Nice to finally start thinking about boating here in MI.

Check you the float boal screws, they tend to loosen up allowing gas to flow free!

Another issue potentially is your power valve is shot, also causes it to run rich. If it has ever backfired, chances are your power valve is bad.

SE MI. 2 years ago I had it at the local dealer for winterize and storage. They claimed I had put bad gas with no Stable in it and they had to rebuild the carb because it would not run when they pulled it out of storage. It ran like a top the year before wit out this rich condition. It has run rich in my opinion ever since. I have adjusted the float level, mixture screws per the notes here and in manuals. Just looking to tune it up a little.

Check to make sure the choke is working and, when engine is warm, the choke is fully open.
.
Hope this helps,
