View Full Version : do you tow with tower up or down

Hi
I think of get an outback V someday(as soon a the money is good) and I'm wondering if you tow it with the tower up or down also when i was checking the price why is there a royalty charge for the tower??

Tow with the tower up. Towing with it down could put added stress on the mounts with the tower vibrating up and down. Plus the tower could rub on your gelcoat when folded forward. The royalty charge is becuase of how the wording was done when correct craft patended their towers. Evidently they have a patent on all towing devices or something like that.

Yah, up. Tower is definately more stable in the towing mode when all attachment points are fixed
.

If you have a rad-a-cage tower, in which the Outbacks have you also cant turn with the tower down, it will hit you taillights. I pulled mine out of my garage and learned the hardway as I saw peices of my taillight fall to the ground.

Tower up definately.......just be sure to watch those low clearances! :lol:
