Can someone with a 21 supra with a thruster see if they can find a brand on the thruster motors?
It's something I would really like to make for my boat and if I can figure out what they are using for motors I can do all the machine work to make it work.
Anyone know?

I keep thinking about using my Mini Kota and shrouding it in a tube. Mini Kota makes a nice engine mount thruster, 24v, 80lbs of thrust, $900, that looks prime for a diy stern thruster.
Looks like the Supra thruster has 88 lbs of thrust and draw 245 amps.

88lbs each or 44lbs each?

Sorry, I miss spoke, the ezDrive thruster is 88lbs of thrust each, I haven't found the Supra spec.
I see Sonic was all over a wakegarage thread last year on using a Mini Kota for a thruster.
There are lots of replacement motors for thrusters on ebay, might be able to get some info off a serial tag.

Thanks,
I've seen the trolling motor setups but on a boat this nice I want to stick with nicer looking parts.
I really like the 2 separate small motors that supra is using, it's genius vs one larger one IMO.

Hoping someone has one that can see some markings on it, although it might be all in the shroud and not visible.

I will be happy to look when I get my boat in February.

That will give me a month to build one! Lol
I'll take you up on that if no one else is willing to look

Boat could arrive sooner and I will forward any information I can as soon as I can

I came across a discussion about the thruster on PN about the Nautiques washing out the goofy side wave. Only 1-2 comments about it. Curious if the Supra thruster design has an impact on wave dynamic. I await your reports.

I'd assume that the plates on the Supra surf system would shield the thrusters that sit above, from interfering with the wave

Personally, I feel the Supra design as an advantage how it’s mounted inline with the platform supports versus a large unit sticking off the transom on one side.

Far less obtrusive to hull flow.

Maybe you have already looked at engine mount trolling motors, but I'm not talking about clamping a trolling motor to the swim platform. They also sell a dual motor setup with 160lbs of thrust that would work well (with some Sonic fabrication) to mimic the oem Supra setup. Looks like they use 4" propellers that seem in line with the Supra thruster from what I've seen in pictures.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201022/b0cc0a518ea14b5e9c07b804789a3760.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201022/bca5299c3902d5c1cf21b44c9a9447e7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201022/8f450de68e77985a89b2b446b8531d95.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201022/f80e260728a02c2add998e2032cd8019.jpg

Ah no I hadn't seen those, that's a lot of thrust out of those little guys.
They make a 12V version with 55lbs f thrust, so 2 of those would be 110 which is more than the OEMs are putting out.
Hmmm...267 for the motors.....tempting

I don't like that the blades are exposed. I prefer them being encased in housing. It looks cheasy, especially in a 100k$ boat. The OEM's are nice looking, so are the EZthruster for that matter. I think the EZ's look better than the OEM, just lack the integration into the vision software and the gas throttle lever. But, you get what u pay for.

Or you get what you build :)
The motors are just the starting point

Well to update this I ordered that Minn Kota motor and their idea of a 4" propeller is apparently the hub diameter.
It's huge so will not work for this application.

Can you swap out to a smaller prop?

Not rally the whole unit is too big. The motor is 3.625: diameter and probably 20" long.

Wow, I can't believe it is that big. What is the shaft diameter on it? So the prop must be around 12".

Shaft diameter is maybe 1/4" lol Prop is 11"

IMO their photos marketing and language are misleading but oh well. 300 wasted dollars there for sure.
