Picked up a GoPro 8 this weekend. Go some great surfing vids this weekend. The GoPro iOS and GoPro Quik apps seem pretty crappy for making decent videos. Interested what software others are using to make/edit videos.

Filmora9 works great for me. User friendly, tons of instructional videos, cheap lifetime subscription, and you still get updates with new features. I have FilmoraPro too, but that was way too advanced for me lol. I didn't want to go thru a long learning curve.

I just used filmora 9 to edit two videos from this summer. Ill link them below. I dont have the best laptop and it worked pretty well given my limited computing power. The 2nd video I made went a lot fast than the first due to just getting more familiar with the software. It really is pretty easy to use and youtube has a ton of how to videos for tips and tricks.

First Video I made

Has anyone tried DaVinci Resolve?

Has anyone tried DaVinci Resolve?

I have, its intuitive. I like it. Just need to spend more time with it. The free version has all the editing tools you need. There's a lot of cool stuff in it. Just about have to take a course to grasp all the functionality. My laptop just doesn't have the inner guts to handle video editing so its sloooowwww.

I tried it first. I did not find it user friendly. For me, it really doesn't matter how great the software is if I can't figure out how to use it. I used to use GoPro Studio until they got rid of it. I was looking for something user friendly like that, but also offered some creative editing features. Filmore9 was the best fit.

Good to know from both of you! I am looking to get a new laptop and am considering going away from Mac but want to make sure I can still have a good video editing program. DaVinci came highly recommended so I was curious if anyone else was using it. There are a ton of videos on YouTube that make for great tutorials on it and looks pretty sweet!

Has anyone tried DaVinci Resolve?I've used it. Seems powerful (more than I have the time or patience for), but not super easy to use. My laptop can't process it, I have to use my home theater PC, which isn't ideal because I'm sitting across the room editing on a 75" TV. Might have to give Filmora a try.

I think that I also have to share something with the users of this forum. So I will. I have discovered movavi a lot of years ago when I didn't even know anything about photography and videography. I think it was 2014. So after 6 years I started filming videos and using many video editors but stopped at https://www.movavi.com/suite/ (https://www.movavi.com/suite/) cause I realy like it's interface and quality of the video.

I've used Vegas Video for years but Shotcut does a great job for just about anybody who wants to make and export videos in various formats. The learning curve isn't that steep and it opens some file formats that Vegas doesn't. And....IT"S FREE!!

I'm learning to edit videos with FinalCut Pro and I love it. Although others advise me to use Adobe After Effects, they say it has more features.

It's true, Adobe has more functionality and all the top editors use it, but if you're new to it, you're in for a long learning curve.

I have looked into the answers, and I agree that it truly is powerful software, but it is not always a good thing.

I'm a content maker, and I struggled with some issues at the start of my career. One of them was editing my photos and videos, so I tested many editing apps and platforms. Speaking of the editor app, I currently use Movavi. It is free and available for Mac OS and Windows. Its tutorial instructs you to edit your videos professionally.

Being a content maker, I require a powerful app to record my videos to gain more followers. In the beginning, I didn't have someone to advise me about what app I should use, so I just had to test them. Some were hard to work with; others were unavailable for my device. At some point, I considered giving up on everything. I paused for a week until I accidentally discovered an amazing platform. If you are curious, the app is here: https://www.movavi.com/learning-portal/free-video-editing-software-no-watermark.html (https://www.movavi.com/learning-portal/final-cut-pro-windows-alternatives.html). It has exceptional features that no other has, and it also runs on Mac OS and Windows. Thanks to that screen recorder, I have thousands of people following me and enjoying my videos. I recommend this screen recorder for the best videos ever.

Here my latest creation from filmora. I use like the bare minimum of the features but like $60 for a lifetime license is pretty solid deal

For video processing, I use the software SolveigMM WMP Trimmer (https://www.solveigmm.com/en/products/wmp-trimmer-plugin/) - is a tool that allows transforming Windows Media Player into a full-fledged Media Editor. WMP Trimmer plugin allows editing parts of multimedia files directly from Windows Media Player while maintaining intact quality and being lossless in synchronization. By downloading the software, you can create webinars, remove TV ads, censor content for children, create ringtones for mobile phones and many other editing actions for video and audio.

I’ve just used iMovie for years. Comes with any Mac (including iPhones). Not too fancy but not too hard. Endless online videos and support.
