they are pushing hard for a dealer network.
it's got a much nicer interior than a lot of wakeboats when you look at the social aspect of how it's laid out. there's a reason tooners sell like crazy. not likely to the hardcore wakeboat owners that will reply to this thread but look at any midwest lake and see what's on it.
the 2 downsides are price- at 100k+ it's insane when compared to a purpose-built wakeboat but compared to other tooners, it's not hard to get 100k in a tooner with that much hp pretty easy, and 2- surfwave is not stellar but again compared to the wave behind our launch20ssv from the vid footage, it's not horrible. interesting that they don't show the regular surfwave. I think there's still some development to do.
it won't hold a candle to any purpose built surfboat BUT for the family that wants to chill on a tooner and take an occasional set and are not training to be the next pro rider, at a 50 or 60k price dealers would be lining up to sell.

The part that gets me is that it’s a mono-hull design, which takes away all of the toon ride quality advantage.

I know making a toon hull surf is likely impossible. I get that. So if they have to go straight mono hull, how can it not surf like a regular surf boat? Just slap a toon top on a good surf design.

I get the market for them. Honestly toons are a one trick pony. Social mom boats.

Get one to surf and it’s a least a 2 trick pony.

Add a full bimini, grill, pontoon diving board... Ive been looking at these for awhile. Should have grabbed one last spring when it was down in the $80's :)

I don't see anything wrong with them honestly, they aren't terrible looking like a Heyday, they don't have all the crazy gimmicks of the anthem thing, and they seem to have a pretty decent wave.

I don't think people are buying a pontoon for the ride quality they are buying it for the space and layout and usability of it.

If you can get 80% of the wave of a surf boat and 100% of the useability of a pontoon I think you've got a winner.
Just my opinion.

My uncle has a lake house that we take the boat to fairly often, at the end of the day way more people end up on his nice pontoon than they do on my much more expensive much prettier supra. The toon is roomier, easier to get in and out of, has more storage, is faster, quieter, and just overall better for just hanging out than a wakeboat. People end up in the supra when they want to surf. If you could make the toon surf well enough for most people honestly no one would give the supra a second look other than to say man that's pretty!

I'll go wake boat all day because I love the sports associated with it, but in my experience 90+% of people prefer the toon.
Just my 2 cents there

We tend to have a number of older and much younger generation who come out on the boat and basically occupy space (and make a mess). That sounds like the perfect strategy.

But I doubt it it will EVER surf better.

It's so purdy. Cant' wait to get out and try to kill myself a few times. I'm going to have to make some mods to my board racks though - probably bring the old "long horn" back out again.

I personally owned a tritoon for several years, and on our rough lake it was the ride quality. I put up with its ugly ass for that reason alone. Nothing better in big waves.

If they rode like ass I would never have one. It’s their most redeeming quality to me.

White cap conditions and heavy holiday boat traffic killed any possibility for decent surfing today :(. Good news is surf plate back at 60 fixed the scar and smaller wave issue I have been fighting the past few outings.

This was obviously at sunrise when conditions are usually the best. But, most of our lakes are quite small so they typically don’t get so windy that you can’t ride them.

Apparently I need some lessons in foiling. At long rope right behind the boat you really feel the prop wash throwing you around. I'm not as good at this as I thought I would be after taking 3 attempts just to get up and going.

https://i.imgur.com/7dmA1O9.png

Quickly learned that once the foil breaches you're toast.

https://i.imgur.com/f4DCJCs.jpg

This is how most of my rides ended.

https://i.imgur.com/g44Itqc.jpg

Except for one where I tried to go on my regular surf wave and surf length rope. About 10 seconds into that ride I almost landed in the boat, on the rear deck and the board took a nice ding I think from the back cleat and the wing bit the swim platform. Talk about sketchy...

So much for weekend plans on the water. We were going to be staying near the left red arrow. Yale lake park has been filling up by 8am every weekend - busy place. The right arrow is (was?) one of our other favorite spots on Swift Reservoir.

Our house is about 15 miles Southwest from the edge of the Green 'Be Alert' border - about at the blue outlined guy walking sign. Then about 30 miles to our south there's a whole other big mess of fires burning probably 20 times the size of that one.

Our friends lost their cabin in the Lionshead fire. My house is about 5 miles north of that 211 highway sign. We are at level 1 and probably won't go to level 2, unless winds pick up and shift. About 500,000 people have been evacuated due to the Riverside fire. Crazy times.

Sad for sure. We went through the little town of Detroit the end of July, Detroit lake is absolutely amazing, and we were already scoping a VRBO for next season. Pretty much all of that is gone now... Right where the Beachie Creek and Lionshead fires meet.

I'm glad the weather is changing to help the fires but am also realizing that means boating season is wrapping up around here.

Hopefully with the winds dying down we can get these fires under control. We had a Sunday Willamette River day scheduled but the Oregon Marine Board has basically banned boats from the river temporarily.

Being one of the boots on the ground, those fires aren’t going out until the snow flies. NOAA is predicting a La Niña year, so might be earlier than expected.

Yes and I would normally agree 100%, but after having a miscarriage in January and the fact that one of my best friends wives started “spotting” a few years ago after surfing pregnant made me very nervous about it.

She’s been a trooper though, pulls me around the the lake every weekend without complaint but I know she’s been jonesing to surf all summer. Next year I’ll make it up to her while driving with a baby boy on my lap!

Awesome Videos!!! How are you liking the addition of the ladder? How is it holding up?

Ladder is holding up well and gets a decent amount of use. The biggest problem with it is forgetting to put it back up and for some reason, I am the only one in my family and who can figure out how to put it back up. Even after a few times cruising 20+ mph with it still down, it is still rock solid which surprised me because when I screwed it into the platform the screws felt like they were going into Styrofoam.

We bought private party from a family in Meridian who ordered the boat from Prestige last year. Chad has been really helpful. We intend to stop by and do warranty transfers before heading back to Reno.

Water conditions were nice today! Heck probably nicest of the season lol. It was nice not seeing many bots out that’s for sure. Water temps are starting to drop here. It was 79 degrees which is about 4 degrees cooler than 2 weeks ago.

I love this camera perspective

The real deal is finding the perfect spot. Hard to keep a 700 straight face dam a secret. Finding a free campground on the water is more difficult.

Nice vid! What speed are you running?

Reason I ask is it looks like you’re really having to stand hard on the gas pedal (aka left foot) to keep the push. Maybe take it down .5 mph and see if it’s more comfortable so you can focus more on turns and such. As you progress with turns you’ll start getting a feel for pumping the board to get back in the pocket, and can speed it back up. Just a thought...

Speed was 10.8 (paddle wheel). When I got to 10.4 in the last the wave was steeper but felt more mushy or not as firm. Kind of like I was just sinking into it. I’ve tried 11.4 as well the other day and it seemed to also have less push. Yea I’m having to press really hard on my front foot regardless of board used. I’m not sure how many more trips I’ll get on the lake this year but I will try 10.4 again and see how it is. I’m going to add another 500 lbs via lead bags next year to hopefully help along with losing some weight. I can feel push but I have to work very hard at it and my leg catches on fire lol.

Ok for some reason it looked faster to me, but I’m gps speed vs paddle wheel so not sure if there is much (if any) difference.

I just watched the video again, your foot placement looks good, maybe more bending of the knees and less at the waist if that makes sense (trying to keep your torso upright).

TBH I need to verify my speedo is accurate using my phone. You're not the first person to say it looked fast. Could be the 60 fps making it seem that way being smoother video but idk. I verified it up to wakeboarding speeds when I had my triducer swapped out last year. Perhaps I need to tweak the settings some as I think I can adjust it small increments if it's off.

I also think i'm going to swap out my 540 midships and put the stock 1k rear bags in their place before I add lead and see how that looks.

Yea I see what you mean about my stance. I'll try and remember next time. Thank you!

HAHAHA! Ya very true! Thanks for fixing that!

Ya it really did make for a relaxing morning. We just listened to music and hung out is some "No Wake" zones letting the fishermen navigate the fog.

First rides in the new whip. None of me surfing though. Forgot my password to my GoPro since I hadn’t used it in 7 yrs. Stampede Reservoir near Truckee, CA. Swell surf setting #1, auto wake on, 950# of lead. Winds 4-5 out of the west. 6188 ft elevation. Water temp 66F.

No we have a few friends with lake houses on Conroe that really wanted us to buy there but we are just not a huge fans of the lake. It is a great lake distance wise for day trips but as you probably know unless you are out there crispy early (which is my favorite time) or late in the evening it is just a very choppy lake. Weekdays are much better but we didn't want a place that you could only enjoy on the weekdays. So our new place is 1 hour and 45 mins north of Conroe on Richland Chambers Reservoir.

I’ve been there several times during the winter, and every time the temperature and snow comparisons between Boise and Reno, Reno is worse during the winter.

But, since my wife is from Texas, any temperature below 80 is freezing.

The day finally came. We picked up our new to us 2017 Craz Surf Autowake 2.0 with 124 hours. Could not be happier that we were able to find a Moomba with modern surf tech locally let alone one that is in near perfect condition. Seller was going to sell off a bunch of ropes, boards, vests, etc. separate and he tossed them in for us. He was happy to see the boat going to someone who researched and targeted Moomba. On the way is a factory surf pipe (not taking chances with mine or anyone's kids), JL tower speakers, Gatorstep (the old rubberized stuff gets insanely hot in a hurry).
29097

We quickly turned around and put a few hours on her. We got surfers up first attempt at making a wave and had a great time. Still got some things to learn about making the best wave on this boat but we are stoked with our success. Thankfully our weather should give us the opportunity for a few more rides before we say good buy for a few months.

We were there in 2017 when we first got the boat and were just getting in to surfing. Just couldn't get enough, and surfed well into September. You need full kit in that lake at this point for sure, 6-8mm,booties/gloves/cap. My BIL was drinking straight from the lake. No water bottles required he said!

It's all about quality over quantity now though, early mornings or late evenings to avoid as many people as possible and probably not going in if isn't above 17C/63F water temp. Great to hear your friend enjoyed it.
