Sold my 18SA, it was tough to let it go, just been an awesome machine the last 3 summers. It’s going to a great home locally.

Ordered a 21SA today, content isn’t final as we are waiting for the online builder, but locked in a December build slot.

I tried to build a 20, but it was too late. So 21 it is.

Cool the prior boat is going to be local.

Noticed a post today by a local dealer in KY. He was telling people to get their build slots locked in for 2021 because he might not have any more when boat show season starts, so do not wait.

Congrats

New build slots are filling fast for sure. Still a hot boat market.

Some cool things in the 21’s, I saw pictures of the lazer pecan/khaki/black gatorstep and it looks amazing.

Some new colors too and eliminating the orange metallic.

I did notice a $450 “foreign materials” fee that is new.....lol

Jealous of the flip up observer seat and the in floor cooler.

wtf is a Foreign Materials Fee? Markup for pieces coming out of china?

As soon as the new online builder goes live, I will post what I am building.

All companies are getting hit with tariffs from Chinese materials.

Certainly. I just find it funny that rather than switch to american suppliers which was the idea behind the tariffs they are just passing the cost increase directly to the customer and using the Chinese suppliers lol.

larry_arizona
08-24-2020, 12:03 PM
I work in automotive, that’s the intent, but it’s not easy to undo Chinese suppliers, we changed some, but it’s difficult.

Skier’s Choice is such a low volume manufacturer so it may cost more to move.

GM pick up at a volume of 1.7million per year makes sense, Skier’s Choice is at 1200-1500 boats per year.....might not make sense.

Similar colors, sticking with pacific blue but changing the metallic from eclipse black to midnight blue metallic.

Interior is going to either be pacific blue and black chill tech or pecan and black chill tech.

But doing the laser pecan/khaki/black gatorstep.

Let the fun begin, just throwing some combos together. The smurf blue vinyl is taking some getting used to. Combined with black it works better.

The builder doesn’t do the laser 3 color pecan floor justice. It looks so much better in person.

The chill tech vinyl is the real deal. I rode in the black and red PWT boat from 2019 on a sunny 95f humid day in direct sun and the black was barely warm. No discomfort on bare skin:

They claim black chill tech is 10f cooler than white non chill tech.

Go with that dark interior. It looks awesome! We have the pecan (dark brown) interior and it does not get warm in the hot sun we had all this summer. The chill tech is the real deal for sure. I would not hesitate to get a dark interior from Supra.

Agree, with chill tech there is no fear.

Just taking my time getting used to colors.

Safe bet: pecan or pecan black combos.

Ballsy bet: black and blue combo

But the all black with blue accent is baller.

How hard is the black to keep clean? I know you don’t use any UV or boat interior cleaners on the chill tech. Only 20:1 dish soap and water.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sure do. Some are glad all the new Supra guys migrated over here. I noticed your post too.

It's mostly disagreement on the NEW boat designs/lines - they like the 90s/20s shapes; boat technology - too many electronics; boat prices - too high; boat options - not thrilled or do not see the value in the current options, etc.

Been like that for years . . .

I took a shot at a troll in the trolls thread, and got some backlash, I deserve it.

But still, the new boats don’t belong there.

How hard would it be to leave the classic Supra forum as is and simply call this the moomba/Supra forum?

I found the moomba forum, but there are many new Supra owners that have no idea of this group.

The biggest thing with the all black is sunscreen especially if you allow spray on the boat which we typically don’t but I did once and it did get everywhere. The good thing with the chill tech is it is very easy to clean. Use the dawn dish soap mixed with water. Spray it on and scrub then use a different rag with clean water to rinse it off and it is done. Nothing else is needed. We were in shasta for a week in the high 90’s and yes sitting still the vinyl gets hot but once it has ant type of air flow over it or even sitting on it the heat dissipates quickly. Most boaters have towels laying around so it really isn’t an issue. The other nice thing is you can see the sunscreen and sweat that gets built up vs white. I don’t clean every trip but if we have a lot of people on a day sure it needs to be cleaned but isn’t that part of the fun of owning a boat? Sorry about my pics earlier I cannot get them to post properly.

Sweet build. The Blk/Blu and graphite combo looks bada**, and yet classy. You already know I prefer the blue Seadek over the brown for your color combo. I like the brown SD with white or red based color combo's. Those laser cut blue accents on the SD just pop and tie it all up nicely, it all flows. I wish they had that on the '20.
That's a main differentiator from the Moomba line, now that Moomba has GS pretty standard. Whaddaya think, 5 years before laser cut SD comes to Moomba.? That seems to be the lag time for premium options to get passed down.

I dig it, looks very clean! We did a similar design on our September build; the outside is the same only with black logos and on the inside black and blue on the seats. I had to commit to my colors back in August before the configurator was released but I think I'll be happy with the outcome.

At this point you have to go full "Baller" with the wheel inserts. That boat looks awesome.

I still have concerns about the dark chilltec though.

In floor cooler and steering wheel controls are definite highlights.

Maybe in 2022, zoned - heated bench seats, memory captain's seat, and windshield tint options. Or, residual ballast system to replace under seat lead, and Apple watch surf system integration.

I tested black chill tech in 95+, hot and humid full sun and it was just warm against bare skin, so maybe 120f.....

I have full confidence in it.

One cool thing the captain seat does is when you start folding tower, the seat auto lowers and slides rearward so the tower won’t hit it.

The steering wheel buttons are backlit too, nice nighttime feature.

The 20's do it too but only if you have the key on which is completely ridiculous as once you put the tower down you can't reach the key to turn it off lol.

he reached out and said skiers choice doesn't want em posted publicly. I have not been at the SC factory for over a few years, but have been told they built a new building next to the existing one for a showroom, offices, meetings, R&D boats, etc. Not sure it's open to the public, but may be for tours (when they start again).

But you are right, no pics/cameras in the factory.

SC isn’t out of line for their request of no cameras etc, I know the Automakers do the same thing. Seems to be a manufacturing industry standard.

I did find an older SC plant tour video on YouTube as well as Malibu tour and not terribly different. But the risk of a prototype boat or proprietary process being exposed is worth having the policy in place.

Having photographic evidence of worker safety violations in the public domain along with proprietary processes would definitely impact future litigation. I can see the concerns from the lawyers, and anyone having a build done should be thankful they get any photos at all.

Woulda ran down there this week to see my boat finish up as I am off for holiday break anyways.

Not a big deal, headed to Lake Norris in June and will plan a SC tour then.

I think production must be running but guessing office crew has holidays off.

The brown does look good too though. Not to knock on the brown. SC does have a video of a Smurf blue SA interior with the brown GS. It's a top view from a drone of parking boat on a dock or something. It looks really good, but to me, the diffference maker is that almost fluorescent blue accent on the GS that matches the blue accent on the upholstery so well, it just Pops!
I would have gone with Gray/blue GS too, for resale, its just an eye catcher.
I wish that would have been an option for my SL. It would have had to be a Pecan with red accent for it to work, SC does not have that. With Larry's build, the GS grey matches his blue/gray interior and the blue accents match also. It works perfectly.

I was at the Supra/Moomba Reunion on Dale Hollow Lake (TN) in the summer of 2019. This was before customers could buy white letters. The boat tied up next to me was a 2018 or 2019 SA in the raspberry flake, white tower, white accent on the hull, and tan interior. The guy painted the black lettering on the boat white to match the white tower and hull accents. White letters on that raspberry flake looked really good. First time was able to see the white lettering.

Chill tech boats come with a spray bottle and a bottle of dawn. 16oz water and one drop of dawn.

If Supra is sending the boats with this cleaner.....it seems they are not kidding around about only using it to clean chill tech.

Ha, I ordered the liquid Lumens, SC just missed it. I give them a pass though as it was a late add due to the option finally becoming available. But SC is making it happen.

SC is shipping my dealer the parts to swap them out.

Some more observations of the new SA.

1) sound system is really nice. One JL 800/8mvi runs the 4 8.8M6 towers, one JL800/8mvi runs cabin (2 8.8M6, 2 7.7M6 and 2 6.5M6) and a JL 1000/1mvi runs 2 JL 12M7 subs. 2600 watts is decent.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210207/aadc61d5d3cb33f9680177759e6318db.jpg

2) all 6 ballast pumps are arranged in same area forward of fuel tank (might explain why fuel tank is 3 gallons smaller) easy access through center floor port and floor cooler cubby (4 screws and cooler cubby comes out)

3) Engine access is outstanding. Main engine hatch is large, transmission hatch is large, side locker dividers are simple, and surf locker engine cover comes off with two screws. This will make service items like engine oil changes, trans and V drive oil changes, raw water pump impeller, spark plugs, and winterization even easier and less messy.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210207/7ab13d4a3076ebc6081e189382fe132b.jpg

4) hinged seats and storage is insane.
It’s easier to say the only seats NOT on hinges are the main cabin rear corners, bow filler and sun deck filler. Sub floor ballast should be standard on every boat.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210207/a0d8009ce8c72f78e6b386b9cb0119e6.jpg

5) The in floor cooler is my favorite. Just need SONICS bottle/can chute option. Come to think of it, the tower needs a billet bottle opener mounted.

6) The new frameless windshield does look high end and the compression hinge on the walk through glass is NICE to prevent it slamming shut. Should be easier to tint.

7) Gatorstep really is an upgrade in looks and feel. The GS has a nice “cush” to it.

8) Captains chair is sweet, great fit, solid side bolster support, fixes the dreaded tower crash to the seat, side cutouts to let you sit sideways, you can still swivel seat appx 45deg.

9) New steering wheel is nice, definitely an automotive feel, heated rim will be nice in chilly mornings/evenings, back lit buttons, surf plate and and speed adjust on back of spokes. My only complaint is the SW stitching SHOULD match the interior stitching.

10) Thrusters, no comments yet other than they package nicely and the vision system and throttle integration are brilliant.

Looking forward to figuring out the thruster capabilities. They draw far less current than the other brands “yacht” thrusters.

There are 5 settings: off, port hold, starboard hold, port burst, starboard burst.

Hold modes are driven by the touchscreen, burst modes are from the twist throttle.

There are also 3 intensity settings (hi, med, low)

You can only use thrusters when under 5mph.

Black flake for main panel. Dark graphite rail interior, with white base, and red accents.

I did enjoy the Malibu. Had a plush feel to the interior, great lines, with a 450. No quality issues at all. Bought the 2015 23 LSV in 2019. This was our first wake boat even though I learned to surf behind a G23 which can spoil you. Malibu wave was good for beginner and intermediate surfers. Hearing issues with Malibu quality over the past couple of years. 2015 Malibu was well built. The newer versions have more weight, but you still have PNP bags that limit storage.

Supra SA will compete with the G23 with the wave. G23 is steep with push. Supra doesn't cost as much as G23, but excellent performance. Malibu is a good wave, but more for the middle of the road surfer. At 5800 lbs. with 3500 lbs of ballast with a deeper hull, wave performance is measurably better than the Malibu. Walked onto a Supra SL and Malibu 23 LSV at a boat show. Loved the Supra SA at the dealer. The interior and the 2021 features are top of the line. Subfloor ballast, more storage, heated seats, bow space, transom walk through (bought filler cushion), rear facing seat and table, JL speaker system, lighting, and a great tower. Malibu tower puts the speakers a touch farther back. Need to really blast the speakers. Also, give me JL over any other speaker system.

Not married to any manufacture or what is popular at the lake. Married to quality, feel, and performance. Must do your homework when buying a wake boat. Also tested the MC NXT24. That was a solid boat.

Supra sounds perfect for you and your family. I have to admit, first time I've seen anyone cross shop an NXT line with premium towboats. I had originally looked at the NXT line, but could not believe how spartan and featureless they were. They looked cheap. A bow filler cushion wasn't even available, nor was sea deck/gator when I was looking last year. I know MC builds a stout boat for sure, but I wanted a bit more frills for my 100K.

It's because it says Mastercraft and you can get the newest 24' boat at a decent price. Would rather have new Mojo or Makai. The XT line is similar in price to Supra, the X series boats are way next level in price.

Not much for names here. I wanted to see the top end value boat for Mastercraft. Had already been on a Moomba Mojo. Owned a Malibu so no need to get on an Axis. The NXT is a solid boat. Good wave and with the right lead, wave could be pretty strong. A lot of storage. Like most value boats, a bit spartan. XT had the features but wave is the same. MC's Klipsch speakers were the worst compared to Supra/Nautique JLs and Malibu's Wet Sounds. Only boat I have not been on is the Centurion. Most of my time has been on Malibu and then Nautique G23. G23 owner said the Centurion has a big wave but push is lacking what Nautique and Supra have.

Some people buy name or they just like the way a boat looks and feels. Had a friend try the MC X23 and Malibu 23 MXZ. He didn't like the MC. Had another friend say the opposite. My son liked the MC X23 wave better than the G23 we surf regularly. People like what they like.

I love what Supra has put together. #1 is wave #2 is quality #3 is look/feel #4 is features. I am happy. Just need to try everything to know what you really like.

Completely agree with you about getting out on as many as you can, and I wasn't knocking the new NXT offerings, because if you do want a large new boat, they'd be hard to not look at. I also agree Supra has it a bit figured out with performance, features, quality and most of all, value. Welcome to the show! Enjoy the ride!

They reverberated too much. Just not stable. JLs have clear, deep sound. Wets sounds project well, but they are a bit too clear with not as much bass depth. Hard to beat the JLs with loud music. JL sound is big. I want big on a wave or just cruising with some cool beats.
