First post is gorgeous !! Wish I lived there!! 2 thumbs up!

Zandar has been trying to land that Mexi Roll for the past month, attempting about 20 a day. He lands on his board 8 of 10 times, but always drops the rope. I thought maybe we should try something else one night to give it a break. So we tried a W2W backside 180 to blind which he was getting close to landing earlier in the season. Well, this is what happens when your 10 year old brain is doing a backside 180 to blind and your body is doing a backroll!!! Needless to say his sister had the rest of the night behind the boat while he recuperated in the boat!!

Killer night shots and I wish I had some lights on my tower.

We are picking up to leave today and head back home. It’s been an amazing vacation on Lake Martin. I woke up early hoping to catch the sunrise without an overcast and man did I ever! This lake is so beautiful y’all should visit if you’re ever in Bama.

Tommy, awesome shot and that storm looked pretty strong in the background. Queue double rainbows omg guy voice :D. I like those dock whips for the boat, if we have a place on the water and didn't have a lift I would for sure get some whips. Envious y'all have a place on the water. Maybe one day for us but can only dream lol.

Bob, nice Max and congrats!! I almost did a build with similar color way. Enjoy it and if this is your first v-drive just take it nice and slow and get to know the boat. You'll love it and congrats again!

The water drops off too quickly for lifts in front of our house so we use the whips for both boats. I would love to use lifts instead as the cleanup on the hull is a big job in the fall and now I have two bigger boats to clean up. The lake is pretty clean but there is still a ring to clean up when they come out. I use to pull the MC out every week or so to clean it but that didn’t last long lol!

This was surf plate at 55, wakeplate 0, 10.6 mph.

Have you verified that your ballast is filling completely? As the ballast impellers wear they won’t move water as efficiently.

haknslash

Yea I verify every time by cycling pumps until it’s pissing out the sides. I need to move my stupid ballast sensors up though because my screen always thinks I’m full when in reality I’m nowhere near full therefore I cycle until it pees out the overflow. I know my front bag has a small leak somewhere as I will get a little water in the bilge only when the front bag is used based off my monitoring since new. But it’s not a big leak and never loses ballast water over time so likely at the connection or small hole in my hose. Doesn’t explain why my wave is all over the place from one outing to the next. When I first had the WM upgrade my wave was legit and looked similar to yours but now it seems much smaller and less defined than it used to be while having the same size crew (wife and daughter). Can’t figure out why and it’s pissing me off. Perhaps my plates are not moving to what my screen says they are? Even with the tried and true baseline default 70 surf plate and 0 smart plate I’ve noticed a reduction in wave lately. I’ll try and figure out a way to get the video and post a separate thread on it.

Hmmm, the pics look like it was cloudy weather. Was it windy and choppy? That does have an effect on the cleanliness of the wave.
Passengers? AW? I've always feared AW may dump water to achieve pitch and roll while reducing overall displacement, it'll create desired wave shape, at the expense of wave mass. Could that be it? Then if you have choppy conditions it'll make the wave "dirty".

We would have every flying insect within a mile radius on the boat if we attempted that kind of lighting for more than 30 seconds. It's bad enough with just a few blue led accents.

I was informed that I've been MIA this summer, so here's some catching up.

We had a cabin booked at Lake Billy Chinook, but because of staffing at Oregon State Parks during the pandemic, they cancelled our cabin. So we had to improvise with the truck bed tent in a regular campsite. LOL. (yes, I brought my mini fridge from work and bought a microwave off CL just for the week's trip).

Of course, we had a blast and had fantastic conditions for the trip.

Camping in the above-mentioned truck bed tent was the final motivation I needed to get serious on the search for a truck bed camper. Obviously we need to tow the boat when we go camping (at least 1/2 the time, because we'll do mountain bike trips with the camper too).

So I just got the Travel Lite 800x. Super stoked! Queen bed, u-shaped dinette, 5cuft fridge, microwave, power jacks, toilet, outside shower, water heater, A/C... It's everything we need and is light enough that we'll be able to handle it with the F150.

https://i.imgur.com/IyNMpWF.jpg

And I can actually fit the truck, boat, and camper all behind the fence in my back/side yard. the 40' carport isn't long enough to cover it all, but it gets a lot of it under cover.

https://i.imgur.com/PSiXbVa.jpg

And of course, we still get out on the river here at home a couple times a week...

Good times on the water yesterday. I dedicate this 360 to Greg Berg!!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qk4rmXdn66A

Sadly, things turned tragic for some locally. Right in front of our usual launch, someone was doing 360's in their boat and ejected the driver and passenger (without lift jackets). The driver swam to shore and the passenger was a fatality. The Sheriff boats, Fire Dept boats, dive team and USCG were all mobilized. Water temp was 71 and current was a few miles per hour...

This was with surf side ballast full and with non-surf side about 85%. I double checked with my wife that she drained the correct side and she swears she drained the right side.

Trayson - you suck. JK.

We used to go to Swift years ago but it was always cold and too much debris. How long has that house been there? I don't recall ANY lakeside properties.

When you get used to these high mountain lakes going back to the river is tough.

https://i.imgur.com/dwRvtwL.jpg

These reservoirs used to never have any beaches but since they've been keeping the water low in the last several years they're pretty nice as long as you can dodge the stumps. However if you're not to the launch by 9am on a warm weekend, forget it. They'll be full.

Northwoods. there's like a complex of 200 houses. you go up to the ranger station, turn right, cross the bridge, pass the Northwoods store and there's an entry into that whole community. they're up high on the hill but there's a path from their house to the dock. you have to use the Swift launch that's before the ranger station at the Swift forest camp. Her grandpa bought the place in the 60s!!! it's pretty wild. No electricity but they have propane. I really should have brought my drone and got some better pics of the area.

Yes, I guess they've been keeping it lower and also have been lowering it earlier and earlier in the year. I'm really hoping that I'll get back before they drop the water levels too low to use their dock.

Swapped out my 4’8” Whitey Tidy Nubstep for a 5’ Neo today and can’t wait to try it out. I think I’m going to also hang onto the Big Easy to keep a long cruiser board into the mix and I liked there way it felt. This should give me a nice range of high performance to cruiser and also keep the old Broadcast as a beater board that way I don’t care how it’s treated for anyone wanting to try surfing for the first time.

Maybe in cable parks helmets might be a good idea. I honestly think the helmet is more likely to snap his neck if he lands wrong than it is to prevent a concussion.

as a concussion victim i fully support the use while wakeboarding and doing more extreme stuff. i keep things mellow and sure to try and avoid things. usually have a helmet in the boat for suggested use.

That looks amazing, I had no idea you can cruise the Colorado River in a wake boat!

you can put in at willow beach and go north to the base of hoover dam. lots of hot springs to stop at but its like navigating a minefield with all the kayaks-were talking hundreds. so we went south to try to make it to cottonwood. ran into a couple of guys surfing and several 30+ft offshore boats pushing triple digits. once at davis dam you have to take out. jetboats can put in below davis and go all the way to havasu but it's sketchy from davis(laughlin) to needles. not recommended.
stretch above has depths from 30 to 50ft so you can board easily.

She's 4'11.5". The top pic is my Supra, only about 30% ballast plus 1k lead. Middle pic is actually my buddy's 03 MC X10 with homemade shaper. My Supra wave maxed out is quite a bit taller and longer.

That’s awesome. I think I have my wife onboard with getting an SA. We’ve found a 2019 in a color we’re not completely sold on, and a 2020 that looks good, just need to get a better price on.

It's called Pemadumcook Lake in Millinocket, Maine. Funny thing is the lake can get pretty nasty most days due to the trade winds. The day I arrived the chop would've given offshore boats a rough ride  The next three days while we were there it was flat as could be all day. The day we left, the chop picked up again and it was nasty. I'll probably never hit 3 days in a row of such perfect weather again in my life.

Thanks for leaving it there for me to find! I actually looked at it online several times before I even tried to sell the idea to my GF. I think the interior with the raspberry piping pulls it all together. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200812/9885e518eacecc5c97f1f261e827d50a.jpg

I remember how polarizing the peanut butter interiors were in 2018, now they are the norm.

Gets away from the loud/busy wake boat interiors of the past and moved to a more luxury automotive style color scheme.

I am looking at another peanut butter scheme, but damn the smurf blue could be awesome with a balance of black.

I agree. I was not sold on it initially. My design was red/black. My daughter redesigned it and it got submitted by almost unanimous household decision. Only one nay vote. I really like it now. I still am not too partial to the full one color brown/pecan. As upscale as it may seem, its nice to break it up.

Did a little night surfing a few days ago for the first time. It was pretty cool to finally use all the tower lights. The surfer was lit up like a Christmas Tree, but it was fairly tough for the driver to see very far out. Luckily there wasn’t much debris to worry about.

Cool video @jcarter20.

Was it hard for you to see forward with the tower lights?

Yes it was. I also had the docking lights on, which helped to see about 15’ in front of the bow, but the tower lights didn’t do much in the way of projecting out on the water. In retrospect, I probably only needed one tower light facing the surfer and 3 facing forward. That may have helped. There wasn’t much moon light, so it was pretty dark out there. We put a person in the front to help watch. It was super cool though. I would definitely do it again.

Night surfing looks pretty cool but it would freak me out lol. We never boat at night just because of fear of debris plus illegal in my state and the waters are patrolled, It didn't look like your surfer had any type of reflective device or even w glow stick on. Seems like they would be a must, unless I guess you have spot lights on your boat as well? I've seen those surf boards with crazy LED lighting on them and it looks insane lol

Trying a double surf without enough human or water ballast.

https://i.imgur.com/B4Uknc8.jpg

Not happening.

https://i.imgur.com/uLP2Vb8.jpg

Few seasons ago I had 10 on board and full ballast and we almost had it. However the wind kicked up, big swells and we barely made it off the river alive so had some reluctance to try again being so fully loaded down. The front board sends off so much spray it kind of pushes the back rider out of the wave.

Best boat dog ever. Loves to dive in after the kids.

We had two 100 degree days in a row. The ramps/parks were full by 7:30am and turning people away. We went up to the highest reservoir by Mt St Helens - same one Trayson was posting about. After a day on the water we were just cruising around and spotted a white stripe back in a cove.

Here's one you don't see every day - a first for me.

When u turn power off at the key the seat lowers and pushes back out of the way of the tower. I don’t know if it swivels at all I haven’t needed to move it from facing forward. It’s comfortable to sit in side ways. When I get home I’ll see what it will do?

So since nobody has asked me to stop posting videos of my kids yet, here is what Zandar has been up to lately. His riding looks so smooth!!! That heel side pop he had 0:08 was huge and effortless. He looks so comfortable on the board. It is so enjoyable to watch wakeboarding and even cooler that he is shredding so hard at a young age. I really wish I was able to start that young. He really makes it look easy and smooth, that's when you know someone really feels confident. Thanks for the videos, I love them!!!!

Keep em coming jimmsch! Finally got my 9yr older to ask for a wakeboard. Went and bought him one Tuesday and hit the water tonight. He got up the very first try! Can’t lie, I was a proud Dad. He is super athletic, but this is the first time he has shown any interest in wakeboarding. Maybe after watching Zander he will realize how fun this stuff can be.

Finally got a chance to ride my new Neo today and it’s awesome! I should have done a 5’ Doomswell from the get-go. I think it just needs some slightly different fins and it will be perfect for me. Really fast once I set the edge on the wave it just rockets toward the boat. Wave was looking great a few times today too. Still need to figure out why I get this strange scar on the top of the wave a few times. It comes and goes and just strange. But man when the wave it on it’s ON!

Here's some video footage from yesterday on the Neo. At times you can see that damn scar form on the top of my wave. Other times it goes away. Any ideas what is causing that and my wave to change shape at times? I wonder if my plates are moving or something. Even though we only were able to go to the lake for a few hours before storms and water conditions turned to crap we still had a great time. My daughter cracks me up with these little hidden cameos she puts into the videos lol.

Might be a dumb question, but does it show up when the water is rough? Might changes as the boat rocks, but then goes back to normal pretty quickly.

I'm thinking it might be related to that now that you mention it. The cleanest wave I've ever had was in a nice secluded cove but it was kind of small so you could only go so far before having to turn around. Everywhere else we are usually on big water so it's not the smoothest. You can hear and see the boat rock so perhaps that is the issue. We don't have the luxury of hitting the lakes early or late in the day unfortunately and this year there has been so much boat traffic i'm guessing due to covid and all the boat sales. about 3-4x more boats than in years past.

Unfortunately I'm having to use the GoPro app for editing as my only way to upload. My wife and daughter recently got me a Hero 8 for Father's day to replace my aging Hero 4. Only problem is I shoot in 2.7k or 4k so Youtube will give a better compression from the higher bit rate but the downside is I can't edit videos on my computer since it requires Windows 10 at those resolutions due to HEVC codec. The GoPro app isn't bad and will quickly make a montage or "story" as they call it in the app. It's a bit over the top that what I would normally edit but at least I can get some footage off the camera for now. I need to get another SSD and then I will forcefully accept Windows 10 in my life. I have it at work and hate it!

I bet that is the issue if your hear a change in exhaust noise also. Mine does the same thing when the boat rocks from a wave.

Nice to see some slalom! I was behind a guy yesterday who was pulling a slalom skier which is kind of a rare sight these days on my lake. Kind of made me want to buy a cheaper beater ski but man I'm soooo far out of shape in my mid 40's compared to my teenage and early 20's haha. I gotta be able to work so not sure if I want to take the gamble on blowing out my poor knees these days but man did it look fun seeing the skier rip a few times and send up some spray! How did you like being pulled on the ski from the tower?

RUGER761

Oh I'm still feeling it today! I like pulling off the tower. Half my battle on a slalom is getting my rear out of the water so it pulls you up so much faster. Once up I'm not good enough to know the difference. Now I can say you have to watch the wake still, as its still there even at 34mph, which really isn't a surprise with that much weight/size of boat.

Just got home from a rather epic trip on the Snake River, Hells Canyon area. Air temp upper 90's, water temp mid 70's. Unless you venture up Clearwater river that dumps into the Snake. We found that to be a balmy 54 degrees but my crazy kids still jumped in.

My son getting a little too close for comfort for my daughter who had the GoPro back there to get some up close footage.

It may seem like a crime to tube on this water but it was like that all day long just about everywhere we went... I had them going 30mph at one point and whipping them outside the wake. Like riding on a sheet of glass.

There must be something about the wave forming on smooth water going upstream with a decent current because we had one of best waves ever without being totally loaded down with ballast or people.

I almost rode away from the 3, closest I've come.

https://i.imgur.com/RCtDP1p.jpg

My daughter was playing around seeing how far back she could get on the wave. And kept going. And going.

https://i.imgur.com/gt4Kv3W.jpg

And we pulled off some double surfing finally.

And not just for a few seconds. We rode for a while. Then my son jumped in for a while until he tried to get run over.

Nice wave Z!

BTW I think I finally realized what has been causing my wave to look messed up the past few outings. For some reason I was thinking regular side was 70 but after doing some searching I think default is 65 on that side, maybe even 60 and the goofy side was 70. Can anyone with a Max confirm stock surf tab settings for each side? I went back and looked at some of my footage when I did a demo on a 2018 Max and regular side surf tab was at 60. Wave was small with stock ballast but was clean and did not have a scar on it that comes and goes. I vaguely remember fooling around with higher surf tab settings about a month ago like an idiot and should have kept it like I had it. Last weekend I noticed my regular side was set to 70 which I think is what is causing the scar, smaller and less clean wave than I've had when I first installed the wakemakers upgrade. Now i'm itching to get back to the lake to see if that is my issue. Almost positive regular side tab should not be at 70 and if so that's crazy how much a difference of 5-10 increments can m

Thank you, I finally got my extra 200lbs of lead in (for a total of 600). Yea I think 70 is a little much for regular, I’m usually in the 55-65 range. I don’t recall what the factory preset is though.

In those pics I believe I had:

150lbs in the bow (maybe 200)
100 in the port rear locker tray
100 on the port stringer (bw the rear and midship bag)
50 on the starboard stringer
200 on the floor under the rear bench seat (maybe 150; slightly biased to the port side)
All ballast 100% full
1/3 tank of fuel
one driver and one passenger
Surf tab 60; wakeplate 0; gps speed 11.0

The top one is the original. I use filmora9 to edit all of my pics, and videos. I usually use the auto feature, and then tweak it from there. I dont use the preset filters that often. Also, I rarely take pics with the drone. I get snapshots from the videos, which is what all of these pics are. Ill post a video later, once Im through editing, and splicing them together.

Awesome. So that's back to back wins for him, correct? Or did he win in 2018 as well? Congrats!

Thanks bud,, yes back you back . I tried to enter him into novice division this year, but only 2 kids entered kIds division, so they asked if its OK to put him back in kids again just to have 3 competitors in the division.

He did win in 2018 also, but at the Wootown Wakefest in MA.

You pull the snap shots on filmora 9 too?
