View Full Version : White smoke at the 10hr mark

I picked up my first Moomba on Thursday and around the 10hr mark some white smoke was noticed coming from under the water platform. At first I searched and thought it was just vapor from some forums, but now it's doing it consistently while cruising or surfing
Coolant temp stays around 160-ish
no smoke in the engine compartment
engine runs good and no issues other than the smoke.
Any ideas?

Many people think the vapor from the exhaust is something along the lines of oil consumption.
If you do not have a surf-pipe, once you start surfing you can smell fumes - it's normal.
I would keep and eye on the oil and coolant levels (as Stazi mentioned). Many on here can help if you post that short video.

the surf pipe isn't on this boat- my concern comes from the "smoke" coming out while cruising as well as surfing. Is that normal
I plan on adding the surf pipe at my 20 hour service,
the oil pressure and coolant temp are staying normal, I'll keep a close eye on the levels as well.

I think what your seeing is simply exhaust coming out through the water. Byproduct of underwater exhaust.
Put a surf pipe on it, if it was coolant it would smell sweet and likely billow in clouds.

The raw water cooling loop does discharge through your exhaust.
You can get a lot of exhaust fumes at the back of boat, great idea to get the surf pipe.

thanks everyone for the feedback and info. I'll keep tabs on the levels and as soon as they open in the morning I'll schedule for the surf-pipe install

Looks like normal vapor exhaust to me, My Mojo did the same.
