Hey back on the water again with our 2020 Kaiyen. Still breaking it in but loving it. I'm looking for the GPS Map function on the display but it looks like it is a separate feature that was not included. Anyone know if this is a self-install or something I have to bring it in to the dealer to add? It's not a huge miss but it would be nice to have.

Just started playing with the surf setting and getting the kids up last weekend. What a blast!

Thanks for the info

Greg

I know that gps is an option from the factory, not sure about adding it after the fact. Maybe someone here knows how to add it, but I’m sure your dealer can help.

I’d be interested too depending on cost....

All of the screens have the software built in. There is a thumb drive that plugs into a cord attached to the back of the screen. It’s the same cord they use for software updates. My boat had the gps option but wasn’t working so when I contacted the dealer they told me maybe it wasn’t all the way plugged in or something. I fiddled around under the dash and there it is. Not sure if there is a license agreement your basically paying for to have the option or what but the $3xx they charge is just for a thumb drive with software on it.

If it’s a $300 option when ordering, I am going to guess it’s considerably more from the dealer.

Download Navionics boating for your phone. Its free. And spend a small amount of money on a quality phone mount and there, you have high quality Navi that updates regularly and all the functionality that in screen navi has. That's what I use.

I tried it last night (my wife drove actually) navigating in the dark from the restaurant, to the in-laws, then back to our house. Works pretty damn good, and most importantly I didn’t feel like I needed to hover over her while driving. Now I just need a cell phone mount to put on the dash, vs propping it up with a to-go box full of ribs hahaha
