I got around to installing my Wakemakers Bag Buster upgrade for my Max and the install was pretty straight forward despite having to cut a few holes. I think the hoses they provide with the kit could be a few inches longer as mine have the connectors dangerously close to the midship holes. I reached out to their support team to see if they can provide some longer hoses or there thoughts on why they seem short.
Anyways I figured I'd share a video of the install for any new Max owner's wanting to know what comes with it and what is involved with the install. Can't wait for the water test!!

Thanks man, I know it's a pretty straight forward install but perhaps will help other newbs like myself who are all new to ballast mods and such.
Still no word back from WM on my short hoses though. They did take care of my when I realized my one of the bags with the kit wasn't for a Max but I have not heard from anyone from their support team since letting them know on Saturday. Hopefully they will send me some new hoses at 20" or so in length otherwise I guess I'll just go to Home Depot and find something to hold me over while I order the rest of the stuff for the midship overflow vent.

Spoke with Wakemakers today over the phone and they determined my rear bags were made too short. They are making me some new bags and 2nd day airing them to me.

I got my invoice from Wakemakers on the rear bags and noticed they say “1300 lb Max/Makai” on them as opposed to the 1200 lb you see if using the bag buster page for the Max. I wonder if that’s a typo or perhaps slightly larger bags now?

Got my replacement rear bags today and they fit great. As my luck would have it we have crap weather all weekend and next week :(

Excellent, detailed video. I was wondering how those midship bags don't fill with a head of air if they don't have venting? You always need a place to let the air push out or the bag will never completely fill with water. Is that the case for you? To work properly it seems the kit should include those vents.

The WM bags have vent caps but they are not as efficient as the ones that Skiers Choice use on the 2019+ stock Fat Sac bags. I had to bleed out air as they filled. Glad you enjoyed the video!

After closer inspection the vent caps Wakemakers use is made by the same caps Skiers Choice or Fat Sac use. They are both made by Heyco.

Well I'm finally getting around to improving this ballast system like others have done. I love everything about this kit except it doesn't come with a vent for the midship bags and this has caused me fill headaches ever since installing it. Thanks to those of you on here and the Supra/Moomba Owners group for sharing your insight and tips on adding a vent. Today my fittings and hose arrived from Wakemakers and I decided to make a video explaining the issues and how the vent should hopefully resolve the issue with lots of pressure and nowhere for it to go unless you manually vent the midship, which gets old for sure. That way anyone that runs across this thread will see there is still some improvement that can be made to the Max's WM bag buster kit. I'll have an install video in the coming weeks once I get back down to the boat.

yea, i can access it from youtube. The vents that are in the top of the wakemakers bag (as well as the oem bags) really don't work at all for me. I still get air trapped in the top of the bag. Does that seem to be the case for most people or are those vents supposed to completely allow all the air to come out without unscrewing them? I can't tell if you are suppose to unscrew them to let the air out or if they are suppose to "auto" vent?

You have to loosen them to allow the air to escape. If you look there's a little hole drilled through the threads and once you loosen it a bit it can vent. You then have to tighten them back.
They suck imo
Put a vent line in and call it a day

This is great timing!! We have a 2018 Max and are waiting for a little warmer weather to pull it from storage to make the upgrade as well. Probably easiest to do this all at once rather than install, pull and then have to fix it. Excited to see the next vid.

I know this is an older thread but getting ready to pull the trigger on ordering this kit for my Makai. Quick question - any need to add the side wall stiffeners?
Thanks in advance

I don’t have stiffeners on my 2019 Max. I’ve only had them collapse once and that was I think that happened when my wife took the rollers at a bad angle. That being said it doesn’t hurt to add them and I’ll probably do the same.

I made some for my 21 Makai. The port side was really popping out bad. And just with stock ballast. Just keep an eye on them. I think when they pop out once, it then begins to happen more often. They tend to keep a slight bow or bend in them.
