Fusion MS RA-70 Frozen

I have a 2016 mojo with this fusion powerhead for the stereo. It worked fine all last summer and for a couple of hours yesterday, and when I turned the engine off and switched it to the accessory power with the key, it froze on the start up screen with “FUSION” on the screen. I could not get it unstuck no matter what I did, which included holding the power button down for 10 seconds like the owners manual recommends, and unplugging the power source from underneath the dashboard on the back of the stereo.

I had my iPhone plugged in with the panel access cord listening to music off of iTunes at the time. I don’t know if that matters but thought I would throw it in.

Anyone had this issue?

That headunit has bricked for multiple guys here.

I can't say I'm a huge Fusion fan, my HU has been replaced once and my transom remote twice.

My replacements were covered under warranty without issue but you are likely past your warranty period.

The next time my Fusion HU bites the dust I think I want to try this out:

If you have a transom remote, disconnect the N2K network drop cable from the back of the head and power the main unit on.

Yes I posted mine as well... mine bricked and per kicker: ‘we can send you a new one, but there is no update to the software’... aka, it WILL happen again.

Still have mine in a box, will sell it if you want it. I bought a Bluetooth unit off amazon for $80 and it’s worked great for 2 summers.

Honestly, Ive had great success with Fusion. With that said, I know my number of units on the water is far smaller then Moomba's. I also know that boat brand forums are also a small segment of a brands overall community. So a what looks to be a high number of issues, may not translate into that overall.

One hurdle is that Moomba typically recesses the head into the helm panel. This makes it hard to find a replacement that fits good. This was especially true with the old Fusion 205. The 70 is a little closer to the more traditional single DIM 2"x7" though.

Other solid brands? Kicker, Wet Sounds, Clarion, Rockford Fosgate, JL Audio.

Can you tell me what worked, if anything? I’m having the same issue. Ugh! Froze up on Father’s Day with the entire family on the boat!����

Are you froze on the "FUSION" splash screen?
If so, it is toast.
If not, try holding the power button for 10 seconds. It will reset the unit.

Also try to update it. It may reboot with the flash drive plugged in.

It is frozen on the Fusion splash screen.

I did try holding the power button and cycling the breaker. On the transom it read, “awaiting signal….”

Is there software to download from fusion onto a thumb drive?

I ended up having to install and new 670 head unit. Sounds like I shouldn’t have to worry about it freezing anymore. My iPhone 11 works when plugged in and on the iPod setting, which didn’t work on the frozen unit.
