View Full Version : Wakemakers is Terrible

Ive spent $3200 with them since August, and I dont think Ill ever spend another dime with them.
On 8/13 I ordered the ballast upgrade, and since it said "in stock", I paid $120 for overnight shipping. The next day I noticed the order is on hold, so I contact them. They respond "That BagBuster kit is currently out of stock. We are expecting to get more of those in the week of the 26th", which is a weird way of responding about an item you supposedly make in house, but whatever. I requested a refund on the shipping, since I wasnt even going to be in town when the bags arrive now. The bags dont ship till 8/28, AND I dont get my refund on shipping until 9/2. Really??? Almost 3 weeks.....
Black Friday Deals - I STILL DONT HAVE MY ORDER
11/30 I order 2 boards, and a prop. 12/9 I see my order is still "in processing". I contact them, and find out the Matrix is out of stock, but will be back in stock 12/13. On 1/6 (yes, after Christmas), I let them know Im still waiting on my order. They respond, it should be end of this week or early next week. Im not holding my breathe.
Ive seen others complain about them, and Ive seen all of the excuses. I honestly dont care anymore. Ive decided Ill never do business with them again. I have had to contact them every time. None of these convos would even happen if I didnt reach out to them. Im done :D

Full transparency: I'm not affiliated with WM, nor am I a SM influencer on their behalf.
I'm sorry you haven't had a good experience with them.
I've been shopping with them for 4 years now and never had an issue. Additionally, WM is a sponsor for the Moomba/Supra TX Jam annual owners meetup and they always donate a ton of gear for our raffle that benefits Wake the World.
I'm not excusing their actions, just trying to convey that overall, they do a lot for our community.
Unfortunately the people that need to see your post aren't gonna see it here.
I reserve the nuclear option (social media blast) as a last resort but it is EXTREMELY effective.
You need to share your post on the Supra/Moomba FB group and TAG Wakemakers in post.
As soon as they are open on the west coast and realize they've been tagged in a negative post about their customer service, I guarantee someone will reach out to you to rectify the situation rather than let the post spiral out of control damaging their brand.
Just my 2 cents...

I have used Wakemakers for 5-6 years and they have always been awesome to work with and never had any real problems that didn't get resolved fairly quickly. I have loved working with them.........Until my last order for Black Friday. I ordered a new board and it said "in stock". A couple of weeks later i get no info on shipping so i live chat with them and ask about the order and the guy tells me they are out of stock and it will be a couple of weeks before they get the board in. I ask him why it STILL SAYS "in stock" and he can't give me any kind of answer but says it will be 2-3 weeks and it will ship. 3 weeks goes by and nothing at all. I call and ask about the order and he says they are still waiting on it and it may now be a couple of months. Yet it still says "in stock" on their website. At that point i just cancel my order out of frustration. Like i said, normally they have been great but not this last time. :(

The reason it continued to say “in stock” is so people will continue to order from them.
If it said “out of stock”, people would shop somewhere else.

Someone else had a complaint about this recently. Shows In-Stock, find out it's a backorder. Waiting, Waiting, etc.
I could see this with bags, pumps, or props b/c they will continue to get more orders, request more product to be shipped to them, back-fill orders.
I do not see that on boards. For example, Phase 5 will only make so many boards, so Wakemakers should have a pretty good idea of what they pre-ordered, what is shipped and sold, and what will be shipped to them.
Sort of glad I did not order that P5 Matrix from them . . . . .

Seems like poor business ethics to me.

Seems like poor business ethics to me.Yeah, if an item is truly on backorder they should have an option to "Notify me when product becomes available"

wm had a TON of issues when they first started out for quite a period of time. lack of communication, poor shipping, out of stocks, etc. some of the OG's will remember a lot of drama around them.
cleaned it up and reviews have been positive for several years.
hope they didn't have some internal shakeups that are impacting the business.
on a related note, MLA on here also sells the same stuff. I've used him several times for pieces/parts and his service is second to none. if you are having issues with wm give him a whirl. he might be a percent or 2 higher than wm BUT he answered my emails late at night/early in the am while installing 4 pumps/hoses and relays in my last boat. not many businesses do that.

I'll give them a shot when Im ready to order something else. Id actually prefer to give the business to someone who contributes here. Thanks

Yeah, I ordered my Craz from Rinker's.
Find me on FB: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=799148683
and I'll invite you to the TX Jam event page.
Last year was a blast and Wake the World followed the event so it was one long weekend of awesome riding and then a chance to make some kids smile.
You won't want to miss it and generally rooms at Bethy Creek Resort are sold out the day the date of the event is announced.

Still hasnt shipped. So this will be the 2nd estimated ship date they've given me, but failed to ship it. Of course, Ill have to contact them to get any information. Its just ridiculous at this point.

Hmm. Did you receive anything from your order?
Why not cancel and reorder somewhere else?

That’s why I use Visa rather than Paypal.....if you do not get it a few days after the ship date call visa and complain. At least you get your money back

Its almost comical at this point. Ive been nice up until the last message. I still wasnt rude, but I let them know I was not happy, and detailed why. They responded with....We try to refrain from giving specific dates because it is not always guaranteed.....blah blah blah......then proceeded to give me a new date of Next week to Early Feb..... LOL
And I shit you not, this ad showed up in my email today....Seriously WTF LOL (for those that dont realize, Ive been waiting on the Matrix for 7 weeks now)

MLA will not be able to help you with boards but will with ballast and I think he has props but not sure.
that p5 looks a lot like my old danielo pro model. great board that I use to teach all the noobs we take up. if it rides anything like the danielo, you will love it....
or maybe you will just be able to stare at the screenshot of it on your phone as it'll never ship :p

Sucks that they have issues. I've only ordered from them once, and it was seamless. Ordered a bow sac, and got it in a few days as promised. I need to order a set of panel savers since I just got some upgraded rear bags. It's making me think twice on ordering from them again. I should probably just make some. Maybe I need to search and I can find a thread for some.....

I’ve ordered from them a lot. I had a similar issue when I ordered pumps for my ballast system. Said they were in stock but two weeks went by and nothing. They said it was on the manufacturing side and after another week they substituted it with another brand.
I still shop there and hadn’t had a problem since but I can definitely understand the OP frustration.
I really like WM but it looks like they need to solve this issue or some competitor will do it.

6 years in and no problems with them. One of the ballast pumps was DOA on a kit I got (not WM fault). They sent a replacement right away and didn't make me send the bad one back. I've gone back to them several times since for various parts and pieces.

I was forced to give Wakemakers more business lol. They came out with a bow bag for the Max, and I wanted it. Its not being advertised, because they havent designed a way to connect it to the pumps. I contacted them about it, and the Manager (Bryan) got back to me on price and delivery. Bryan has come thru with everything promised. He said 2 weeks to make it, and at 2 weeks it was shipped. After I received it, I designed a way to connect it to the front pumps. I sent a sketch to Bryan, and he said he thought it would work, and put everything Id need in my cart (hoses, connections, ect.). Everything was shipped the next day.
Id definitely keep ordering from them, as long as Im dealing with Bryan. He has been the customer service Ive been looking for.
