I hate the light grey snap out non-skid flooring in our 18 Max (impossible to keep clean and keep getting air pockets/delaminating), so I’m going to order a Gatorstep kit on Black Friday. Does anyone have any experience with slightly darker grey flooring? Heat during summer is a primary concern as our light/dark grey interior gets smokin HOT.

I got the color sample kit from Gatorstep and will post up pics of those and my boat interior later today, opinions are welcome good or bad!

I can't comment on dark grey but my Electric Blue Gatorstep stays relatively cool...way better in touch feel and temperature that the snap-in.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191112/0a14bdf43de0945bedd929da911c95c3.jpg

i have the light grey standard color i ordered on my 2019. It doesn't get hot to be honest. I also have grey and dark grey seats and those do get hot.

I was asking about black recently. There are some posts on the Malibu Forum about dark colors (black) and multiple people are saying it does not get hot. During the hot days, the floor is cooler than the seats - per what @Jason1973 wrote.

I have the light grey Gatorstep in my 18 and it doesn’t get hot. Now my seats on the other hand get smokin hot! After too seasons, I am starting to notice some dirtiness in the color. All in all I am happy with it though. Personally, I might go one shade darker than mine, but it wasn’t an option from the factory. I have not experienced any delamination issues on the floor, gunnels, or swim platform either.

Thank y’all for the input. Here are some of the color samples:

Silver cloud looks to be the color we have now, so I’m thinking of going with sharkfin. I tried doing a test with a laser thermometer in the sun a few weeks ago and the darker colors do get warmer than the light, but it was hard to get consistent readings with such small samples and a cheap thermometer gun. I don’t think there was much more than a 10 degree difference between the pearl white and whatever the darkest sample was.

Here is the boat (it’s a mess in the pic lol, haven’t started detailing it yet):

I was seriously considering a dark brown wood color, but I’m not sure it would look right with the black/grey color scheme. Any thoughts on that?

I remember when you put that in. You kinda went out on a limb color wise, and it turned out fantastic!

Yeah. No brown. Silver Cloud is what I have. Personally I like the shark fin.

my .02. id go with blue steel if it's truly in the grey family. I'm sitting here looking at my office carpet and it's made up of orange/light grey/dark grey squares and the dark grey are the only ones that don't show the dirt. I bet the darker grey will hold a more consistent color longer. black is nice but bet it'll even show dirt quicker than the darker greys.

that blue would be a tough box to check for me as it's a bold choice but it looks good in that boat.....

I don’t know. Haven’t had it out yet. I just put it in before winterization.

Supposedly, it doesn’t get hot but will show dirt more than a normal gray.

my daddy taught me never wear brown belt with black shoes. I'd pass on the brown above. grey would look better.
imo.

True that!

So I think we’re going to go with blue steel as the main/top color. On to the accent/base color.

It might be cool to add a bit of color to the boat here, my wife really likes “Atlantis” which is a seafoam green. I’ll post up some of the other color samples to see what y’all like. Here’s a couple of examples, though most of these the main color is sharkfin I believe.

We have silver cloud in our Mojo and I won't say it doesn't ever get hot but it's not unbearable hot. And when it does warm up we just pour some water on it and problem solved.

To the OP, we did teak gatorstep on our blue and grey 16 mojo and it really looks good. I get people have negative opinions on that combo, but we really like how ours turned out and that's the important part! Anything will be better than that snap out stuff! Our teak color is less hot than our light grey interior.

that pavati and axis are nice... the pavati is definitely a departure from the usual shades of blue. could be a tough resell but it's nice looking.

The teak floor with the grey seats is really like buying a King Ranch Ford, or any other vehicle with wood grain accents. Personally, I really like the grey floor with some sort of color accent underneath. However, the more I look at that first Moomba you posted it starts to grow on me.....a little. [emoji23]

Nice! I didn’t know they can provide a rendering. Did you call or email to get that started? What’s the word on the Moomba logo, their website says it’s not available?!

So we had another thought.....

On the floor do a wood tone main with blue steel accent, and then for the gunnels do the opposite (blue steel main and wood accent).

My wife likes the bluesteel/Atlantis but I’m thinking bluesteel/black for the murder max!

Btw I will 2nd what others have said about Gatorstep and Jonathan’s customer service, top notch thus far. I’m going to see how it looks with the Moomba logo on the platform as well.

What do you guys think about the colors and logo placement?

RC_Hinojosa

Atlantis screams custom while black says OEM, IMHO.

That being said if you are wanting to keep with the murdered out theme, black would be the way to go.

Now if you decided to deviate and add some color to pop off the black, Atlantis becomes your secondary color. Atlantis would only really make sense if say you had your bimini arms and speaker cans painted since it's not really close to an existing vinyl color.

If temps were of no concern, Black as primary w/Blue, Lime Green or Red as accent would look gangster but that might clash with your vinyls/welt....I can't remember, silver & white?

Vinyl is all grey and black with black welt. I agree with you that having painted accents to accentuate the color would look good, but I think I’m going to overrule my wife and keep it murdered lol. This is a MAN’S boat damnit!!!

RAD #5 from Hula Boat Care is the official cleaner of GatorStep. You should get a lil sample bottle with your order.

Use RCH10 for 10% off all HBC products if you wanna put some under your tree.
