Hello!

I use my factory mooring cover regularly but have been rather frustrated that it doesn’t allow access to the mooring cleats! Doesn’t make much sense to me that Moomba calls this a mooring cover but doesn’t accommodate access to the cleats!

Here is a pic of my pier setup but as you can see in order to tie the boat up I have to run the dock lines and fender lines down under the cover and over to the tie up points but this doesn’t allow me to sinch up the mooring cover tight enough under the rub rail as it should be. When it gets windy I get worried that the wind will get in under the cover and blow it off since I can’t get it tight under the run rail.

Axis and a few other Manufactures includes these access hatch style access points in there factory covers...

Does anyone know where I can find these to buy by themselves????

All I can find are just these rubber reinforcements but I see a lot of manufacturers use the other hatch style???

I would like to just by the hatches and take them and my cover to a local canvas/upholstery shop and have them installed into my factory cover but for the life of me I can’t find that nicer hatch style one???

I tried to find these as well as the one that covers the fuel fill and had no luck. I don't understand why it is so difficult. Maybe contact whoever makes those particular covers.

Not sure about the new covers. My 2015 cover has access for the cleats. Also have a zippered access forbthe full door.

Wonder why Skiers would have changed that?

This is the factory cover my 2021 Makai came with. It has a stitched in overlapping style flap over each cleat. Similar to the fly on a pair of whitey tighty underwear to simply describe them. There is one up front too, just not in the picture. They are on both sides of the boat. You might be able to have an upholstery shop cut something like that into your existing cover. No zippers to ever go bad that way, and they lay down flat when not using them. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230601/cd643d5f6e5575c1873f71248d064c75.jpg

Yea thats how all the newer moombas are in my marina but in 2014 we did not get the flaps like that.

In my experience, I have found the factory covers from many of the boat manufacturers are lacking. We ended up hiring a semi-local guy that kept the boat for a week. Cost about $1600 but the fit and quality is excellent.

Interesting I can get a whole new cover from evolution covers for about $1000
