Im looking into getting a dripless shaft seal for my 06' Outback. What is the best brand to get and where is the cheapest place to purchase this? Is the install difficult? I see the 07' Moomba's come stock with the Vesconite dripless shaft seal, are these good?

Is that just the type of packing, or is new hardware involved?

I would be interested in this. I never seem to get the packing correctly adjusted. If I knew it was no tsupposed to leak at all, at least I could tell if it was working correctly.

if you go and look at skidim.com and look under shaft seals you will see what he is referring to.

i looked at it when i had my last boat, because i had a hard time also getting the drip rate adjusted but ended up selling the boat and the new one has had no problems.

Very detailed review and info for why NOT to do that.

This was ok in the review but I am going to stick with my 12 year old, little drip old school. But I have forgotten how to tighten it :/
This will help.

In 2004, I installed graphite impregnated cord that was the predecessor to the Gore-tex cord. The same cord some 14 years later is still in use, adjusted once in 2012 and no drips required. Not sure why wax cord is still around.
