So this weekend i got out on the lake, looking for help getting some push from my 2019 mondo. My set up is;

750's in both back lockers
500 mid ship
500 up front

I was able to create an awesome looking wave by once i was in the water it lacked push. I was able to have one of the girls in the boat who weighs about 130 lbs surf just fine. But for me at 200lbs i couldn't drop the rope.

Speed was 10.8
Port side (surf side) was 100%
Starboard was 90%
center plate 25
surf plate 65

Can anyone help? i didn't get my pitch or roll numbers, still learning autowake. But i did record all the setting for the wave so all my wife had to do was throttle up.

Jason,

I know you don't want to hear this...but this is my experience:

1) When running stock, I could surf ropeless...but the wave was lacking push.
2) I upgraded the bags to 1140s from wakemakers.(Looking back I should have done the 910s...as the 1140s are too wide and put a lot of pressure on the side panels even with 2 sets of panel savers per side)
3) Here is my setup today for weight:
a. ~900-1000 lbs per rear locker is what those bags are filling with.
b. Stock 1000 lbs up front.
c. 500 lbs of lead that sits midship under the seats of surf side(for people that want a mellower wave we typically move 100-200 lbs up to the nose of the boat)
d. I fill up the 650 lbs bag when we have less than 4 adults in the boat(+ surfer) and have it sit infront of the transmission access panel\rear seat).

4) It might seem like overkill, but here is a pic of the wave from this weekend with 2 people in the boat:

What I will say is with 2 in the boat and not filling the 650 lbs bag...it is still a great wave, but the 650 just adds wave more push and length. My surf settings:

1) Goofy
Speed - 11.1
Surf Tab 65
~25% deployment of wakeplate
I empty about 50% of the rear bag non surf side to list the boat.

2) Regular
Speed - 10.9
Surf Tab 60
~25% wakeplate
I run even weight on regular and just move the lead...regular wave doesn't need the list.

Send me a DM and I can help if you send some pics of what you got. I run the OJ945 prop and typically run 33-3500 RPMs with this setup.

While you're waiting for your new bags - 900 to 1000s as mentioned, they won't fill more than that - fill both rear bags full. Look and make sure they're full, too, you may need to adjust the timers if not. Wakeplate at 0 will give you more push, you should not need it with those small bags in the rear.

On my 14 Mondo, I have extra lead weight distributed evenly, with the exception of 150 lbs I can move easily from side to side if I don't have extra people I can move to the surf side. I also have a 300 lbs sack I put different places, again depending on the number of people. Sometimes surf corner and sometimes in the walk through next to the helm.

Look on the Facebook page, Mitch Pruett just listed a set of takeout bags from his Makai for $180 shipped.

I understand the need for weight, but i have a buddy with a 13 outback that i can surf without the rope with just one 400lb bag. I am struggling to see why i would need to add even more. I have 2500 lbs plus 3-4 adults.

My gut is that it is more technique at this point. with 2300 lbs of stock I was surfing ropeless at 175 lbs with a variety of boards(skim, surf, longboard style, etc). I went 2 months with the stock weight and it surfed with 2-3 in the boat.

Adding all the extra weight helps the hull on the Mondo as with lighter weight it does not surf as well as other boats with less weight. The wave works really well for a 20 footer with weight...but it lacks push without it...unfortunately that is kinda how the boat surfs. It makes an awesome wave if you are willing to play with it more.

Wish I had a better story for you. I guarantee with 6-8 in the boat...you would have an awesome wave!

I have 2500 lbs plus 3-4 adults. The Mondo really responds to weight. I can surf the wave mine makes with zero water weight, so keep playing with it. Start with ensuring your bags are all actually full, and wakeplate at 0.

I bought a set of the 900s out of a CRAZ and it really made a difference on the Mondo. I have the surf edition and all I did was swap out the two rear bags and the wave is great and the bags fill all the way up.
