I am burning so much fuel I am going to need a super tanker. We are running full ballast + 1800lbs more. I just figured out where my tach was, so I am not sure what are RPM at 10mph is, but it has to be around 4500. I would like to get it around 3200.

Should I go OJ945 15X13 or Acme 2419 at 15X12 ??

What prop do you have now... how far do you cruise to ride, do you marina hop?

I live on a lake, just back it off the lift and ride.

Current is the OJ 14.24X14.5

We live on a lake as well, doesn't mean we don't cruise to see friends, sand bar, tie ups, marinas and so on... if you care 0 about top end and don't care that your cruise speed empty will be around 24 or so at 4000 rpms, go with the 15x12.. if you want to maintain some speed to get around, 15x13 or 15x14, which is what I run. Also reach out to your local fellow boaters, they may have some you can try for a day. I had the 1235 on our Mojo very heavily weighted and it was great.

Our lake is small. So getting Around is not an issue. No one seems to want to wakeboard, and I despise pulling a tube. We typically back off the lift, sack out and surf. I want a prop that will perform well for that.

Right on, we wakeboard as well, so that's why I asked. The new OJ 950 15x13 would be great for your boat. 15x12 good, but overkill.. if you have anyone in the area of OJ, they sell them from their storefront cash money at a great deal.

Fuel has been good for my Max. Far more efficient than the jetboat we had. I have the OJ945 wake prop.

Define how much fuel you are burning.

These Raptors are very fuel efficient.

With a mix of Surf, Wakeboarding and pleasure cruising I am in a 2-3 GPH range which is silly good.

I have 2100 lbs of extra ballast, the OJ 945 factory option prop and I am at 3500rpm at 11.4mph fully sacked out. I don't keep track of fuel as much as I should, but I have filled it up maybe 4 times after a 100 engine hours. So figure 2.4 gph with 75% surfing, 5% wake boarding, 19% tubing and a dash of slalom skiing.

I go out for around 2-3 hours and burn 12+ gals that I put in my boat. It is not even in the ball park of what you guys are stating. 2.4 GPH is a diesel trawler fuel efficiency and I am extremes skeptical of those numbers. My last Raptor 400 LSV with a Acme 1617 was no where near that good even after changing from the 537.

That said, if I can get it I will take it with the 945.

For your 3 hour session, are you surfing the whole time? Even the 4 gph is pretty good still for surfing.

Don’t the Malibu/Axis get closer to 7gph?

Yeah, like I said I really don’t keep track all that great. Mostly because I’m hardly filling up. When it’s me and a buddy and straight wakeboarding/surfing it’s probably 4-6 an hour.

I also have 4 under 10 year old kids....so 2 hours out on an evening might involve 1 hour under load at best. So my engine hours involve lots of idling and my numbers are likely highly skewed.

Does anyone have the ACME 2419 or a 15 x 12 prop on a Max that knows the cruising top speed with that prop? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200222/15f39687ec079bb3e2c0abda8f2ea246.jpg

On my SA, at 3900 rpms, it was around 28mph, should be fairly similar on the Max.

no one on this forum is getting a fuel economy number of 2.x if using the boat nonstop. idling, swapping riders and the such sure, but these floating bathtubs are a minimum 5gph and up if you are using them :)

last outing I had 7 guys on in 6 hrs of nonstop running we used 30gallons and I'm not sporting some of the huge ballast/lead numbers others are.

on props, said it before.. acme 1235 is my go to. good out of the hole weighted down and all 3 boats I have had it on have been mid30's top end but cruising for us is usually 25-27mph. unless the lake is glass mid30's isn't a fun ride.

Santa brought me a 2419 so I’ll let you know once the season startsThanks. My Max is set up similar to yours so i'm also interested in how it handles the extra weight at surf speed. I rarely go over 30mph and my lake is small enough I dont need speed.
