Currently looking to purchase a family boat (5-8 people every time we are out). Used for a little of everything, but mostly boarding and surfing. Also, primarily on a small river (need decently high freeboard for others wake), but also larger lake. Hoping for the most comfortable for a crowd and best wake.

Current options are
2005 Tige 22v riders edition (100 hrs since rebuilt motor)
2011 moomba outback V (worried this is to small and not enough wake)
2005 moomba mobius lsv
2001 mastercraft 205v
2004 Centurion Avalanche

Only surfed once behind a friends boat. I had a runabout before, so this would be us breaking into it. Most of my wake experience is behind a lat 90s tige and an early 2000s xstar.

so looks like you are in the market for a budget boat. Buy an older 2006-2008 22.5" supreme v208.

Spacious, good for wake boarding, and with ballast will throw a surf wave that will be good if not better than 100k boat.

The ones listed are what is on the market within 300 miles, in my price range, and clean enough for me to be ok buying.

not knowing anything else about them other than the list you posted for my coin the ones to go look at assuming options/hours/condition/price are all similar would be the moomba lsv/tige 22v/centurion avy.

I'd probably lean more toward the 22v(as I have owned a similar hull and it'll outperform the lsv surfing) or the avy as back in the day centurions were one of the best surf hulls made. outback would be the no brainer if you ski but boarding/surfing any of the others will be a better choice and the mc is quite a bit older and sure it's the same price paying in part for the name on the side. lsv would be a good all around contender. everything well, nothing great.
not sure your budget and location but there are several older mid2000's supra launch 22/24ssv's for sale right now that would be a good contender as well.

good luck.

Thanks! No supra’s Around Mississippi.

In order of price...
2011 moomba outback V -150 hrs
2005 Tige 22v riders edition (100 hrs since rebuilt motor) - 600 hrs
2004 Centurion Avalanche - not sure on hours
2005 moomba mobius lsv -200 hrs
2001 mastercraft 205v -522 hrs ($6K less than the others)

Boat Trader seems to have a pretty good list: 2008 Centurion Enzo SV230, 2007 Malibu Wakestter, 2005 Mastercraft X10 (not sure of your price range).

Got a chance to go look at few today. Looks like I'm narrowed down to a Tige or (preferably) a moomba. Can anyone tell me what years the moomba models changed? I think the lsv and xlv changed in 2006 and again in 2014?

Specifically, whats the main differences between a 2006-2012 Mobius lsv and a 2011 outback V when it comes to boarding/surf.

the lsv hull below the water has been the same from '06 to finish. in '12 iirc they added more freeboard to allow it to lean more for surfing. I don't know much on the xlv but don't recall it changed from '06 to the end of it's run below the waterline. it will be a better choice than the lsv/outback for getting a bigger surf wave but takes more weight.

given a choice take the lsv all day over the outback. unless you slalom a lot you will grow out of the outback in a season.

not sure the tige model you are looking at but the 22/24ve(not v) hulls are some of the better surf hulls of the late '00's. if I was rewinding the clock to 05-10, I would shop tige/centurion for surfing and supra/nautique for boarding depending on what you will primarily do. each will do both but they excelled at something different.

Thanks! Sounds like I’m in the market for a 2006 or newer lsv. Been looking at a tige 22 but it is a V

find yourself a nice used LSV or XLV. great boats for everything you want to do. Not the best at any one thing but good at everything. You can find an 06-09 in the low $30Ks.

Going to look at an 06 xlv gravity games on Monday. Rebuilt engine with 40 hrs on it. Asking 23k, looks like seats are starting to crack.

yea, most of the boat in the 10+ year old range are going to have some wear and tear of the seats/interior for sure unless it has be redone. My buddy has an XLV and i think it is a great boat. It can hold a lot of people and you can do just about everything you need to with it.
