View Full Version : Help Me Decide on Registration Numbers

So the time has come to toss the freebie registration numbers that the dealer gave me with my Mojo and go with something more in character.

I have three main options I am considering. Option A is from 3dlettering.com and is the Pro Emblem in Flat Black.

Option B is from domedlettering.com and is black with a dark gray outline in Masque.

Option C is from domedlettering.com and is dark dray with a black outline in Masque.

Pictures of the options to follow.

As long as it meets state law for contrasting color. The numbers should be readable from 100 feet away. I had the same blue metalflake and used white but then I had a top deck being white.

So B and C are not the same style as A. They are just the standard domed letters and not the 3D flat black hard plastic. Just wanna make sure that’s clear.

B or C. The “Moomba style” letters look the best IMO. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190604/b9702e3fc11b73f3a83bedb171888d2e.jpg

I have numbers form 3dlettering.com. mine are the emblem type in black chrome - same finish as the black chrome Moomba logo. Super high quality piece, they get a lot of comments from other boaters. My issue with them are they they don't match either of the fonts already on the boat (Moomba Logo or Craz logo). If i did it again i;d probably try to match the Craz logo in gel type domed numbers as opposed to the Moomba since it feels like it balances out better to me: that font would be on the bow and stern and the Moomba logo would be unique in the center.

I dont have any great pics, but here is what i have:

I was thinking that they were both the same font as well. On my Makai the only letter they share is the M which is pretty standard(“akai” is lower case”) but still identical that is why I figured they were both the same.

I did doomed numbers. I like the way it turned out, but quite honestly if i had to do it again i would have just matched the font and did flat vinyl. We are talking about registration numbers. When is the last time you ever pulled up to a cool boat and said "nice numbers".. Its the last thing i look at. I spent $100 on mine and really could have gotten away with $20 font matched closely enough on Amazon. Not taking anything away from doomed numbers. They are nice, but for me i wouldn't do it again. I guess i got caught up in the new boat hysteria where everything has to be perfect.

It's childish scribble on an otherwise badass ride...

To me, and I am admittedly OCD, the domed numbers came out awesome....are they the cheapest out there? No. But they go a long ways to completing a look.

There was some site i was looking at where you chose the font, $30 for the set. i tried to find it, but couldn't or i would link it here. I think there was a font so close to the moomba font you couldn't tell the difference.

If I were a dealer I’d be throwing these in with the purchase of every new boat.

Domed Letters are sick!! I would say worth it! $110 delta are you doing the Black Chrome?

You could always “triple outline” them and just use chrome and black. It would look something like this but inverse https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190604/eb0ca447d95d2ca97d15b4694718bf27.jpg

They would be way cheaper going that route and still look great!!

now this is funny.... :)

I can't begin to understand spending over $30 for numbers for the side of a boat. granted the op's original letters are quite a site and need replaced but a few $$ on ebay/amazon will get ya some nice letters that blend better and don't require a ton of cash. I guess if nothing better to spend coin on gets fancy letters but I'd take it to the bank.

this coming from the guy that is spending this friday ripping tint off the windshield of my boat as it's about as easy to see thru as looking out a closed window :)

I think we're 20 but it's a pita to see thru while driving and we normally run with the bow walkthru open so as a passenger you really can't see forward.
I will admit it looks good from the outside but inside it's a royal pita and possible safety hazard.
knowing there's enough hazards on the waterway to watch out for I can't figure out why someone would put something on that would degrade visibility and offer zero benefits other than it looks cool. tint on a car protects the interior but tint on an open air boat?? don't get it.

or maybe I just need underwater lights facing forward to see ;)

20% is where it is at [emoji106] that being said I feel like the Supra Windshield is a lot taller than the Moomba so I could see it being a little bit of a pain. I am looking over mine 95% of the time so it is nice to have.

On my new boat, my bank was teetering on classifying it for something called an “international clause”, probably saying it wrong, but basically if I default, I can’t hide the boat in international waters.

If they did, no registration numbers would be required, just a boat name.

Domed numbers for the win, I matched the white lettering on my “Supra” and “SA400”
