Guess it’s time for a new month of awesome pics and boats!

Yesterday I finally got my break-in hours done with but as my luck would have it I had to take the sisters kids and my daughter out for tubing instead of surfing. We still had a blast and it was good to visit and spend time with family on the beautiful waters of Lake Martin.

Love it! Looks like you have some nice land too. Wave looks real nice and I need to add some midship ballast love to mine. I'm just concerned with losing space as we like to keep out hard cooler in there.

How well does your truck tow the max? Are you able to get it out of the water without 4x4? The barn looks like it has 9' doors? Ive got a 9' door but the opening is 106" from what I've gathered it wouldn't fit a max w the tower down.

Added some rollers to the prop guard for the driveway and campground issues. Going to upgrade to some better casters in a bit, but these definitely help from tearing up the driveway and the trailer.

Thanks bro, he's at probably 50 - 55ft, GPS zero off at 19mph, about 60% of Max ballast in all 3 bags
Now if he can only duplicate it on his toeside

Went out both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday started at 9am, but the water wasn't all that smooth, so we jumped straight to the foil. Took a few runs and then filled up just the Port 1100 bag and started working on my surf foiling. Only about 1/3 of the ballast I typically run for surf. I'm making progress. I might need a bigger wing though.

https://i.imgur.com/X8iLZtz.jpg

Then we docked on the Portland waterfront and had lunch out on the patio of Portland Sports Bar and Grill. Love that we can dock the boat up downtown and have access to great restaurants.

Picked up the afternoon crew at the restaurant, and it was just me and the girls. By early afternoon the river in front of downtown Portland was a hot mess. Rough, crowded, breezy. So we went to the lagoon and chilled for a while. There were a lot of crazy tieups, including one with a couple Supra's where the booze was flowing, asses were twerking and some of the girls on those boats were buck ass naked. Damn, Portland, you crazy!!!!

We didn't need any of that. Just kickin' it with a few of us soaking in the sunshine.

https://i.imgur.com/aIZXy7E.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/L4p5Sym.jpg

Then we tucked away the truck and the boat (it's rad we can fit them both behind the fence still hitched up with the boat still completely under the carport) and were ready to go out the next day.
https://i.imgur.com/0QSBiKY.jpg

The next day I was in the truck as I launched my wife in the boat... she drifted back toward the ramp and tried to pivot out. Didn't work so well as she told me she heard something scrape. Uh-oh. Since we were already in the water, I tested the boat up to 25mph and didn't feel any nasty vibrations... so we made a day of it. When we pulled it out of the water, we saw that a prop repair was definitely in order. Luckily there's a TON of places in Portland that repair props and prices are pretty competitive with quick turnaround and no sales tax. Plus, I have an identical spare in perfect condition, so it'll be an lesson learned for a price.

Thank you for the compliments! Did you order yours with the rear side compartment storage bins? If so you can fit a couple soft coolers in one side and go ahead and add some midship bags. If not then you might as well fill all that extra space with some bigger rear bags and likely get the same effect while keeping room under the side benches. Either way you will not regret adding ballast. My wife hasn’t complained at all about the lost storage because she can see how much more fun I have surfing this year. I’m 6’4” 225lbs and can recover from WAY BACK, even when it’s just her in the boat.

It tows it like a boss with the 6.2L (my wife’s new suburban does even better with the 6.2 and 10 speed auto) and pulls it up the ramp in 2wd no problem. I’ll measure the height of my door and let you know.

End of last season I forgot to fold the tower down and nailed the top frame. Didn’t hurt the boat, just my pride and it bent in the metal header beam enough to interfere with the door rolling up. I had to remove it, heat it with a torch, put each end up on some boards and jump on it/take a BFH to it to straighten out lol.

Hmm I didn’t think about just upgrading the rear bags to 1200 lbs or whatever WM uses for the Max. Then I could use a couple hundred lbs of lead weight for midship to retain storage there. I didn’t order mine with the side storage since they didn’t look removable once you install them. The engine cover tray is a major pain in the ass to lift up much less remove (I still haven’t figured that out short of removing one of the gas struts). To check my oil I’ve been removing the side access panel rather than try to muscle that huge ass engine tray lol.

I was thinking along the lines of 1500lbs per side. I’m not sure if they make anything like that but there is tons of room to work with since you don’t have the trays

I run 1280s from Wakemakers in the rear lockers and have had no issues with the side panels. They are already reinforced.

This was an interesting day. Apparently we have a group that does the "Wasatch Challenge" and this year my dealer was part of it. From what I got this group of 30+ people started the day with 9 holes of golf. Next was the slopes and took some rips on the melting show. Event 3 was mountain biking then moved to wakesurfing. These poor people were wrecked by the time they got to us. We had 2 Supra SA's and I got the 2019 Mojo to play with. Almost all new to surfing and we got everybody up and had a blast. They all skinned it in 58' water

Used to do this all the time. Have her between your knees, feet on the board and reaching around your legs to hold on. She stands up with you. Once you are surfing the pocket you lift her up in front of you and place her on your shoulders.

That's exactly it...here feet on the board in between yours and get started surfing together.

Once you are stable in the pocket...just lift up and over. They think it is awesome! It is really fun to carve the wake with them and get them to feel what surfing is like too!

Refused to bring the tube.....so middle child got up on double trainers first time (despite my lovely knotted line!)

First time surfer never wakeboarder buddy up on his first try (never been THAT successful until then)

Busted out the slalom ski collecting dust in the front locker.....forgot to lower the rope.

Beat the rain and had an excellent day in the water. June started solidly :)

She's gonna be a superstar! :)

Oh...and how is it that your Mondo seems to have a longer pocket than my Max!??!

I did a LOT of tinkering last year to get it working! I run was running the following on Sunday:

1) 3000lbs ballast
2) 500 lbs lead
3) 4 adults in the boat +2 kids.
4) Goofy side I have to list it by draining the opposite rear by ~400 lbs and run almost all the lead on surf side midship.
5) Surfing regular is almost equal weight but just move people over.

If I am running only 1-3 adults in the boat + surfer...I fill up a 650 lbs sack and run it infront of my back seat on the floor. I like my wave pretty steep...so that works...but if you throw 200-300 lbs of lead up front it softens and lengthens it better.

Hope that kinda helps....there are guys that have their Max dialed on here...so i would follow their advice!

Yep, that helps, thanks jc.
Can't resist but post another video in the picture thread...this was last year so the boy was 8 at the time and riding behind a Regal bowrider with no ballast, just an ordinary bowrider with a volvo penta i/o pulling an 8 year old

easier to ollie on a wakeboard because it has bindings forcing it to follow!

Is it really even an Ollie on a wakeboard or snowboard? A big part of an Ollie is sliding your front foot forward. I think it's more like a jump lol.

On a wakeboard yes, you push down wish the rear foot, like a skateboard, before doing the jump. On a surf board it’s basically a jump.

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, after a double header of boating last weekend (and like 20 "almost" 360 attempts with 1 success) I found my back hurting pretty bad. Took the morning off from work (because I have like 6 months of sick time accrued) and even after yesterday's Chiropractic visit, I'm still not 100%. Dammit getting old.

But I'm back at it after work today! high of 96 and low wind in Portland! We're gonna be on the river FO SHO! (and bonus, our water temp will be "up" to 65 degrees! LOL)

But I'm back at it after work today! high of 96 and low wind in Portland! We're gonna be on the river FO SHO! (and bonus, our water temp will be "up" to 65 degrees! LOL)

65 degree water may not be that bad with 96 degree air temp.

Great night on the water. The launch was as crazy as 4th of July. The big Christensen yacht was parked by their launch blocking off 1 of the parking lots so the main lot was crazy full of cars without trailers. Thankful to have crew today that did truck valet.

https://www.columbian.com/news/2019/jun/12/christensen-shipyards-rolls-last-finished-yacht-out-of-vancouver-facility/

On the way back we felt s loss of power and vibration that came on suddenly. Got out the dive mask and found a small branch between 2 of the blades of the prop and a lot of leaves in the water where I must have mulched the rest of it. Thankfully no damage and just an unwanted late night swim. Glad for the dive goggles I keep onboard.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/454901164a2f92ca48d5f4152c864b71.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/9aa502ecb20dac73102924e9397afe72.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/8e5e2e3c4b4bf6e1ecb4a5a5ce73ba2a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/f3ac4e6cb52dde80ee6026a204633be0.jpg

That does not suck. What boat are you running now?
This one was the 2019 SA450. Being at higher elevation and the new gearing Marine Products (https://marine-products.com/) decided to give the 450 a test. Just switched the prop to a 16x12.5 and I'm prettry impressed. Now it was only the wife and I but also had 300 in lead, but it shoots to wake speed fully loaded pretty decent, you do have to use launch.
Without slamming the boat it throws some meat.

We rescued this lil guy from the humane society yesterday to add to our family. We had to put our beloved 14 year old boxer/pit mix down at the beginning of April and it has been hard but now we are ready to start a new chapter with this lil guy we named Tucker. They said he is a shepherd and lab mix but he looks a bit different than those breeds so who knows lol. Love his brindle coat and white markings! He is 3 months old and was the runt of his litter I believe.

The 575's are crazy amazing but you trade off for all that power. The 450 is amazing but you do have to watch your weight closley and not run much extra weight at high elevation. It's a $10,000 saving going 450 but how much is worth the 575 and not worry about anything. I run all my boats pretty much stock and this is PERFECT for how I boat. 450 for the win in my book!

fwiw, my last boat had the ex343 in it. with a 1235 prop. home lake- lucky peak reservior- is at over 5500ft. granted we don't board but surf 1600lbs on surf side and 400 up front with 6 or 8 in the boat and never struggled.
current boat is a 23.6ft pig and loading up with 1600lbs water, 500 lead, 500 in human ballast and 800 water up front. same prop and mead is at 1300ft never even skips a beat.

imo prop selection is just as if not more important than motor selection. I would not hesitate with the 400 but you might want to swap out props.

Is the whole rest of the boat a wrap? How durable is that wrap and how repairable is it?

What gelcoat colors are underneath it?

I think it’s just the platinum color? Whole boat, the black and red wrap are durable but as soon as they chip it’s over. Once water gets under it, it won’t stop. They did a great job with it, I went over it pretty hard, they used sealant tape on all the hull edges. And the top is wrapped over the gunnels. But at the end of the day a wrap is never meant to be permanent

I suppose as long as its under warranty and Supra will service the wrap, it would be doable.

That was my question I couldn’t get an answer to. Do they have spare/replacement wraps? Or the print code so you could have a shop print a new one? Warranty?

Got the boat back from the dealer for my break-in service and fuel pump recall inspection (mine was all good). Also had them replace my triducer because my depth finder would intermittently not work. On the way home I swung by Lay Lake to get in the water even if I was by myself lol. Once underway I noticed my speedometer was WAY off, like 15+ mph off or so. Called my dealer service department and they asked if I wanted to be walked through on how to align my triducer to get the paddle wheel lined up for accurate speedometer but when I told them I was on the water they said they would just send a tech mechanic out to my on the water and he would dial in the alignment while we made some speed passes. Awesome service and can’t say enough good things about Skiers Marine they are freaking awesome!! Oh and while there my salesman hooked me up with a free Doomswell surf bag. If anyone is shopping for a Supra, Moomba or MasterCraft in Alabama, Tennessee or Georgia give Skiers Marine a chance for your business.

With just me in the boat the wave wasn’t going to be a monster but even for stock and only me I managed to make a nice long wave. Can’t wait for next weekend to finally try surfing behind this thing!!

FaceTimed with the wife while she pulled the boat out of storage and got it ready for the water. Reassembling the tower was the most tedious part, but she figured it out.

New truck pulls great and barely sagged at all. Will need to see how it does when it’s full of camping/boating gear, because I might end up adding some Timber Groves airbags to the back for stability and to level it all out.

First time giving this big girl a through wash and clean inside and out. It may be the only time I wished it was smaller lol. That being said 4 hours later in 95 degree heat and she’s looking fresh and clean ready for the next outing! One thing I wished this boat had compared to my Yamaha was a drain channel system made into the fiberglass mold that channels water from around the cushions and dumps it out into in walk way. It’s not too hard to get some water in the compartments but this could easily be diverted with some drain channels.

I can’t say for sure but I don’t think they do. I think they have a spillway that if it reaches a certain level it will spill over but other than that they have 1 pump station that I know they pump water out of the lake into Yegua Creek at. Both are located in the southeast corner of the lake toward Overlook park.

Supposedly they’re still dropping it 1” a day. But if that were true it woulda been back closer to normal pool by now.
However... that lake is really nice 12’ high. You dont have to worry about a lot of the sand bars now and the useable lake is much larger for water sports other than fishing. If they’d just drop it about 5’ so you could get on the boat ramps again it’d be perfect in my opinion.

This seems backwards, aren't dams supposed to make electricity as they dump water, not use it?? Seems like this was not very well thought out haha.

Yeah, I just think like a 12" pipe through the base of the dam with a small turbine generator in there wouldn't have been too expensive (maybe, I admittedly know nothing on the topic) and could provide enough power when flowing to run the Lake facilities. Maybe not though, maybe that would have cost like $300,000.00

So it's not Moomba/Supra, but we had a chance to surf our local pros' 2019 G23 today. What a great wave, and almost infinitely customizable at the push of a button. Great wave, but not an extra $150k great.

Then we took them out and showed them what a 2014 Mondo can do! [emoji23] Actually, they killed it on my wave. Better/longer runs than they had on the G. No pics of that though.

This was the G with zero water ballast, just a couple hundred pounds of lead and 5 adults on board: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190626/e52c3f585601f46204e087b8e1f82dcb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190626/5b24393b7e63a11f5b23a94197c863f9.jpg

So as it sits it’s OK, but again, nothing spectacular. My other buddies MXZ22 puts it to shame. That power wedge is awesome. Instant ballast simulation without any waiting time or need for bags and shit. But that boat stickers for twice what my Craz did.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI don't know, the wave we had yesterday was amazing. My first run the wave seemed like it had a long flat spot right behind the boat. She said, "you want it steeper?" Pushed a button and bam, perfect wave. And only half ballast.

Compared to a Malibu - they burn less than 6 gal/hr in the G. I'll bet the Malibu burns double that with the wedge. That's a lot of $$$ every time out.

But again, a $195k boat vs my $50k boat? Yeah I can't justify that.

I have 2 buddies with 2019 23 LSVs...the wave is great! It is not any bigger or better than my SL, but the ridiculous bow rise in a Malibu and the fact that the boat only turns one direction because the surf tab is sticking straight out the side of the boat...oh and there is no storage in a Malibu at all because of the plug in plays and the hard tank in the bow.

What’s funny is when we’re flying in I still know where the beach was, and the foot of the hills that we would beach the boat up on and eat bologna sandwiches, drink Pepsi and swim (we were poor as dirt unplanned air force brats, but my dad wouldn’t give up the boat! going up quite a bit this year due to colorado snowpack but it's nowhere near what it needs to be close to full pool.
I don't think it'll ever be there again as the more snow runoff we have the less people downstream seem to care about conserving water.

the water rights off the colorado river were sold at a time when the river was in a very wet water pattern that has not been replicated since the early 1900's.

Pull the boat out and get a mean game of hopscotch going as well.

Well, wife tugged the boat all the way to the lake to find out the carb is leaking profusely and it won’t fire. Cranks over no problem but won’t fire. I’ve hit my limit of diagnosing over FaceTime so it will be parked until I get home sometime mid month. But, she says the prop guard casters work great for getting into the driveway now!

Found my FAE snapped a bolt and cracked in 2 places and was the reason my Craz was constantly taking on water.
Glad I Voight it before it broke off completely and sunk the boat!

Calling them tomorrow to put in a warranty claim.

Maybe 80hrs. I hope their warranty is worth the paper it’s written on. Will be calling tomorrow.

Know that I have never hit this thing on anything. Those cracks are from stress from the water passing by it under normal use.

I feel like that is crazy low hours for that kind of damage.

I have a factory surf pipe and I wonder if the “fin” like thing on it helps to neutralize some for the stress it sees where the flange weld is.

He will honor it. I had the crack at the hull flange like yours. I popped it off and ran without the pipe until he fixed it. I had the older flange+pipe setup that allowed removal.

Depending how long they take to send me a replacement, I may have to put the original plastic flapper exhaust pipe back on. I’m not losing weeks of summer waiting for this thing, especially with a 5 day weekend coming up.

Is that factory or aftermarket FAE?Not to knock FAE but the OEM surfpipe just seems way more refined & stout...

I thought the fin on the factory pipe was a step.........JK

I do agree that the fin appears tipped to help counter the load on the mounting flange.

Lol

Maybe so. But I would expect it to be tilted forward to push the pipe down and the water drag pulls the pipe back, up and to port.

After further study of the factory fin..... I cannot see how it can apply a down force.

Possibly it could dampen vibration/harmonic frequency to keep it from reaching natural frequency.

That's nothing. you should have seen how my boat took on water when one of my 3.5" exhaust flanges had the hose slip completely off. I had the bilge and 3 ballast drain pumps going simultaneously and they still couldn't keep up.

Well it was a good and bad session Sunday, 8th time on a wakeboard and took a hard fall on the first set + tore the rotator cuff in my good shoulder. But got back up and landed my first few wake-to-wakes!

I’ll be a full-time driver for a month or so but psyched to finish physical therapy+PRP shots and get back out there!

Whenever I even THINK I’m going to eat shit on a jump, I ditch the rope. NEVER try hold on to the rope to ride out a funky jump. You know when you hit the wake and start getting air, if it’s going to be landable. That’s how you hurt yourself.

A month? My wife tore her rotator cuff and she had to have it fixed via surgery and she was out for 4 to 6 months. It was brutal. She couldn't even cut her own meat at Thanksgiving dinner...

Yup the guys I ride with said I need to figure that out but my lack of water time is probably why I hang on. From now on I’m going to ditch unless I know it’s perfect. It’ll be annoying to pull me but whatever, it’s my boat lol.

It’s a partial, 1.56cm tear so hopefully can get back soon. Ortho calls me Wolverine lol, I heal super fast. Have 3-4 partial tears in my L shoulder and a month or so of PT has healed those by over 50% according to ultrasound.

But either way, I’m not going back out until things are better. Not worth risking a full tear/rupture.

Matt, stand tall at the wake dude. Looks like you have a solid riding posture, you'll be launching big airs and grabs in no time when you get back. Only 8th time? You must have a good riding group, that's awesome!

Yep, working on that and loading the line. Got a little better at it (in videos I’m bending about as much in that pic if less) which is probably why W2W happened...barely lol. Def needs work.

Thx! Rode with a pro the first time out and that helped a lot. And yeah great group, lucky to have a ton of good riders here in central Ohio.
