My Max is Loud. Its too loud for me. I am wondering if a surf pipe will quiet it up?

Yep. A lot. But then you will still hear the engine a bit, but not nearly as loud as he exhaust.

Surf Pipe will definitely help!! Having a boat with one I can tell you it is night and day. I say this because very rarely when taking off (depending on set speed, crew size ect...) or adjusting the wakeplate it pushes the water under the opening of the pipe (or that is what I am figuring it does) and the exhaust note gets much louder!! First time it happened it startled me for sure but 99.9% of the time it is in the water and really quiet. Also you can look at sound deadening the engine compartment.

I went to watch qualifying for the PWT in Katy a few weeks ago and they were pulling with an SA550 with the surf pipe and the only sounds I could hear from shore was the water splashing as the boat went by. Freaking thing was silent. I am a believer now.

Are you taking about inside the cockpit or back behind the boat while surfing or wakeboarding?

For whatever reason my Max is not loud at cruise speeds inside the cockpit. I want to say the 2018 I demoed last year was louder. So much that I was contemplating doing the sound deadener mods others have done but since receiving my boat I was fine with its sound levels. At cruise speeds all I mainly hear is the water splashing and a light rumble from the exhaust.

If I hammer it down that’s a different story lol!

Yep, that's the big flaw with the new models, loud, even with a FAE. The FAE will help, but not like on a LSV.

There's a dude on here that has an install thread who also sells them as a FAE dealer. I got mine through him on my 16 mojo. I would say the install is easy, but it's a knuckle scrapper for sure. Especially replacing the baffle pipe.

Looks like the major PIA is taking the flange off the outside and getting the exhaust hose through. Then a few holes to drill and goop it up?

I can't hear mine over 2800 watts of stereo, but seriously, I can't hear it over the stereo.

Send a PM to corvette8189. Here is a thread with a link to an install:
