Hard to start

I have a 2008 outback. It will start ok when it is cold but after the first start it is very hard to get started. Most times I have to throttle wide open while turning key to get it to start. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. And it is not vapor lock I don't believe.

Is it carbureted? If so check the electric choke and make sure that its opening after warmed up.
