Just a comment from my install of a set of tower speakers before the season started here last Oct.
I like my music "musical" not boom boom or harsh/screeching, also not obnoxious to those nearby (just my preference).
What surprised me once setup was the lovely spacial acoustics that they added, I'd not considered this prior and was a great surprise.
I had originally changed the x6 cabins to Polk and added x2 Polk subs and it was much better than stock, sounded great while seated within the cabin but while floating around the boat or hanging around the sundeck it was a bit "mono" for want of a better word.
The Polk setup used the headunit HP/LP etc to get the desired sound I like, but with the installation of the towers full range is now sent to all the amps and the amps HP/LP's do their thing once I had set them up. Now I've just to teach my kids what real music is!
Just my 2 cents (or is that a nickel over there...?).
