Labor day weekend in Central OR. Prineville Reservoir was fantastic. They'd had a campfire ban since late July, but it got lifted just in time for the holiday weekend. We had a cabin and it was fantastic. The water level was low enough that they had to pull their boat slips out of the water. but we did fine with launching each morning and parking the boat on the trailer in front of our cabin. Temps were about 45 degrees in the morning with 65 water temp. but by mid-day air temps were in the 80s and water temps at 70. So neoprene was mainly for cold air temps in the morning.

The mornings were mirror glass for my slalom run first thing. And because the air was cold, we had the lake to ourselves until about 10 or 11.
https://i.imgur.com/wxUE9hR.jpg

The glass lasted well into our wakeboard sets.

https://i.imgur.com/kqBCkf3.jpg

Heck, the glass lasted through my slalom set, 2 wakeboard sets, and well into the wife's surf set! We called her "Cindy, destroyer of glass".

like I said, mornings were brisk, but the Mountain Hardwear gear kept us warm enough.
https://i.imgur.com/92uoKUB.jpg

The wife got some use out of my JetPilot tour coat. (neoprene hooded parka that you can wear over your wet gear inbetween sets)
https://i.imgur.com/SmKr2L8.jpg
She was also reppin' our friend's hat/clothing line, Apres Babe.
http://www.apresbabe.com/

But by the end of the day, water was 70 and we got to get some use out of our floating saddles. https://i.imgur.com/di2PxzT.jpg

and when the water wasn't perfect, we busted out the Foil and cut through the water and rode above it.
https://i.imgur.com/m4XeUuq.jpg

Even finally got the 360 on video. Lots of attempts and 2 ridden out over the weekend.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KanAcrG_fEU

The boat had issues after 1 slalom and 2 wakeboard sets on Monday (wouldn't go over 3000 RPMs) so we called it early. But All in all a great weekend!

Got both my sons out on the surf board. The little guy was all about it until just before we took off. He started freaking out, but I figured he would stop after we got up. He did not as you can see in the picture. [emoji23] After my older son went and he was able to watch from the boat, he asked to go again. Ha ha. Now this is all they can talk about and can’t wait to get back out there.

Caught a break in the weather this evening so we threw my buddies Craz in the water and got a few runs in. Best part was the nose walk/hang 5 competition at the end when we’re out of gas and draining ballast headed back to the dock. That Doomsy El Jefe board is freakin blast. Lol

Summer isn't over in the PNW, but the rivers are empty of watersports (I saw 2 other boats that actually had people playing on the water the entire weekend). But tons of fishermen.

I spent mid-day Saturday on the shores of a private water ski lake... BUT, it was the site that hosted our big yearly BMW Car show. Cool setting, but of course that just made me want to take my boat out afterwards.
https://i.imgur.com/kEYadjv.jpg

Water like this is what we get when we have the river to ourselves.
https://i.imgur.com/U7cvJ7k.jpg

And then afterwards, filing up the boat at the gas station, I contemplate all the stuff I've got bolted to my tower. haha.

Sunday we went back out again. The wife missed out on Saturday (she chose to do a girls day where they got to do grape stomping and wine tasting), so she was first up for Sunday:

I always try to pose when the camera comes out
https://i.imgur.com/MrrXpn1.jpg

And the sun delivered a ray of sunlight acting as a spotlight on the wife

And even my 6' tall buddy is having a blast on the 4'6" Nubstep. But he looks like a giant.

Now we get a week of rain. Fall sucks. I'm so not ready to let go of summer.

Over the tower board racks (think of a roof rack on a car, but mounted to your tower).

It might not be thick enough to skate on by then but best to be prepared. I sled in Revelstoke and usually the town elevation is still seeing rain and wet snow while the Alpine is getting pounded with snow.

Oh a lighter note (because I need to live in the present and embrace life), I got a last minute text from a buddy of mine that recently picked up a Centurion Fi21. I dropped my Saturday tinkering and Threw my gear together in about 10 minutes and headed out to the launch to jump onboard. The centurion was pretty rad and had all sorts of tech on it (and admittedly he hadn't COMPLETELY dialed the wave), but it helped me be content with my 10 year old XLV. Sure the old XLV doesn't have all the fancy gadgets or even as much weight as the Fi21, but my dialed wave is a lot more fun for me to play on and makes me happier (not to mention all the storage I have with my playpen bow). But it's always fun to get out on new boats and experience what else is out there. And an afternoon on the water is better than doing projects on land.

He got to play on my Doomswell Nubstep and really liked it.

Thanks, really digging hitting up the days the kids are in school. Great way to spend time with the wife and turn her into a proper boat captain. That river looks amazing....the lake I’m closest to has lots of sailboats....that should tell you the kind of water I’m used to. We just hug the shoreline the wind is coming off along with a million other sport boats!

It is a hifi, only other surf board we have is a hyperlite shim that is used by the 240+ crowd just learning. She tried it out and the thing had so much push her back leg cramped [emoji38]. Will have to look into the nub step boards y’all were using.

My new board came in today. Connelly Voodoo 4’10. Holy crap this thing fun. And cheap... do t forget that, otherwise I never would have bought it! Lmao
A buddy bought the 4’6 for his wife and I was goofing around on it. Surprisingly even at 220, I can ride the 4’6, and boost it off the water. It was a blast, just a hair too short, and not floaty enough.
The 4’10, Turns out it is a little surf missile! And it’s obscenely light, I can get little airs every now and then on my Doomsy, but this thing can launch out of the water. It shreds, so far as of today it’s wveryones new favorite on the boat.

Intrigued. I usually ride the fancy stuff. What Doomswell you comparing it to? I have been on Neos in 4-6 and 4-8 and the Sparkplug. Actually loved none of those to be honest.....

But you’re saying this is quicker and has more pop? Curious! Where did you purchase and how much?

These boards are made overseas and frankly how can there be any secrets anymore in shaping? Maybe there is...but what keeps people from copying everything?

I do love my SC and Chaos products. For sure. But I am always up for new things [emoji6]

I was never a huge fan of the neo. It always feels like it’s gonna roll out from under me lol... I dunno if I’d say this is quicker, but it’s definitely more stable when you’re railing on the board. But it’s no slouch, it’ll turn as hard and fast as I tell it to. And it’s nice cus I don’t feel worn out pumping this thing around. It just goes...
I have a Doomsy 56” Carbon hybrid skimmer. It’s been a blast all season. It spins easily, (still haven’t landed that 360 cus I always over rotate) and with drivers it’s a fun surf board and it’s light.
This voodoo is all surf, but it feels like a real ocean board. It will break loose for fin slides on top of the wave, it boosts like crazy, even for my fat butt. The coolest part is how fast it pumps. I took a pretty good header cus I bounced off the wave trying to get my legs poked out on a hard carve. It will almost recover itself if you get in the soft water.
I too am used to expensive boards. Picked this up for $320, can’t tell you who I got it from, sorry. But it’s worth every bit of the $400 on Evo or the like. It’s my new favorite, a CWB of all things.
We were having so much fun with it we forgot to take pics.
I’ll try and get a video if I can get on the water tomorrow.

It rides like a hammerhead but it’s not trying to slide out and/or kill you every time you come down the wave lol. But that’s all I’ve ever really ridden. Hammerhead, my Doomsy, and my old byerly. The neo wasn’t mine, only ridden it a few times but never liked it.
You should see the bruise and knot on my thigh from a botched 360 today on the Hammerhead. I’m limping like an old man, my knee even hurts. I came down hard on my hip right on the back of the board.
If you can find one to ride, do it! You’ll love it. Tons of push

That is the info I was looking for! Perhaps you’re feeling a decent surf feel for -kind of- the first time. Wait till your feel grace the top of something nice and hot—a good Chaos, or SC, or Parker....you may crap your trunks.

We had a party at Lake Powell with 32 kiddos, had a big blob for them and Moes BBQ sponsored.

Kiddos went home on Sunday for school and the dads stayed back... got some Foiling in behind a G23 (no ballast, impellers blew). Updated my bags on the Helix to 1100’s and the wave was legit! Hoping to get back out there this weekend, will get some pics of it.
