I am seeing some deals out there on leftover 18s as the new 19s are rolling out of the factory. Is anyone looking at these boats as a viable upgrade option or jumping straight to the 19s? We got our 15 Mojo as a leftover and great deal and considering doing the same thing and making the leap to Supra. Our local dealer has an SA and an SR, really leaning towards the SR as it would be a great fit for our little family. Thoughts, suggestions? Anyone wanna buy a Mojo? lol....I will most likely trade it in.

I was considering the same thing an 18 SA for a 17 Craz but now think I should wait another year.

I would have to think you could get into an 18 SE at an aggressive price. Still an unreal boat!

I would take that White/Silver SA over the White/Orange SR.
The SA is looks good inside and out.
The SR looks good on the outside (white and orange flake), but the Cleveland Browns interior does not cut it for me. And I'm a Browns fan.

Assume you decide on SA, would you rather have the 2018 (no hours) or a 2017 with 50-100?
With the assumption you will get a better deal on the 17.

I have not been on the SR much, but I would be afraid it would get too small with >2 couples/families on the boat.

We are going to look at them both, but $15k or so difference in price between the 2. I want an 18 with power tower and swell 3. We live under the train bridge in Turkey Creek, an easy tower and bimini is important.

Pretty hard to drive with the power tower tipped forward. But the FX one tower is a huge upgrade from 17 tower

How much are they asking for the 18 SA?
Guessing you could get that near $100k even

Forgot about tower upgrade. That is big if you are going to be moving it.

There have been a few 18s in my cove, so I know it can be done. Yeah, somewhere in the $100k+ range. It has everything but surf pipe, I'll add that.

MJH, I have to raise and lower my tower and bimini every time we go out. Ease of use is a big deal for me.

I've seen my buddy drive it, kinda have to stand and lean over it to drive, but it's doable

Yeah, I'm going to demo it Friday. At around 100k, it's a lot, but such a great boat

It’s a deal on a $130k+ boat.

You won’t get that on a 19

That is what I am doing. Just traded in my crown line for a 2018 Helix still on the lot. After reading and researching I don’t think I could touch this deal at the boat show on a 2019 and the new screen was not that big of a deal to me. I’m not a big tech guy and wanted the other upgrades like tower speakers etc.. just added my signature lol. I see that a newbie needs one.

I also want to pull this move—I have a 2016 SE that is DIALED TO THE NINES. 170 hours.
Would want to sell that first!

The only Max's I've seen for sale (two or three of them so far) have been priced at MORE than my friend bought his brand new one for. Freaking lame. I get supply and demand, but selling for above the new price? No thanks.

Those are people trying to rent boats for a year and get out breaking even, including their payments. I am with you, not paying over retail for a used boat plus have to pay to transfer the warranty over.

That is why I am interested in brand new leftover boats, not used.

Did you see Shane’s 2018 white/red SA for sale on Facebook? Nice ride there. Asking $98k.

Yes sir, Shane hit me up, as well as a couple others, but I can buy brand new for about that. I have not made my mind up but we do have a deal in place if I decide to pursue it. The SA is all that and more. Just not sure about dropping that much coin.

I think most of us think the same thing: the coin.

I’m sure they would want your boat in trade. That would sell fast when you show your wake pics.

That is my other issue, not a thing wrong with my boat. I just upped what I am paying on it every month. I may sell it on my own this winter then throw down on something in the spring, or keep it one more year and see what 2020 has in store. The 19 Max is looking awfully tempting. If they were to put the touch screen in the Max, I would be all over it.

Many years ago I came up with a rule about buying toys. Because let’s face it, very few of us are professionals making money with our toys. Simply expensive hobbies.

Whenever you buy into a toy market (boat, performance car, motorcycle etc....) do your research. Once you decide on the technology and specs that appeal to you, buy that toy and master it to the best of the technology it has available.

Upgrade when you have outgrown the current technology and performance your toy posses if and only if technology has made a significant step forward in a new model.

Unless you have baller money then rules don’t apply.

Well, after much thought and excuses on why we shouldn't get it, it is too great of a boat and too good of a deal to pass up. Our Mojo has been nothing short of amazing. Here's to joining the Supra ranks. Cheers.

I was going to recommend the surf pipe, it’s awesome on the SA. Quiet as a church mouse at 3200 rpm full ballast.

What prop is on it?

If you don’t mind me asking, what is tint cost? Most tint shops in my area won’t even touch/quote tinting my boat.

Hahaha, I may have to change my handle....Larry, there is a guy that does them for $250 or so. He leaves the windows in, goes back around the edge with black 3m tape. Some don't like it looks that, I've never noticed the tape it's so skinny. The SA will have the OJ 945 or acme 2775 (I think) on it.

larry_arizona
08-17-2018, 01:42 PM
$250 for tint sounds very reasonable based on the difficulty to tint the curve. The 18’s have such a nice windshield set up.
