Was one of my biggest disappointments in the new Makai. If you've been on a SL using that as a cooler or as a place to drop in a cooler you realize how convenient it is to not flip open seats to get to the cooler for a cold beverage.

Batteries over there aren’t bad—they are offset by the driver. Maybe could just trade batteries for cooler in the swap. That way people don’t need to stand up/move to get a beverage.

It’s sad that people think the kicker are crap. They are far from crap speakers. When something isn’t tuned or installed properly anything can sound like crap. With a proper amp & A DAMN SUB BOX it sounds great. But you need a sub box & I don’t care what anyone says you will need a sub box on the 19s as well. Free air is horse shit (the kicker sub was never meant to be free air but SC is trying to save a few bucks per boat) I have no clue if the wetsounds is an actual free air sub or not though.

I don't think your amp is tuned properly because I still have the kicker in-boats and they jam, I have yet felt compelled to replace them even though they are the last OE piece in my system.

If you don't have your crossover points set correctly the in-boats are likely receiving frequencies they can't play, then they sound like crap.

I’ve heard Jl’s on a 18 se that didn’t sound the best. It’s mostly in the tuning. An external eq is a must in my opinion

Not disputing that. Sealed is better by far, but if you have to do a free air application the JL does pretty good. It's a true IB sub unlike others being used in free air applications.

It hits hard, has clean crisp sound, one of the best sounding subs I've heard in awhile , only running it at @500 watts too. But the spot where it mounted fit the recommendations jl recommends for free air use. And the boat does have a cabin, that probably helps a little too. Did 4 jl 6.5 cabin speakers , and their sound is amazing, did the 8.8 for the towers and they rock,I prefer the sound of them over the Rev 10s. Personal opinion only

Would you be willing to post a couple pictures of the hinges and specifically the cross braces that the hinges are mounted to next time you’re in a Makai? I’m going to hinge the long rear bench seats in my max this winter and that would be much appreciated!

There’s a physical hull contour where the gel changes color....it would be even more odd to cross that with letters IMHO.

I don’t think the lettering moved, however the rear of the boat got longer.

They would have to be at least $100k optioned out. I see a lot of new options that would add up quickly. I.E. Wetsounds, touchscreens, engine tray covers, 440 engine. I am sorry, I don’t give a crap what anyone says, I would not have a 400 in this boat. In fact, I would go with the 575. When I Wakeboard fully loaded in My Craz, it is all that 400 wants. It never struggles surfing, but I have had it struggle with 12 people, 3,200 lbs of ballast, coolers, etc... big boat = big motor for this guy!

I come from the world of SE450. I know the limits of a 440/1.5 combo--for me it is full 83 gallons, full 5300# ballast and lead, and 4 adult males. Beyond that, we have to make cuts somewhere. BUT, the wave is insane if you can toe that line.

I think the new 460 motor and the 1.76 tranny rewrites this narrative a little bit--you can avoid the 575 upcharge and still get more grunt than the 440/1.5 was capable of. Early reports are that this combo is very impressive. I think for a Makai its ideal...? Potentially.

While picking up some parts from the local John Deere store in North Platte, Ne... Come out of the store to see a Makai rolling down I-80 blue, grey and white, being pulled by a black Chevy/gmc pickup. Was hoping it was going to jump off at the next ramp so I could take a look at it, but no luck.
