Yeah. Been following the other thread. I started this one before but could only post the above screenshot instead of the teaser vid. Looking at a max, I think the new bOat will probably be more than I’m Looking for. I am interested in updates to the max. Would love a PB interior and maybe some seats built into the stern. And a walkover for the sunpad. And maybe some surf storage on the Bimini.

Got some good insight on the new Moomba model coming soon. It’s going to be a beast and made to compete with the ski Nautique and axis A24. And for the Supra guys the SE is supposed to have 4000lbs of ballast stock. Also I was told the new Moomba is supposed to be ready by the next boat show in Dallas which is coming up in July so we should see it really soon

Not hot at all, had upper 90’s and sun last week, the Black gets toasty, but the tans are no worry.

By "ski nautique" are you talking about the nautique ski boat or one of the g series boats(wake/wakeboard models)? And that is a weird statement to compare axis, moomba, and nautique. Sounds like someone just throwing random boats out there. I would think the supras would be comparable to nautique, Malibu, mastercraft. If they are talking wake performance only, maybe the new moomba is comparable, but overall features i.e. Interior, screens, build quality, I just don't see moomba matching up to the others. Not knocking moomba at all just don't understand that particular comparison.

Sorry meant to put air. Your crazy if you think that Axis is built better then Moomba. Axis is as plain as it gets but they do offer a 24ft model which Moomba does not (yet) and reason he was saying Nautique is the walk through design that the new Moomba supposedly has. Few weeks we’ll find out for sure

You must really hate Moomba if you don’t see them matching up to others?

Don't hate moomba at all, they make a really nice boat. I have been on a 13 mojo that had an awesome wave with manual tabs. The pictures on here show some amazing looking waves.

My statement was with some of the features inside the boat. The moomba screen on the dash is about a quarter of the size of a supra, Malibu, nautique screen. Just one example I gave. I said they make a great boat and was not knocking them, just don't think they compare to the other brands in all aspects overall.

Lastly, like I said in other posts I am super excited to seethe new stuff roll out!

I think he thought you were stating Axis was better than the Moomba. Moomba has come a long ways in the last 5 years and has surpassed Axis in every department. The NXT was never in the same conversation and I believe the GS series is aimed at a whole different market.

IMHO: I don’t think you need worry about competing with them on the surf front...there’s not a boat alive that doesn’t need more weight. Centurion included. I know a crew that runs a 257 and adds 1800 to it. 7000#+ of ballast! They say it’s good stock, but epic slammed. Just like anything. In that spirit the SL is good stock, and epic slammed with 1000#+ of lead. The extra magic is the clean switching with true level weight with 3.0. That’s genius!

A few fairly objective people I know, with non-Supra loyalties, say that a 1000# leaded SL is in the conversation for the best wave they have ridden. Slammed Ri257 included.

I just dunno if I buy it... i surfed an SL, it was good, not great, but we also didn’t have any extra weight.
I love my supra, don’t get me wrong. But if centurions build quality had been even 50% better than it was I’d be riding behind one. The wave stock was unreal. I’m curious with everything shifting to surfing from wakeboarding how long it’ll be until another manufacturer goes to a V Hull like Centurion for the extra ballast room and displacement.

Don’t always get wrapped up in ballast numbers. Yes there is no replacement for displacement. However, hull design and surf system technology is a big player also. G’s out of the box are 2850 I think. Now do you want to add more to that, of course.

There lots of storage. Most of the weight (around 3000#) is subfloor with the Ramfill. And the weird part is there’s even more storage if you go to the Fi version. It’s got little storage lockers everywhere lol
It’s just a shame that the boat is falling apart already before you even buy it.

The Fi dash is full of rat holes and the drivers seat pedestal struggled to hold my immense 250# of weight. Reinforcing would have been required.

The rear facing seat is sloppy. At $100k it needs to be better.

I was able to fit both our impact vests under the port side seat, our bag had to go under the observer seat on our demo.

The FI does have slightly more storage under the seats but the RI has more under the observer seat. Both make killer waves out of the box which should be the case seeing as how they are ballasted to the max from the factory. You have room for lead but that’s it, no place for additional water weight.

So we've talked about this new Moomba Model and the Moomba Max as being a "G" killer, meaning comparable to the SAN G Series boats. One can buy two Moomba Max boats nicely equipped for the price of one G, but no one talks about the GS series or the SAN 230. If we are speculating the the new Moomba will be 24 feet and be pushing 100k, wouldn't those two models come into play? Can a Moomba truly compete against a Nautique?

All the nautiques are SAN boats. It stands for super air nautique. They have the SAN 210/230, and the gs20,22,24, and g21,23,25.

The GS is crossover series with decent slalom, surf and wake. They do everything well but aren't gonna blow you away in any specific area.

If you are strictly speaking wake/wave I bet moomba and supra boats are right up there with the nautiques. I think if you are looking at overall build and features the supras would line up better with nautiques.

Obviously . But there are no cross supports to side mount. Rear hinge won't clear cushions. Easy option would be a front mounted piano hinge, but reaching over the cushion to access a 2.5ft deep storage compartment won't work.

having been in boats that have hinges, I personally prefer to be hinge-free. easier to clean.

intrigued to see what they have coming out but not sure I'm digging the moomba nameplate in the seat vinyl. few minutes in the sun and it'll be hot on the back. just like the peanut butter interior that seems to be all the rage...

Supra emblem is not a heat problem and so far my peanut butter interior isn’t either in 95f+

EDIT: I see you are located in Vegas, now your concern for hot interiors makes more sense [emoji23]

I spotted a 2019 Helix online (not providing link cause I'm not a snitch haha).
Notable things new:
- A3 tower
- Autowake 3.0 (saw on a Max's details elsewhere)
- Wetsounds tower speakers
- Graphics kit

Disappointed there’s not walkover on the sunpad. One of my only complaints from
The demo was the lack of walkover on the max/helix. It’s a big step from the swim deck. Do like the A3 and the wet sounds option. Graphics are meh for me. Still like the sport scheme the best

Most of us don't know because it hasn't been officially released. It looks like you have a max on order, maybe you could call your dealer and they could explain the difference to you. Just a suggestion because most of us really don't know the answer to your question, this comment is not meant to be rude.

2019s gets the A3 tower... which currently comes on Mondo, Craz and Mojo. Seems they phased out the A2 tower.

The A3 has a few differences:
- gloss black
- slightly taller base section
- available surf sleeve bimini

That was what I thought after googling the A3. It just looks like the s”S” is a little more aggressive?

Yep. The A3 WILL make the boat taller on the trailer if getting it in a garage door is of concern.

I was thinking the same, since it is more or less the same length as the Helix. But in the end I suspect sales will help dictate that.

I used to do SKU rationalization for brands bigger than SC so it’s always something I think about.

The thing with the Mondo is certain private lakes have a length limit and those that can afford the lakefront house want a boat like the Mondo not the Helix. I was surprised how many Mondos SC sells. I would say it might be due for a refresh as the boat is starting it's 6th year of production.

Craz Pro added to the lineup. Pro tower, some billet accents, but I don't yet see any other "Pro" features. Most likely the same formula added to the Mojo.

Looks like everything is getting the new helm with 7" screen too!

Watched the Craz Pro and Makai videos. The new touchscreens look AWESOME (like I've said in other threads, that's what I do for a living). USB and phone holders throughout. Cooler or storage in the floor.

Anyway, I am working on my full review, let me know what you think I should hit on or what you want to know, or feel free to ask me any questions. I can tell you, its a winner.

Storage is pretty insane, this boat is massive, think like SE massive, and then all subfloor ballast. So you don't lose any storage, and we did NOT bring a single pound of lead or any sack. What you see in the video, is PURE stock. They actually asked me to bring lead out of our SL to the Makai. I declined. My thoughts, if we can't surf great with 4k ballast and a full family there is a problem. Also, the subfloor ballast was interesting, it has like a "soft" cover, so you can remove and inspect which is GREAT and then also, you can actually add plug and play on TOP of the sub floor rear tanks, it was pretty sick. If I bought this boat, I would probably bring a few hundred lbs of lead for those times we only have a couple people, and nothing else.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Absolutely, the video I did was ALL stock, but with a good load of peeps. But why buy a 25' boat and not have the peeps?

Keep in mind, in years past, I have been asked to do things like this. We are brought a boat to review and test, and sometimes the video never shows up. We don't talk about it. I also prepped SC that if we came and it didn't perform, we just wouldn't say a word about that boat. That is kind of our rule. But everything I have seen from SC, has blown me away since the SE.

No, and I had a LOT of questions about this, and it kinda bothered me a bit. Cuz this boat with the same surf system on the SL, would compete with the SL, as far as the wave, and I guess that answers the question why, and you know, that makes sense. They spend a lot of time and R&D on engineering and they put it out first on the Supras, and it works its way down. So I would say that this surf system on the makai, was probably more like the same performance as our 2017 SE. It was great, but the SL is perfect.

So the makai required a bit of list to clean up the wave, like our SE did. So I am spoiled with the SL, the SL wave is soooo good. This is not quite as good, but its great. So great, I can honestly say we could spend a season on this boat without issue. We would long for some rides on the SL, but this wave is awesome.

no foot shower, it had a center area you can put a cooler in, and it had a soft AO under the seat, I like the floor, and we do that in our SL.

As far as the 400, just make sure the boat has the autolaunch feature, I can say from experience using several 400 supra boats, if it has autolaunch, you can do the smaller motor.

This boat is a slightly less fancy version of my 2016 SE. it’s going to be a BEAST.

Expect performance very similar to a slammed SE if you ask my crappy opinion (if you load this up to 5300# plus) Same exact tower and bimini—both are great.

This is the nose compartment. All the ballast is subfloor so every seat has storage. Everyone should buy one of these. Its huge and the touch screen is awesome. Drew with SC gave us a walk through and coined the phrase Sumba.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180720/d927c7030d76adea1b157007a8057104.jpg

Thanks for the pic!! So that’s under the front most seat? I was wondering about up in the nose, it looks pretty big in the picture, is it just dead space there? I know some other brands have a spot for an anchor, or a fold out ladder, etc so was just curious.

The Max has these same rear bins. Definitely not what i'd called "sub floor", so i think SC is a bit misleading here. But the access lids are a great idea. The rear bags need bled often and currently you have to remove the entire bin. I'll be adding these to mine.

Unless in the Makai they added supports underneath the bins, there is no way they can hold any significant weight/additional ballast. They are just plastic.

I do not know how the new boat is setup but the Max has what appears to be the same same access cover and secondary floor in the front while using a bag subfloor.

As everyone knows the rear of the Max are bags with an optional tray for the rear lockers that appears to be very similar to what we are seeing in the new boat.

The Mojo Pro is still on the site as an '18, when you look at the '19 models, it is gone. They went to a Craz Pro with flow 3.0 as they sell a whole lot more of the 22' boats. Those shots in the water are downtown Knoxville, they must have been hungry for some Calhoun's, lol

Why would this be a Mojo killer? Doubt they are going to just go from 22' to 24'6" in that line. Yeah, the base line Max is 22'6", but it isn't a replacement for the Mojo

It is not only 2'6" longer, it also has a 102" beam compared to the Mojo 100". I do think the Mojo is due for a redesign next year and could end up looking very similar to the Makai.

They are wanting to compete with the a24 in my opinion. This boat would be much better fit and finish. One thing you can’t complain about an a24 is the wave. So If they produce a boat that’s cheaper and has a better surf wave, they’ve got it licked in the big boat department.

Hey Guys. I will try and clarify the confusion on the "sub-floor" ballast. You are correct that the rear ballast is similar to the Max. It is a rear bag with a storage bin over it. In the Makai, the storage bin is screwed down AND has a pie plate so you can access the vent if needed. In the rear, there really isn't a floor as the bags are basically on the hull, so the rear ballast being called "subfloor" or "concealed" is really a matter of preference. BUT, in the Makai, there are additional "mid ship" bags that are truly "sub-floor" that are covered by a "fake floor". Each bag holds 400lbs on each side of the cabin and that is what we really meant as "sub-floor". Also, the entire front ballast is below the floor level so it is also "sub-floor". On the Max, you could add mid ship bags, but we don't have a fake floor that is designed to cover it, but if you got creative, I am sure you could also make a "fake floor" for it. In case you didn't know, we made a running change mid 2018 and the current Max rear bags have fittings in case you want to add your own "mid ship" ballast.

Hope that clears up the difference on the Makai ballast and how it differs from the Max.

As to the dash, the Mondo, Craz, Mojo, and Makai all receive the new 7" touch screen dash as standard. It does have a new interface and I think as you guys use it, you will really love the changes. And for those interested, on the 7" screen when you have AutoWake on, you can go to the home screen and still see ballast levels as AutoWake is working. I know several had requested that in the past.

For 2019, we also have AutoWake 3 that adds Multisensor technology. Basically we added our patented "draft sensor" technology to add ballast sensor that sense how much water is really in the bag. Once the sensor sees the bags are full, it automatically turns off the ballast pumps and resets the gauges to full. This prevents the boat from "over filling" the bag which can eventually lead to walls popping in, fittings popping off, or other ballast related issues.

The Helix and Max continue to use the 480 color screen that all the other models used in 2018. The great news there is the 2019 software WILL work backwards compatible on the 2018 and 2017 models. It also has the ballast sensor technology in it. The 480 does NOT have the same user interface as the 7 inch screen, but we are trying to keep the technology moving forward so if you want, you can eventually purchase ballast sensors and update software and get a 2018 model to have the AutoWake 3 technology.

If you have additional questions, let us know. We will try to update you as we can but we are a little busy trying to make all the new 2019 models...

AND......

On the "sub-floor" ballast, if you want you can easily remove the mid ship fake floors. Once you remove them, you could change the 400lb bag with a custom bag and realistically you could probably put a 800lb bag on each side if you don't want storage. If you did that, then now you are talking about 4800lb stock ballast. Add 6 or 7 passengers at an average of 175lbs each and now you are talking about almost 6000lbs displacement. I can tell you first hand that at 5000lbs displacement, the Makai wave is awesome. We have run it up to 6500lbs in testing and it was unreal. I really can't wait to hear some of the reviews once these boats get to the dealers....

Thanks for the info! Can you explain ballast setup and bag sizes? 400lb each side midship? What’s in the rear, center & front? Thanks!

The rear bags are 1000lbs each. The mid ship bags are 400 each. The front is 1200lbs. So total you have 2000 in rear, 800 in middle, 1200 in front.

Thanks!!! The boat you tested with 6k did it have the 575 in it? I wonder how well this boat does weighted down with the puny 400.

Nope, the R&D boat that I am still running only has the 400 engine and wake prop. With AutoLaunch, I can still get up to about 6500lbs on plane for wakeboarding. For surfing, the 400 with wake prop has been all I needed. We also tested the boat with the new 450 (that includes a 1.75 transmission). If you are at altitude, then the 450 with gear reduction might be a better option. But if you are not at altitude, then I think you will be impressed with the 400.

You can also contact your local dealer for their feedback. The white boat you have seen in some of the posts is the R&D boat and at the dealer demos it had the 400 with wakeprop on it and several times we were REALLY loaded down with people. Most of the dealers were there and they can give you their feedback...

That's the dry weight. That doesn't include fuel, batteries or anything else you might add.

Goose is there a link to where I could get some of the hinges from the makai side seats and add them to my max?

goose, what RPM are you running in that 400 with the wake prop? is it the 2775?

Basically we added our patented "draft sensor" technology to add ballast sensor that sense how much water is really in the bag. Once the sensor sees the bags are full, it automatically turns off the ballast pumps and resets the gauges to full

If this ballast draft sensor can really be retrofitted to fit older models I will be stoked! I constantly find that the timers, over the course of a day, continually need to be reset and this would solve that hassle! Way to go Skiers Choice!

I have been thinking about doing this on my Mojo also!

I think these are pretty much the same thing that Supra uses.

My SE is something like 5600 and the Makai is missing some of the fiberglass and trim that I have....so that seems about right on.

The Helix and Max continue to use the 480 color screen that all the other models used in 2018. The great news there is the 2019 software WILL work backwards compatible on the 2018 and 2017 models. It also has the ballast sensor technology in it. That is great news. I will definitely be upgrading to the new ballast sensors and new software. I have a 2018 Craz. Will any of the Craz Pro features be available to upgrade on the regular Craz? I.E. the flow 3.0 plates? Great job on the new features and the new Makai. You guys are knocking it out of the park!

The craz pro will have rear compartment tray. That will be a much needed upgrade for past year models.

I am going to highly doubt it since you could not do it on the 17 Mojo pro.

Because, I don’t care what anyone says, 4000# is not enough to crush it in a 24.5 boat. I have one—and we rock 5300#. She delivers at that point!

I have seen many people already talk about the ballast, or what they see as lack thereof. If you are buying a big boat like this, I would hope that you would be inviting out a lot of people. Extra ballast is for times when your crew isn't very big to get the optimal wake and wave. 4000 pounds is a lot of weight!! Add in, 8 or 10 adults plus fuel, coolers and other gear, you are easily around 6000 pounds of weight.

I may just be unpopular, but I hardly ever have more than 5-6 on my boat. So I always have to run max ballast. Maybe a smaller boat would be more practical, but I love the space a big boat gives. And the wave is always gonna be bigger when you add the weight.

Padge, that's why I mentioned about the extra weight for the times when your crew is light. I have 3400 pounds in my Mojo plus another 400 in steel shot, a 400 sack and a couple of the 150 pound fat bricks. I only use the extra water ballast when we have 3 or 4 people out, like last night. If I have 7 or 8 people out, I don't need to simulate the extra body weight.

Here’s the scenario you’re not thinking about: I have a large boat because I have 4 kids under 14, and do lots of pleasure boating on a VERY ROUGH lake aside from surfing. The boat lives on a hoist—so towing/storing is not a concern. If I could have a 26’ surf boat (E.g. afford one) I would have one. A boat is never too big on the water IMHO. Anyway, Lots of times, our intense surf sessions are with 3-4 men at 6:30 am. We basically never surf with a full boat.

I don’t really count people as ballast when I am talking about a boat or planning a wave—that’s just bonus. I would not forego loading ballast until my motor starts to struggle pulling the weight. Or the boat sinks?

4000# is great, but nowhere near what this hull can do. My suspicion. It’s really not the lack of factory ballast—this one is set up nicely—it would be the inability to elegantly add what you might want. That’s where any questions I have might be centered. Because it’s GONNA get added.

I think the Supra guys answered it nicely anyway. Side bags could be bigger if you wanted—they said.

^^^this exactly. Love the big boat for every reason. And they need the weight to deliver. Maybe 4000# is a lot in a 22’ boat, but not 25. On that pair, the 22’ is gonna surf better. They need to be sunk to give up the goods!

That is a bummer. I understand they try to keep that stuff “Special” for the Pro version, but they didn’t offer the Craz Pro in 18. I would have purchased one had it been offered. Only reason I didn’t go with the Mojo was I still like to slalom ski also. I had already made up my mind 22’ was the best compromise for space and still being able to somewhat flatten a Wake when I want to. Hindsight, I probably should have just went with the Mojo Pro.
