Question for you

Dealer told me that with full ballast and much over 10 people in the boat i should have the 450 engine. is this something that anyone can confirm for me? Do you see engine performance issues with the base 400 engine?

Not if you prop the boat correctly. Does the 450 give you more flexibility? Sure....is it an absolute necessity under the conditions you posted? No

If you want to run with 10 people or 5000lb and still be able to do 45mph across the lake, then yes, get the bigger engine, but if your ok with only being able to do say 35mph flat out, then just get a lower pitched prop that is suited for your main needs

$5k is a lot of money for 23ft lbs for same engine with a little hotter tune.

I'm all for loading a boat but 10 people is a LONG day on the water! Even with the launch any boat will have a hard time getting to speed with that many people and 3000 lbs of ballast. I want to see the wakes people are throwing with a LOADED boat.

What prop would you recommend for big ballast and a big crew? We run 10 or so people regularly (not all of them surf) and we opted for 1,200 bags. Running around 3,500 elevation

I would take a long look at the 15x12 (Acme 2315) or 15x11 (Acme 2949) but you will lose it on the top end. I would say max speed 32 to 34mph if I was to guess.

That's not too bad. I am not too concerned with top end speed. We surf and want the boat to perform to do so.

I'm with you! I hope for 2019 SC offers a little more aggressive prop.

Wakemakers has the Acme 2079 listed for the Helix up to 2017, would that be the same for the 18' Max? and would that be the way to go?

I have a 2079 as a spare and the upgraded factory wake prop. It sure which would work better on my Max. Any thoughts?

Hi Guys,

Just ordered a 2019 Max, I struggle to find any info on the wakeboard wake set up. Do you guys have the wakeboard wake dialled in as well as the surf wave?

I have a buddy in Utah that loads everything 100% and adds an extra 750 to the nose and man does it look good.

That's the 14.5 prop, I would look into the 15".

Is anyone running a tower mirror? Not sure where to start looking for one for the Max. The windshield one has to go!

The tower is waaaaaay to far back on the new Roswell towers, in order to mount a mirror on. That is of course unless you want some sort of Dr Suess type of BS contraption going on.

Don’t feel bad, the factory Supra PTM mirror brackets are on backorder. My boat came with a mirror but no bracket lol.

Apparently this is a known issue, and SC has a fix for it. Contact your dealer.

this is the only one I see for the windshield. Run this with the extensions from the tower? Sorry I am confused.

There's no option to come from the tower, they lost their lust it seems ;) PTM has an option to raise your mirror a little bit more, for myself the stock is too high already. What problems are you having with it on the windshield? Best part about a mirror mount is late in the day it acts as a sun visor.

Add this to a new PTM mirror.

For me it is that I am short and the mirror is right in my view of the goofy surfer. I do have to stand a lot to see over the bow. Almost no point in having a mirror as I have to turn around to look at the rider. I guess I can try the PTM option but spending $200+ for an extension doesn't really excite me much. I think my husband has an idea to drop the mirror down off the Bimini which we run most of the time.

Where are other peoples choices for buying an OJ prop besides Wakemakers? I had an email into them but no response yet and it is too late for this weekend. 15x13

For that exact reason I mounted my mirror on the port side window above the observers heads and with its wide angle can just glance to the side and see the rider at all areas.

I am going to try that.. Seems like the easiest solution for now.

just curious as i'm looking to get a Max for next season - for those that bought new, did you end up paying msrp or were you able to negotiate down a bit? and if so, how much below msrp were you able to get? too bad there's not an Edmunds for boats like there is for cars.....optioning out the boat as i'd like it, it's coming in at about $70k, so just wondering what dealer mark up is if anyone has an idea.
