View Full Version : Volume increasing and decreasing with RPM? Can the Max do it from the factory?

So, late last year I was looking at a new Mojo and my dealer told me the stereo could increase and decrease the volume as the boat increases speed to surf or wakeboard, and then drop the volume when you come back down to idle. When I decided to order a Max I forgot to ask if this was still possible.

Can the Max do this from the factory? If not, what would I need to make it happen? A friend of mine has a different brand boat that does it and it really is a nice feature.

Thanks!

Not that I have seen on the factory installed Fusion stereo.

Do some of the other Fusion stereos offer that feature?

There's apps that do it on your phone.

Yeah, but I'm looking for something a bit less ghetto than that. :) I just didn't know if there was a certain stereo that had it built in or what. The Fusion systems come with NEMA 2000 that can read engine RPM as long as it's sent to the network. I'm pretty sure that's what Axis does with their boats.

I have a 2017 Mojo and this is the first that I have heard of this.

My SA does it, and honestly it’s not a well tuned system. It’s generally more annoying than anything. Super slow to react.

Automotive has had speed compensated volume since the 90’s.

I don’t care for it.

With almost all boats, this speed based feature is not part of the stereo. Its an input thats generated by the helm control thats sent to stereo head much in the same way you would volume up/down manually on the helm screen or remote.

This is why you might see it on one boat brand/model and not the other, even though they have the same stereo head brand/model.

Ah, that makes sense. I think it's a pretty cool feature when using RPM instead of GPS to determine movement. The GPS version that I tried seemed a little glitchy where my friends on his boat seems to work perfectly. I was hoping this was built in to the Moomba Max, but it looks like it isn't.

So, was it also not a feature of last year's Mojo? The dealer definitely told me the Mojo would do that.

Never been a feature on the moomba line

Definitely something I missed on my Moomba coming from an Axis.

The newer Supra boats have it and it does not work well...

I'd just love to have an ATT (attenuate) button!

I like the big volume knob on the Fusion. Easy to quickly spin down the volume when you slow down.

Yeah, I'm getting pretty good at that. Actually when I had some Mastercraft guys out with me, they said "oh sweet I didn't think that these boats had automatic volume control." I let him go on believing that the boat was doing it, not me. LOL.

Maybe the sa just doesn’t have the right set up from the factory because my buddy has it on his G23 and it works awesome

Agreed, my buddy has a G and we were just out in it Sunday morning and it does work far better than Supra's version.

There r settings that you can adjust in the main audio settings. That help some.

Yea, there’s a sensitivity setting on the main page with the screen brightness. I’ve played with it. Doesn’t make a huge difference. It works pretty well when accelerating but when you slow down to turn around after some one crashes it takes a while to decrease. That’s the annoying part
