What skim style board(s) would you recommend for 6'1 210 pound guy just getting into wakesurfing? It doesn't have to be the best of the best. Looking for something that is beginner/intermediate but will allow me to advance with the board as I get better and is at a good price point.

Love the P5 Danielo Diamond. Here is a great video with an explanation between the Diamond, CL version and the hammerhead:

Thanks! That's some great info. How do you think the Matrix fits into the mix vs the Diamond? I'm looking at a 17 Matrix and a 17 LF Keen right now.

We make skim boards but they def. aren’t my passion. Phase 5 makes great skim boards. I’m a bit partial to exile. The exile boards are amazing and the guys are awesome. Shoot Hank an e-mail tell him Chris @ PS sent ya and he will take care of you. [email protected]

If you're looking for a skim that's a good value, take a look at the Lakewakes Flying Saucer. We have one that's made for my buddy who is your size.

Tell Mark at Lakewakes I referred you.

A full size phase 5 hammerhead is an excellent board for a person your size. Lots of speed. I’ve had one and sold it to buy a smaller size in the same board. I think you would be pleased with one.

I've had a few people suggest the HiFi as well. Big change? As in better or just a different ride compared to surf style?

I actually just picked up a Hi-Fi as well last week. It was a 2017 blem model off of evo.com

I started on the Ronix Marsh-Mellow surfboard last year and the skim style board feels completely different. It has a much looser feel and you have to use your rails a lot more. The surfboards are more forgiving and you can ride flatter on them. It took a few times to get the hang of skim style but I like it better. That's just my personal preferences though. See if you can borrow anyone's board before you make a decision or talk to a shop about letting you borrow one. Good luck

You won't like the hammerhead coming from a matrix. If your looking at the matrix then buy that. I love that board, darn crew is always riding it. The hammerhead is just a little slower, not as responsive, rides revert really well. Its a good board, just the matrix is next level up.

I have both hammerhead and matrix.. :)

Oops didnt read the first post fully, the hammerhead will be perfect for a new rider.

Loose compared to surf style. Spins like crazy.
Good advise that was given to me: ride it 2-3 times before judging.

Thanks Trayson. I went to the lakewakes website and it looks like they aren't making any boards right now and they didn't have hardly anything for sale on their site.

Any recommendations on a surf style board? I have a P5 hammerhead and like it (now that I am used to it). Looking to pic up a surf style board also. I am 5’-11” and 175lbs.
