I bought my Helix a little over a month ago and have been slowing trying to dial in the wave. I want to make sure the prop I have is what I need and will handle the weight I'm adding to my boat. When I got the boat it came with an "upgraded" prop, the OJ 945 15x13. I've taken the stock 650 rears out and added 1140s. I have the Surf Edition so I have the hard tank (I guess it's 400 pounds) and the IBS bag (which I guess is 400 as well?) I ordered a bunch of lead today from LEADwake. I plan to put bags in the side compartments both surf and non-surf sides as well as up in the bow.

I just want to make sure the OJ 945 will handle the weight of all the ballast upgrades I'm doing.

Yep, that’s the prop I upgraded too, so you are good to go.

Awesome, thanks Stazi. I didn't realize you had that prop.

Awesome, thanks Stazi. I didn't realize you had that prop.

When I bought the boat it had the 14.5 x 14.25 prop, so I ended up changing that pretty quickly after we started loading up the boat with a ton of weight and it was struggling to get out of the hole.

It does sacrifice top speed but I couldn’t care less. This is a tow boat, not a race boat.

I'm going to be trying the Acme equivalent, the 2773 (15x13) later this week. Glad to hear you're happy with it. I replaced the 1235 with a 2419 (15x12, .075 cup) last week but I think it's a bit too aggressive.

The 15x12 with cupping will be basically the same as. 15x13, without it, IMO

Sent from my iPad using TapatalkThe 15x12 has less cup. .075 vs .105 for the 15x13

What is your opinion of the 1235?

I run the 1235 on my Mojo, at least 3500 pounds for wakeboarding, 4200 surf, does a fine job. I just picked up a 945, going to see how it performs soon.

What is your opinion of the 1235?It's okay overall, but really struggled with 3500 lbs ballast, 5 people, and the ghetto gate I made to test out a possible wake gate system.

I have a 2313 in my crazy (15x12 with .150 cup) and its a beast for surfing and I can hit 38mph without ballast. Pretty solid setup.

I've tried the 2419 (15x12, .075 cup), it is a surf beast but winds out pretty good at top end. Then 2773 (15x13, .105 cup). It would only get to surf speed (11.5) with the wake plate all the way down. Better at the top end, but that didn't matter. Prop shop is gonna swap that one out for the 2313.

What elevation were you running the 2773? Also, what boat and ballast? I only ask because I think I might switch from the OJ 945 to the 2773 for lakes between 3600ft and 5000ft.

I have a 2018 Craz with the “upgraded wake prop”....however, I had a high pitched whine in the boat the first year and could not figure out what the problem was until I researched it on here. It ended up being prop whine. I had never heard of such a thing, but I showed the dealer the thread and they replaced the prop for me with no questions asked. I was told OJ had a run of props that were out of spec. Don’t know if that is true or not. I thought I had an OJ 945, but I just checked it tonight because I am thinking getting a spare, and it is the OJ 950. Both are 15x13 props, but the 950 has a cup of .130 vs. the 945 with a cup of .120. What would I gain or lose with the cup of .130 on the 950. In my opinion, the 950 performs great. I have never had issues planing out and I can hit 38mph. I am thinking I would just stick with the 950.

Shoebox - I started with 3337 and felt it was struggling with weight for surfing and a loud whining. I talked with JT at Nettles (great guy) and he recommended 3145. I like it a lot better for surfing with weight.

So I assume you liked the 2419 better than the 2313? I am considering the 2313. I run about 3,300lbs of ballast and 4-6 people in the boat plus gear. The OJ 950 I have is fine for surfing, but can struggle to get the boat on plane if I wakeboard at 100% ballast. I can currently hit about 38mph on top end.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI honestly don't remember if I even ended up trying the 2313. I really did like the 2419. Did the job well. I had about 4k total ballast in it, plus however many people, usually 3-7.

Ok. If I understand it correctly, the 2419 has the same specs and the 2313, except the cup. The cup on the 2419 is .075 and the 2313 is .150. So I believe the 2419 would provide a little more top and the 2313 would have a little more low end.
