Sunday was an awesome day too... had a pretty good crew. Couple of the Rinkers guys showed up. Chris Martin cane out and surfed the SA on my new Doomswell. We got a wave rolling behind that thing!! He’s 6’5” and it was up to his ribs.

I'm actually pretty okay the the cold water here in the PNW because we have the river to ourselves, long nights, and tons of ride time in the evenings...

Yeah, this will do at almost 7pm!!!
https://i.imgur.com/T6dF8FH.jpg

Time to get out the Slingshot... Water like this must first be used for Wakeboarding!!! (yes, I did take a slalom set as well, at the end of the night)
https://i.imgur.com/brbbNxU.jpg

I'm still in awe from my Hurley Phantom wetsuit. My boardshorts and rash guard are completely dry at the end of the evening. I have a drysuit, but can't complain about having options!

Goodnight from the PNW... It's horrible here.

Surprisingly the pad did not split on that leg.

I just ended up making these myself. I used a glue down style rubber tile. Figured it would be pretty durable. Made templates and used those to cut them out of the tile. For the holes I used a mandrel and gasket hole punch.

I've been using left over hydroturf for mine. Not a big deal if they only last a season. I'm not surprised. with the cargo bimini, a pair of REV410s, 4 board racks, 2 overhead racks, tower mirror, and even a pair of flag holders I've got a s*** ton of weight on my tower.

The slow spring in Texas has caused the ramp funnies to happen in May instead of April. This took up an entire lane and we are not even sure how they got there. But the lower unit was sitting sideways [emoji15]

Oh it’s been a good season so far. I wish I could have gotten pics last weekend, but I was too busy trying to keep my boat outta the mayhem. Let me paint this picture for you...
A guy in a brand new F250 backed the trailer for his brand new Yamaha boat so far in the water the tailgate was half in so that the bow roller was 6” outta the water. He did great getting to the bow roller, but while trying to hook it the boat floated sideways over the fender and got hung between the roller and the 6” of exposed trailer guide (which I’m surprised he didn’t run over earlier).
He proceeded to unhook the bow, and try to power and turn back into the roller which sent his new boat up and into his brand new paper plated tailgate, crushing it of course. 4 people finally showed up to help push him back and around the trailer guide, and pull the trailer forward the 800’ it needed. Once he got on the bunks, he tried to power load up with the wheel cut and swings the nose of the boat into a guys chin trying to help guide him up. He got pissed and left the guy to finish on his own.
Poor guy...

Sometimes it amazes me you don’t have to get a license to do this stuff...

I have bumped into a couple of issues that I'll need to talk to my dealer about, and one N00b (to a new new boat, this is my 4th inboard) mistake;
The water temp readout is WAY off, and the water depth just reads "---".
26998
I'd bet you beer money that they're related. Also the electric surge brake lockout isn't working - I've had (actually added myself) this on my last 2 trailers, so I know what to expect... I'l probably spend 10 minutes troubleshooting that one on my own before involving the dealer.

The bigger hiccup is that the boat came in 4" taller than the TWO that I measured at a boat show. No how no way it fit's in an 8' door. I was mega-thorough measuring, then it was confirmed by Matt the Moomba brand manager at the Cincinnati boat show. It took taking the brackets off of the tower (not just the quick disconnect, but the next step up the bracket chain), deflating the tires and backing it in with a 6" drop hitch (stock F150) to get it in my 8'1" door.

the n00b mistake was - first not checking the air bleed valves on the bags before filling the first time, then not noticing until the bilge pump kicked on. related to that, not checking to make sure the bags were laid out to fill without supervision - the port side back filled up under the carpeted trim inside of the hatch and popped the screw out of the fiberglass! Easy fix, I'm just glad that those screw sticking out of the back of the panel didn't find their way into the bag!

Last, this Mission Reef Mat inflatable mat is on sale right now and pretty damn cool! CostCo has a similar product for about $100 cheaper, but the Mission seems to pack up tighter, so I sprung for it for my girlfriend's 30th birthday. The Reef mat in addition to the Tuko towels we have from them and the Delta wake shaper that I let go with the old boat make us real Mission Boat Gear poster children!

So about a week ago, I got inspiration to do a quick and easy upgrade to my subs on the boat. I was running a pair of Infinity 10's with a 2 ohm load to my sub amp. Since the amp's 1 ohm stable, I decided to buy a 3rd 10" sub and drop it down to a 1.3ohm load and have the amp push out the full 1000 watts.

Because I didn't want to spend a lot of time or effort, I found a pre-made bedliner sprayed box and used that. My existing subs were installed without removing the foot rest. So while I could have hacked out the footrest to make room for tons of airspace, I wanted quick and easy. It was a little more work than I planned, because I had to remove the existing box and squeeze in the new box forward of it. But I utilized some of the dead space under the helm and the result is amazeballs. bass times 150%!!! Net cost was $169 and one evening of time.

So now I finally have bass that keeps up with the REV410s on the tower.

We hooked up with a Moomba guy from Texas that's in Portland for a while and took him out on the XLV. After his wakeboard run, our son was motivated to brave the 58 degree water and up his wakeboard game. He's always been nervous about crossing the wakes, so his Mother's Day present was checking that off with repeated wake crossing. (he's way better at surfing than wakeboarding).
https://i.imgur.com/Olv0rHA.jpg

I took out my drone and THOUGHT I got some rad footage of my son surfing. Unfortunately it never started the video. I was really bummed. The only footage I got was when I was bringing it back to the boat. (which was crazy hard to do with current ripping, waves rocking the boat and a bit of a breeze. talk about a moving target. So this was the only pic that was halfway decent. It was so stressful bringing my drone in to catch it, that I didn't even take another flight with my 2nd battery. And all the birds swarming it didn't help either.

Nice upgrade! What's the trick with the foam noodle? You've always got something hidden up your sleeve...

LOL. Okay, so I've got a playpen bow and I find that unless the side cushions are centering the middle long cushion just right that the middle one wants to have the edge of it fall in the hole (especially when people are walking on it to board from the nose of the boat). After years of the starboard side cushion being pushed sideways toward the starboard side, the edge of that cushion wants to actually slip under the outer parts of the bow. so stuffing a noodle in there keeps that cushion where I want it to be and in turn keeps the middle cushion centered. It's totally a $1 ghetto fix, but it's been working fine and you can't see it when the cushions are in place.

I still love the playpen bow however. It's the last of a dying breed.

Didn’t make it out this weekend with all the family around other than a few hours on Sunday. Linz decided last second she wanted to go sit out for a bit before dinner with all the parents. Ended up being a great day, dead calm back in party cove. Tied up with one of the Rinkers guys, Will and his wife n daughter. Great day...

Tell me you didn't get that water on Center Hill on the weekend! I've been lucky enough to experience that...but on a weekday. Haven't went to the party seen of wakefest but have been up there on the Friday before it starts for some demo rides with the sponsors from TNT. Beautiful.

Actually it was yesterday (May 14). The pic is only about 3-4 miles down river from Rock Island State Park which is the head of Center Hill Lake. They have been working on the Center Hill Dam in Smithville, TN for the past 8 years or so and the lake level is 20 ft. or so lower than normal summer pool, therefore the ramp at Rock Island is not usable except for small aluminum fishing boats, so on a weekday you have miles of lake virtually to yourself. There is a ramp for the area this pic was taken only about 15 minutes from my house. This far up the lake, it is not uncommon for the water to be this calm year round (except during periods of high winds obviously), even on weekends, since the ramp at the state park is not usable. The water temp surprised me also!! Once you got about 5-6 feet deep, it was a different story. We've had several days around 90 degrees, so it has the surface warmed up nicely. Especially where the channel is this narrow. Now that I've given away my secret, I won't ever see this again!!!

I have thought about using that small marina on the White county side sometime, the one further up river from Pates Ford. Sounds like the area of the lake you are talking about. Have you ever tried to board / surf on Great Falls? I rode around on a run-about up there one time, seemed to be a lot of logs in the water. Anyway, with now a more permanent place on Tims, I don't know when I'll be back up there....would like to!

hawgtitan

Great falls is fairly narrow and has a lot of private docks. Makes it hard to surf without pissing dock owners off! But, rightfully so. The ramp I use is about 1/4 mile up river toward state park from marina you’re speaking of.

With 5K, how many people do you usually ride with? You have some nice pics on here of what your boat produces.

Should be interesting with the 19s and the sub floor ballast and how riders will push that weight. Pretty sure they run 5-6K on the PWT Tour boats.
Those are also 550s

Just going by the pic’s I’ve seen I’d say your doing fine, visually your wave is just as good with less weight.

I was on a friends SE last weekend with upgraded rear bags and a little lead, that wave was fantastic. So far what I’m finding is absolutely these boats need lots of weight but I do think there’s a point that you should stop adding weight and start adjusting angles.

You’re making a great point. I also hate to admit—the tallest wall of a wave is not the most fun to surf. Adding a little bow weight and speeding up makes a noticeably shorter height but much longer pocket, and if airs and such are your game that’s actually the cats meow. It’s not as sexy visually, but it rips. We were up to 12mph today, and the catch of the back of the pocket was so strong. It also takes the super grabby curl out of play.

But something about a wall that looks so cool—and takes great pics [emoji847].

Well, I imagine this is the factory "footrest" as it's got wires and hoses running through it. Looks like it had a sub in there at one point.
https://i.imgur.com/RKVR8q6.jpg

The box that was built was basically a big wedge. The sides are right triangles (I think there might be a flat piece at the bottom that effectively chops off the very tip of the triangle.) But the basic idea is like the pic I drew below. Make the angle of the hypotenuse of the right triangle the same angle as the face of the footrest, then they'll mate up perfectly and the face of the box with the subs will be plumb. The box does NOT extend all the way to the gunwales, which should be kinda obvious since the gunwales curve outward from bottom to top.

It's pretty tricky to get the box in there. You have to definitely take out the cupholder enclosure. It'd be really easy to get it in if you removed the front seat.

This is another of our local docks. The gangplank down to the water is usually at a 20 to 30 degree slope, and it's almost flat now.

That doesn't look too bad. We went out on Mother's Day and it was a total shit show with massive currents pushing the docks, and logs at an angle. And everyone trying to squeeze in on the lane by the usable dock of course.

Came back through your channel on the way home from Portland and it was like dodging bullets with crap floating everywhere. That last no wake run through the house boats was painful. Don't know how you do it.

Sad day here at Lake Anna. We sold our lake house and now we just have an empty lift. With all of the work we did we made a tidy profit so it was worth the blood, sweat and beers. Going to miss the hell out of that place.

We are keeping the boat at the lake on a leased lift as it is the best lake in the area. Hopefully we will make it down enough this summer to make it worth it. We are moving to a permanent lake house in 2-3 years so we are excited for that but it will be a long wait between.

At least we are next to another Moomba in the new slip so it is in good company.

We don't. 15 minute motor to get to our play spot via the main channel. 15 minute motor home via the main channel. The only time we do the 30-45 minute idle through the no wake houseboats is when we're intentionally doing the scenic tour.

To get to our place we have to drive South on Kentucky Springs Road which passes right by that development a little before our turn. The development seems to be coming along further every time we pass. They have the big signs up now, roads are paved and they are having specials every once in a while. That seems the only time to try to buy in. Of course they will probably be happy to make any deal. It is on the hot/private side of the lake. That wasn't for us since there is no fuel and no restaurants. On the flip side you get a longer season due to the plant output. It looks like a nice place but that is really all I know about it. I am not sure what water front lots go for but you can probably give them a call to find out.

Went to the AWS demo days. Got to try out the Radinn WakeJet which is a battery powered jet surfboard. This is the G1. The G2 is a lot better from what I've heard. It was pretty fun and once I got up, I was cruising around easily.

I also got to try a OneWheel, I know it's not on the water, but it was at the Demo days, and it was really fun!

Looks like the weather is going to cooperate for another run to Powell. Snagged the SA yesterday and she needed a cleaning since the boat sits in the water full time. I’ve got another day to get it ready just to get it crazy dirty again.

Worth is subjective! that said, it's a pretty rad feeling to be gliding above the surface of the water. And it's very cool to be on the "next new thing" that very few others are doing--like wakesurfing was 10+ years ago.

It's challenging at the beginning (and I'm still totally a beginner). I'd say harder to learn than slalom skiing, but again, subjective.

They're expensive for sure, but I got a deal on mine through a friend with a Slingshot connection. Of course, high end wakeboards and surfboards get to be super expensive too.

I'm excited to play on it more this summer. :-)

Awesome day on Somerville... had a 4 boat convoy roll out there. Me and all the Rinkers guys. My SA, a Mojo and Craz doing a little formation out to the cove. Lol somehow I ended up with everyone’s wives for the ride out.
We found the limits of the SA with Enzo’s. 6 big ol boys and 4 girls and I needed more prop. We could barely get to 10.8! But the wave was massive. We ended up having to drain to 70% all the way around just to hold speed.
I’ll get the surf pics up here in a bit. Wish I could figure out how to post videos...

Well we survived the holiday weekend of crazy. Our usual pull to Powell is 6-6.5 hours and it took us 9 to get there. Traffic was insane and people wrecking all over the place. With the support of my local dealer www.marine-products.com I got to try out the 2017 SA550. Not much riding since the lake was so busy but I can tell you the wakeboard Wake behind this thing is massive. I loved the SC until now, the SA puts out one hell of a shaped Wake that all riders will enjoy. I now know why the SA pulls the pro tour.

I'm not a fan of tubes behind my boat but my kids are, and after all, that's all that matters right? My 9yo girl is becoming a little dare devil and wants to start surfing which I am all for, just need to find her a good board for her size/weight - suggestions? Not trying to break the bank...

End of last year my 2yo son wanted to get on the tube with his big sister but as soon as the rope got tight he freaked out.. back in the boat he came. This past Sunday he did the similar freak out when big sister got on the tube so we tried again. This time he was in it! Even was doing the 'look ma' no hands'. So proud of him, can't wait until he's back there tearing up the wakeboard and surf waves!!

My 2 kiddos on the right, in-laws left 3 (left to right age - 28, 2 1/2, 4, 2 1/2, 9):

Monday went out early to a local lake. We were out early enough that I was able to get one slalom run on this:
https://i.imgur.com/9UD7f6Z.jpg

However that was wrecked in short order by a single boat with a tube. It's amazing that ONE boat can destroy the water in the lake so quickly. So to all the boats that tube, you can suck it. I'll never be a fan.

If anyone out there is a big guy, like I am, DO NOT underestimate the power of proper fins. I have Futures Andos on this board (in size large) and the difference is amazing.

Grainy pics taken from a video--honestly we are having so much fun surfing nobody wants to take pics. I might have to create roles for the crew!
