I’m glad I started a “help” thread when I started shopping other brands because the moomba family here reeled me back in.

I finalized the deal on a 2018 max that begins production in 2 weeks. My fiancé and I got lucky, the new dealer in town had a build slot open that could be “customized” until today. After owning the 08 outback V I bought new for 10 years I know exactly what I want and do not want (#1 on the list is no white interior) in a new boat and wanted to order one specific for me. Here she is, the murder max....or max murder......not sure which sounds more badass.

It’s black metalflake on dark graphite, with the platinum top deck color (I wish there were more color options for top deck). She’s getting tinted with 5% at the dealership before I take it home.

I can’t wait to see how it turns out, the max is a huge and fairly ugly boat and this just seems to tone that down a bit. The fiancé wanted the black metalflake and loves the “murdered out” look of it, I think she might be more excited than me!!!

We get married June 23rd and should have it in plenty of time to be a wedding present to ourselves. Vegas wedding ftw, it came down to spending tens of thousands of dollars on a wedding, or getting hitched in Vegas and buying a massive new boat with plenty of room for baby gear. She made the right decision!!!

I’ll continue to update this thread, thanks for reading and happy boating!

Congrats on the wedding and the new boat! If you can spare a couple of days next month make the trip to the factory when it's being built. It's a very cool tour to see how it all goes together and the detail every boat gets. Your dealer should be able to get you an exact date and ask someone from SC to contact you for a tour. With that boat I'm hoping for a black trailer with black or black/aluminum 2 tone wheels.

Here’s the build sheet:

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180426/67341d812793168f89673e981161e1e9.jpg

We went with all the wake options, but no stereo options except the transom remote and a pair of rev10s they gave me a discount on. I had the salesman check on what amps and sub comes with the different packages, and decided that I’ll do all the stereo upgrades myself with better equipment for similar cost.

I’m really stoked about the FAE, I have and continue to teach a lot of people to surf, and this will make it easy to communicate.

My fiancé is excited about the surf system. Driving a loaded boat with a cutting board suction cupped to the side isn’t the easiest but she figured it out. When the salesman mentioned that the flaps retract when the boat gets below a certain speed she looked at me grinning ear to ear.

If anyone is going to the factory in a couple weeks please let me know! I’m really hoping the dealers rep can get us some pics.

Vegas weddings are the best! That’s how me n Linz did it. Vegas is still Home for me, at least in my heart lol.
Our whole wedding cost around $300, including the pavilion on the ‘beach’ pool at Tahiti Village resort. Congrats, sounds like you got a great one. (Boat too! Lol)
That murdered out max is sick...

Glad to see ya sticking with the Skiers Choice family, the MAX is no joke and you will love it. Love the look of the boat and the tint might be the best idea to go with this boat. Heads up on the flooring you selected, it gets crazy hot in the sun. It's stupid easy to clean but mine spent more time with towels on it then actually seeing it. I can't wait to see this MAX floating on the water.

Thanks everyone and I appreciate the heads up on the floor! If it becomes a problem I’ll get some gatorstep next winter.

I’ve been reading ballast threads and saw where someone from wakemakers posted that they were working on a kit for the max. I’ve already emailed them, just waiting for a response.

My awesome salesman, Cameron, text me yesterday that he got with Drew Tinker, who said he’d make sure we get some pics of it coming down the line!!! Super pumped about that

Congrats on the new order!!! Maybe the 6.2 will convert you over to blue oval... After getting a test ride in a Max late last season I'm still a little jaded on my decision for The Craz. The Max has So. Much. Room. It's pretty unbelievable, and defies comparison in that price range. You're going to love it. In the end, the max doesn't fit in my garage, probably pushes my half ton truck too hard, and I couldn't get happy with the two choices for color on the center section, and it's funky lines. That's all personal preference though. I'm certainly afraid that with all of the new boats rolling out that the craz will look dated quickly.

Totally agree with you that Murder Max will tone down the stark lines of the Max and look very cool. Congrats on the upcoming boat and wedding!

Any why they keep the area under the bow cushion white?

I respectfully disagree....I think there will always be a demand for a classic bow and most manufacturers have a traditional offering aside from a pickle-fork style.

I love my Craz and I don't think it's gonna look dated anytime soon but I might be biased ;)

The Max is awesome but I still don't find to be that much overlap between buyers. If size rules all, yeah it has storage for days....but for the Craz/Mojo buyer it can feel awfully spartan (for '18 Moomba even stopped embroidering "Moomba" on the upholstery, wtf). I'm definitely not knocking the Max, it ticks the right boxes for many different buyers, and I wish nothing but the best for the OP and his future wife.

Oh, yeah I agree with you across the board! My hard earned money is going towards a Craz too. But I can certainly understand the argument for the Max!

Love it.

The darker colors definitely camouflage the lines. And I think most who feel the boat looks odd, it's due to the disproportionately big rear-end. I think in the water, it'll look like a totally different boat.

Congrats! I can feel the stoke!

I disagree, I think the things that date boats the quickest are...graphics on the boat, gelcoat colors combinations/interior colors and the towers.

I believe it’s just a flaw in the boat builder, it should be platinum to match the rest.

z28ke, fatsac.com is now selling custom bags built to your specs at a significant savings over Wakemakers. You can never go wrong with Exile, can't wait to see what you guys come up with! A guy on the FB page just built a stereo for a Max. It is pretty sweet. If you haven't seen it, you may want to check out what all he did.

Ok great, thank you for the heads up!

Just got a spray date of May 9th, so hopefully we’ll have it by the end of the month.

I sold the obv on Sunday and am meeting the lady this coming Sunday to water test it and show her how everything works. She’ll be taking it to it’s new home in Richmond Va from there.

The wait is killing me! I got some pics (I’m respecting their request for me to keep them private) and it looks HOT!!! It’s almost like torture, so close but so far away...

They sprayed it last Wednesday May 9th, and as of Monday the tower/windshield/rub rail were all on the boat and the interior looked mostly complete.

What do you all think the odds are of me getting it by Memorial Day weekend? My dealer is about 5 hours from the factory.

Thanks y’all! We picked it up at 9am, took it to the soon-to-be in laws lake house, tied up then promptly left for a wedding. Hoping to get some break in hours on it tomorrow.

I negotiated the tint with the deal on the boat so I don’t really have a figure, but I’ve heard $400 - 500 is typical.

Thank you! Cameron will take good care of you for sure! What model are you looking at?

We absolutely love it, my better half is more particular about the boat than I am. For Father’s Day she helped me wash and wax it when we got back from the lake. It’s way more boat to hand wax than the old outback v.

The only thing is how hot the dark grey of the interior gets, which I knew would be the case but has surprised her a little. She has found some towels at bed bath and beyond (that have elastic sewn around the border) to put over the bench seats/engine cover and plans to buy them with some gift cards she got at her bridal shower. Once the boat is moving the upholstery cools off instantly, but sitting still it gets HOT! I would still get the same color due to my hatred of cleaning white vinyl, this thing still looks good even after a weekend in the water.

Someone else mentioned the non skid snap out carpet getting hot but we haven’t noticed that at all, maybe because it feels like ice compared to the vinyl lol.

Dove grey/silver moquetta/Black trexx

The silver moquetta isn’t bad but I can light a cigarette off the dove grey

I’ve used “hot sauce” once and just wiped it down the other times. The hot sauce was really hard to wipe/buff off, a good coat of mequiars marine wax should help that, and prevent water spots.

Keep on the Boat Bling but use a real shammy to wipe off and not a micro fiber or towel. Just helps that it has a Polymer wax in it to leave the MAX shinning and looking bad ass. Of course this is all my opinion from using the product for so long.

My buddy is a pro and this coating is legit.

Pays for itself in the long run.

$500 is cheap for the surface area of a hull. Can be used on exterior and vinyl interior as well.

Nano’s for cars are the same price point per ml.

Boat bling isn’t cheap and the long term labor has to be considered too. If it prevents gel coat correction, water spotting, hull fouling, interior stains, $500 is cheap.

IGL Marine was designed for gel coat, I am sure the automotive nano’s will work too for slightly less.

Looking at the Max and Helix. Don’t NEED the Max, but with such a small price gap for so much more boat and a tandem axle trailer, it’s very enticing. And “no replacement for displacement.”

Clearly the $9999.99 is simply telling you that it’s not available for sale to the general public.
