Have you guys looked at the floating houses for rent? We've stayed in them a couple times and are a blast! There are several marinas that have them. 2 years ago, the one we stayed in was 4 bed 2 bath, slept 12.

I'd be all game but rest of the family is reluctant. This is my way of tiotoing into it. Also a houseboat will be more in the long run with fuel etc.

Don't think Knox is talking about houseboats. There a some "floating houses" on Norris. I think it may be the only place in the TVA system where it's allowed. I don't think they are allowing more of them so it can be unique. I've never been there since I'm more middle TN .... but they look pretty sweet.

I think this is what he's referring to.

I 2nd the floating house! I grew up doing houseboat vacations but that became too much work so we’d do a lake house but I missed being on the water and being able
to jump in and out of the boat in a jiffy. We found floating houses and they are the best of both worlds in my opinion. We stayed on three different ones last summer at Norris, loved it!

BigOrange, that is exactly what I am talking about. I think we stayed up at Flat Hollow the last time, and are going back again this year.

Don't know Tennessee boating, but given the choice I'd opt for that house you reserved on the hill overlooking the lake. Right by the water, great view of the lake, privacy, lots of space, without noise from boat traffic or people close by.

Weekdays are not crowded on the lake. Weekend afternoons are a different story.

Go floating house. Something different being surrounded by water, fishing off the deck, hanging out at night, walking 10 yds out the door to have coffee/breakfast on the water before the AM wake sessions.

A house with a boat dock is a winner too. Be ready to walk up a bunch of stairs.

That looks like a neat house on Norris, don't know much about that side of the lake and traffic execpt for bubba brews. Get the frog legs. If your there for the week take a ride down to the dam and check out the history of the lake and dam. Them pick another day and hit up there jump bridge it's in the channel north of sugar hollow. We will be there the second weekend of August.
