Kicking things off for March...

Didn't get to put her in water yet but got her out of storage for a bit of trailer maintenance.

What kind of maintenance you doing on a trailer that new?

I spotted a small puddle coming off the trailer while inside storage. It looked like brake fluid and I assumed a small leak. Well according to my dealer, one of the hub seals is leaking. The actual mileage on the trailer itself is pretty low so they suspect it was improperly installed from the factory. It's getting buttoned up this week as warranty work.

But Josh, you have some great weather in UT. my buddies have been getting some great back country powder that last few days. of course you are wanting to get the water soft instead of hard and white.

Keep the snow coming for the mountain and I'll be OK... just need the freezing temps down here to stop. I live in the mecca of winter sports and I hibernate through it all, I'm ready to get out. Blue skys and freezing currently, back to painting the basement.

Man that would be sweet but also put off a lot of desert boating with the heat. White deck was a safe play I think, I didn't design this one. I like what you're saying though...

That’s what I mean? What are they doing? Do they not put the freeze plugs back on after winterization?

Sounds like something that is milking $300 unnecessarily...?

Hmmm....I have it winterized, store on a battery tender, clean before winter storage.

Then simply fire it up in spring. I don’t see the $200 worth here. None of our area marinas do this here in South Dakota.

Interesting!

It's stored in their heated building. That's where the pics are, I had them pull it into the shop so I could detail it. Basically it's a full-service deal. Some people don't ever touch their boats except when they use it. The marina puts it in the water, takes it to the slip, then at the end of the season, pull it out, winterize it and store it.

dakota4ce
03-18-2018, 11:14 PM
Our marinas do that too—but they don’t get people for an additional $200 summerizing fee apart from the storage fee.

Doesn’t sound like you have a choice anyway.

Thanks for the clarification, why I asked. Our boats are ready to run after winterization.

I talked with their tech. I asked him what needs to be done to run the boat. He said put in the plugs and put it in the water. I've been in the building all winter doing upgrades, so they know I don't need all the hands-off TLC, so I'll be skipping the $200 service. It's mainly for people who don't like messing with their boats.

Looks good under there. I’m about to sit down and order some stuff to line mine also. Had a change in plans on the SA this year (as of about an hour ago), the W6’s are out! Gonna use a set of the new Memphis M6’s under the helm. I’ve been ultra curious about them, loved the old M5’s. Now I just gotta get creative with the airspace. Probably gonna be a 2 part box, built in the helm. First time I’ve ever done it that way.

This thought spooks me every time. What speed were you towing when it flew out?

I've been told not to tow with the cover as it will scuff the gelcoat, either tow with no cover or saran wrap around the rub rails if towing with.

I've made it one season without losing a cushion but it crosses my mind all the time.

I love itZ. They only draw back which I’m sure can be remedied by a good upholstery shop is that it doesn’t have access to the cleats or the fuel neck while it’s on so it’s a pain to use while moored and stopped for fuel on the way the to Lake is a pain. I imagine a good custom shop can get this remedied.

I’m crazy new but finally the goofy looks decent! 100 port, 84 starboard, 45 bow and plate at 60. Who knows if I’m close...

Well they opened up Conroe today at 1200. We decided to get out for a couple hours and run up to party cove. Was a nice day, a little windy but outta the south isn’t bad. Just sat and drank a beer, too cold for us to board! We’re thin skinned! Lol
Met up with a buddy I used to fly with, he brought out his Malibu after they finished rebuilding his dads dock.

SJRA online is showing 63.3°, I’d believe it. (I honestly don’t know if my SA has a water temp sensor lol, I’m still Learning that electronic screen) I couldn’t get in past my ankles! You should have heard Linz yelp when she had to lower herself down to pee lmao...

You guys are soft.

So, I FINALLY got the boat in the water for some spring time action. A little late for me since we were in Breck/Vail mid-month.
Waking up from a long winter nap:

But it was sunny and 60's in PDX, so I had to do it. Water temp was brisk, but fine with the drysuit/gloves/booties.

Ready to hit the water, I was a little nervous that I forgot something. Turns out the only thing I forgot was to bring the tower mirror. LOL

Water wasn't all that smooth on the main channel of the Columbia River, but we had a nice view of Mt Hood.

Got to check out the new waterfront development, along with the new pier that's cantilevered over the water.

Made it to our usual play spot and the water was a LOT more agreeable.

Boat launch was FULL of fishermen and the main channel as well. But in our little slough, we had it all to ourselves.

The water temp was "brisk", but nothing unmanageable with the trusty drysuit.

Are those lights on top of your tower?

They're overhead board racks.

How did you attach the bar stock pieces together? The pad-section to the main-section that attaches to the tower?
SS bolts with a nut on the opposite side?

I think the Corson Piper Overhead racks have allen (wrench) bolts with some blue thread locker on the threads

Gosh, I can't remember if I used one or two on each end, but I'm thinking I used a pair of SS button head allens with SS washers and SS nylock nuts. I'm sure I used a pair so they wouldn't pivot. There was a lot of extra fabric on the FCS pads, so I took up some of that space under the AL flatbar with foam insulation (i.e hidden pool noodle). Works great. I used 1/4" flat, and found that unless I mounted the tower clamps in the center of the long piece, there was too much flex on the long end. (like you see above in the pic). After that pic, I remounted the clamps centered on the long piece. I'm happy with it though. It's the best way to transport the wake foil in one piece.

I am guessing that is the little one who was being born the same time you were giving birth to our towels? Not sure which birth was more difficult. Good to see the wee one up and about.

Thanks! I did notice your change in the mounting. In the one pic, you can see the racks extending past your tower speakers (clamps looks centered on the center bar). In the close-up pic they are mounted very close to the end.

I have the clamps and pads, just need to get some flat AL bar.

I was thinking about having the center bar to be adjustable, but when I looked at your pic I did not see a need. Once I get them mounted, I probably will not be adjusting them or taking the on/off. So a fixed mounting would be easiest.
