I think you can Ed. On the Forum Index page at the bottom. It shows all online users. You can also click on the "Who Is Online" text to see where they are on the board. Not sure if you could do that before.

They should turn off the guests ability to post again though. It makes sense that if you want to post on the board you are a member.

gonna take some time to get used to it.

I miss how you can't see who is currently on the board - or can you?

Perhaps we geezers just ain't adaptive to this new fangled stuff

Stalker!!!

Now if only I could have an RSS feed of new posts....
Oh, wait... http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=144548 there is one.

zing! right over my head - I have no idea what you were showin' us there Wolf.

Seems like you know your computer stuff. Maybe you could tutor people on how not to get email notifications.

Joe will get it...

Instead of trolling the website for new posts, the new posts can be pulled up in an RSS Feed Reader. I use one for viewing new postings to news sites, tech sites, and some blogs. Makes for more efficient use of my "surfing" time. What I linked to was a plugin for the phpBB software that the SC folks have chosen, server side.

Forums, whichever software is chosen, are inefficient.
1. Visit the main page.
2. Hope you have remained logged in to see new posts.
2.a Possible log in again.
3. See icon indicating a forum has new postings.
4. Visit the forum.
5. See icons indicating a thread has a new posting.
6. Visit the thread to read the postings.

vs

1. Open RSS reader
2. View list of new postings sorted by date/time
3. Click new posting and read.

----

I use Feedreader (http://www.feedreader.com), it's free, and works.

AS for the email notifications, I got one this morning, and I'd swear I turned them off in my profile here. [/url]
