I've become a dealer for FAE and I'm going to Start off with a sale. 20% OFF an FAE system. Options are unfortunately not on sale.

Below is the information for the 16/17/18 Moomba and Supra models.

A system for these boats is $520 (retail) for the brushed stainless finish, standard welds, and internal flapper FAE. Upgrading to the blended welds will be an additional $40. This is where they hand polish the outside welds for a more smooth, seamless look to the system. You also have the option of adding the cat-back system/baffle replacement to your boat as well, for an additional $20. (In regards to the Cat-back option: Many boats have a very restrictive muffler/baffle aft of the catalytic converter. The baffle restricts the exhaust diameter from 4” down to about 1-3/4”. Preliminary data suggests that removing the baffle improves engine performance. At this time we have only identified the baffle on the Indmar engine with a single exhaust outlet. If you have a different engine but are interested, look under the engine at the exhaust hose and see if there is a metal coupling tube in-line. Some boats (like Malibu and MB) have the baffle built into the exhaust outlet you removed when you installed your FAE.)
For the installation, you will need Boat Life and we recommend the use of Debond (for the outlet removal of the process). Both products are available through us, or can be purchased elsewhere. If you decide to purchase this kit through us, it is $60 and includes the Debond, Boat Life, and wooden shims. We are currently running an estimated 2 week turnaround (possibly sooner).

Pricing will be increasing Mid December so Order now.

If you have an older boat you can get the information/options on the website. Just go to you boat and follow the steps.

I would love to get this but my dealer has never installed. Anyone know a dealer with experience in MN? I’ll order if I can find someone, not a project I want to tackle

The pics you posted are of your boat with an aftermarket fae installed?
Can you post pics of the inside the engine bay perspective of the install?
Thanks

Also, your images show the drain plug support bracket in place. I thought with the through hull flange the support bracket was not necessary.
Also, looking at the rear pics of the fae! Is the fae only tack welded to the circular flange? All I can see is the top of the flange. On zooming that appears to be the case.
Thanks.

I was told the new ones don't use the drain plug as support. These are older pics. Ill ask about the tack welds tomorrow as well when I call them.

Can anyone comment on baffle removal and overall decibel level??

"Preliminary data suggests that removing the baffle improves engine performance."

I would imagine that removing the baffle would increase exhaust flow and likely increase decibel level....

I always was along the line of thought that not only was FAE better for rider health, it also quiets the boat down.

Must have just changed that—mine installed in August has a drain plug support.

People react strongly to it for some reason, while the reality is you really can’t see it. It’s under platform and kind of obscured by the pipe itself. And, underwater...

Overall boat is quieter. Exhausting under water quiets the boat, even with baffle removal.

My boat runs better without the baffle—Supra SE with 440 Raptor. Seems to surf 100+ rpm lower at same surf setup.

did you have to drill into the hull? First time boat owner and the thought of me doing that is a little sketchy

Some holes are re-used. You do have to do a little drilling, but it’s not intimidating. You seal it up as the new screw goes back in.

I straight piped my Moomba with an FAE, it is very reasonable in tone. I would even say quiet, love it.

So, I was talking with the OP about the baffle. If you buy the baffle from FAE, what does that gain you? Either A) you can't hook up the FAE to the OEM baffle and have to use the FAE one......or B) you can't hook up the FAE to OEM baffle and you can just omit it or use the FAE supplied one. If you gain a little HP without one and it doesn't make it louder it seems like a no brainer to save the money.

Can some one help me on what I'm missing?

The baffle is a stock item. You will want to remove it. It’s inside a piece of 4” pipe which is just before your through-hull. And in my case, was damn near impossible to remove. So, you buy a piece of 4” pipe from FAE that doesn’t have a baffle in it and replace the stock one that does.

That’s all it is. If you’re able to cut the stock one out, you can save the money by not buying their piece of pipe. Mine was welded in like a MF so it was easier just to replace with new pipe.

So, if you buy an FAE without paying extra for the baffle, what are you getting? Something that is basically uninstallable?

No. You can install it with the factory baffle undisturbed if you want to. But taking it out is a good idea and makes sense.

Kurt, I just started this past Sunday on my install! (2016 Mojo as well). I'm at the point of trying to use the debond on the factory flange at transom and then remove the cat in the engine bay. Any tips for overall installation other than what's provided by FAE? Are you able to re-use any of the factory drilled holes for the mount? Also, I take it that you used the machine screws and nuts and not the wood screws?

The instructions that came with it were pretty spot on. I did have a little bit of a hard time getting the old flange off, but it finally broke loose. I used a hammer and stuck it inside the flange and used it to pry it loose. As for the baffle, I got the hose off of the flange at he back of the boat, then inside the boat I folded the hose (from the baffle to the flange that needs to be removed) and hooked a rope to the hose through the exhaust hole and my wife pulled the rope and I was in the boat wiggling free the hose. (I hope that makes sense!) Once I got that hose off I drilled a hole in the baffle and tied the rope to that and did the same thing with my wife pulling. I don’t know if that will help, but that’s how I get them off.

You do not use the old holes from the flange, you have to drill new holes for the machine screws to go through. That’s the easy part!!

Hopefully that helps you out. Good luck with the install!

Thanks Man! I believe that does make sense. Just to check -- once the rubber hose was off the transom flange and then off the baffle pipe, you hooked baffle pipe to rope and pulled through the transom in order to translate it out/off to get rid of it?

moombacraze
02-07-2018, 12:56 PM
Yes, I drilled a hole in the baffle pipe and tied a rope to it, then had my wife pull the rope outside the boat until it came loose.
