Ouch. Why didn’t you do it? Only takes 10 minutes!

I felt bad having them do the other work for free so I figured I’d have them change the oil too since it was due and it’s already there. Last time it’s getting changed there.

I get it. But that does seem steep. Figure 1 hour labor plus supplies. Not sure how that equals what you paid. I let the dealer handle warranty work and I handle the rest. They make money and I save money.

My dealer changed all my fluids for less than that, engine/trans/vdrive. Are you sure they didn't do all the fluids?

Do you have a copy of that invoice?

Dayum.... buy a jabsco oil extractor. It takes me 15 minutes and is very easy while tied to he dock, oil changes cost less than 50.

My dealer was asking $180, I did it myself. I think the filter and oil were around $50.

Just checked the primo muskoka price. Full winterization with drain and antifreeze flush of engine, ballast, heater, plus oil n filter change, plus a few extra nice things is 699 cad . A very reasonable price imo, considering they have been way high in the past. 342 usd for just an oil change is not reasonable. Plus ,they were not working on it for free as im sure it was warranty items.

You hook up to drain tube and it sucks? I need to do this. My in hoist changes are too expensive.

I tested it out with an oil change on my BMW and it was quick and easy. LOVED it.

I'd at a minimum ask for a breakdown on what they charged you for parts and labor!

Have you tested it out on any other expensive awesome high performance German cars that you own? 🤣

My BMW's almost 20 years old. It doesn't even book out at $10k. I mentioned BMW because it's one of the few makes with a cartridge oil filter at the top of the engine, which means that I was able to change the oil without ever jacking up the car. Which would be a similar experience to a boat with a remote oil filter mount like we all have...

But actually, I just like making myself feel cool by pretending I'm better than all of you because I have a car that if I sold it might make a downpayment on whatever the rest of you drive!

I would imagine you could rig something up for the 5 gallon bucket. when I did the oil change on my car, the oil was warm and I was able to simply turn it on, and wait for a gallon jug to get filled up, then turned it off and moved the hose to another gallon jug. didn't spill a drop and it was ready for the curbside oil recycling to come pick up the oil.

That said, you could easily take the output hose and shorten it and have it dump into the bucket. Likewise, if the power leads aren't long enough to reach all the way from the boat engine to the battery, it wouldn't be hard to clip the power cord and simply splice in a longer power lead (1 section of wire and 4 butt splice connectors). I'm guessing it'll be really close or maybe too short for the boat's power run, but maybe if your bucket was on the floor of the boat in between the engine and the batteries it'd make it?

Not sure if I'll do my oil change when I winterize or when I summarize...

They did knock it down for me which was nice however I am not going to get any more service done there. Just simply can’t afford it.

Would you rather go to bed dirty and fester in your acidic sweaty body all winter long or go to bed in nice fresh clean new jammies sheets and skin?........

Oh oh. And all these years I've been taking a shower before I got to work, not before I go to bed!!!

Will the engine disintegrate over winter with old oil in it? nah. Will it really effect its life span? Not really. is used oil corrosive to the soft metals like bearing and pistons, sure. If possible, I do prefer a winter oil change, but I would not lose sleep over one winterizing that the oil didnt get changed.

I definitely agree with you, but if you are going to spend the time to do it you might as well do it right and know the reasons why. But then again sometimes I get lazy and just change the oil and not the filter.........:)

anyone know if the Indmar 345hp surf motor on my 2014 Mojo 2.5 has a drain tube, or do I need to use the hose down the dipstick for oil change?

I believe it should have a drain hose, everyone I have seen has it.
