View Full Version : 16' Fill Times Really Short?

Willyourun

My 16' Helix takes 3:30 to fill the center tank and 7:30 to fill the 1100's in the rear locker. This seems really short compared to the one minute rule most follow. I'm not sure why.

Anyone else have a similar time?

Are you sure those bags and tank are really full? Or are you just going buy what the screen is telling you?

Could they have air in them?

I know my bow seems to always be full of air.

Are they completely drained when you drain them ?

Also a good question. I miss the draining coming out the side of the boat. I've dumped tons of water from the bow hard tank onto the boat ramp several times. I try to make it a habit of turning the empty on after we pull the boat out now.

I don't think they have air in there. I run the fill pumps until water is pouring consistently out of the drain hole. The rear bags seem completely full.

When I drain them, I pick up the rear bags to get all the water out. There is always some water in there but not much at all.

Water comes out of my boat when the bow still has a lot of air in it. I reach into the port amp locker and twist the "blow off valve" to let air out.

what size bags? I'm assuming you have the reversible pumps? In my Supra I'm filling each of my rear 1,000 pounds in 8 minutes. My center and bow actually take a little bit longer.

I want those pumps then, my 1140s take 13 minutes to fill

My boat was a dealer demo. Wonder if they upgraded the pumps? Probably a dumb question but how or where would I check to see the actual pump?

They should be behind rear panel in the bag lockers , I have two starboard and on the port side, intro see what you come up with , because actually filling 1100s in 4 minutes is pretty sweet

I can't believe you are filling 1100's in 4 minutes with the standard reversible pumps. Mine take 10 minutes. Center tank and bow bag is 15 minutes.

Found the pump information. It is a Jabsco 18670-6127. I can't seem to find the exact model numbers online.

Not sure if that what would come normally or not?

Should be the standard pump then , if you are filling them full that quick that is awesome, might want to see a pic of your bags when their full

Will do. I'll try to video it too. Maybe I'm missing something obvious.

I have seen that ballast king pump on wake makers, that would be a handy upgrade at some point, but man would it be a lot to swap all three pumps, the OP pumps seem to fill even faster than the ballast kings though, got to be miss something, or hes just lucky

Might be worth measuring the dimensions to make sure you actually have 1100s. Maybe your dealer told you they were but actually gave you 750s? If not, I definitely want to know your secret.

Bought the 1100's from Wakemakers. I checked that already. That was my first thought too.

I took a video of my fill times so you can see what I'm doing to see if I'm missing something.

Looks like they are getting hung up , I found that after 4 minutes I pull the sides of bags up and do it again at 8 minutes , the bag edges get pinched and it keeps them from filling, with that method it it takes the 1140s I have 13:40 to fill , if I don't sometimes they over flow after about 9 minutes and they fill the entire locker , all they way up to fiberglass lip,

I don't think the bags are as big as you think they are. I have 1100's in my Craz and they take 12 minutes or so and the center with bow sac takes another 5 minutes or so after rears are full. Also, when fill the 1100's are almost all the way to top of locker. Yours resemble how the stock 650's looked when full.

The bags are the 1140's. I just pulled the out and measured them again. They are 25"x25"45".

I'll try to pull the corners up and try to keep the bag from rounding out to see if that is causing the problem.

That should solve it then, I grab in the middle of bag by the engine panels and other side of bag by the carpet

I think I might have found my problem. There is a 7" or so deep channel that is molded into the hull that runs through the rear lockers. When the bag fills up it it is not sitting on a flat surface. Part of the bag is sitting in the bottom of the channel and part is 7" higher. Therefore, I'm losing space for water in the bag. Not sure if the 2016 Helix hull (especially rear locker floor) is different than everyone else's but I think I might need to get a custom bag or use a piece of plywood or something to flatten out that bottom before the bag can fill up all the way. I took a picture looking down at the rear locker floor. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170805/834bfa1e9dcb4c361afef3233a4b9a3e.jpg
