4th of July is always crazy on the water. Launched at 2.30pm and a couple of the guys were crazy enough to want to wakeboard. It was pretty choppy with the breeze and lots of boat traffic

I got in a surf, but it was all I could do to stay on with the crazy rollers in some spots. Still fun though.

THen we got to downtown PDX and anchored up at the Waterfront blues festival. Struggled a little with teh box anchor in a muddy bottom, but FINALLY got it to hold fast the 3rd attempt. Had our stern tied up to a couple yachts. Front row seats for the fireworks.

Me and the girls.

Fireworks launched from a barge on the other side of the river. Pretty much as good as it gets!

Finally stepped up my Knee brace game. The CTI by Ossur is leaps and bounds better than the DME Junk that my orthopedic clinic usually deals with. I had to find a dealer, but it is a great piece of engineering and I think my ACL will be well protected now.

http://i.imgur.com/t3DJlA8.jpg

Had a great after work session on the boat. 90 degree air temp, 70 degree water and remarkably the wind never materialized. The boat launch parking lot really wasn't that full and we didn't see that many boats out playing.

And ended the night riding off into the Sunset.

Went out for some Saturday morning fun. We didn't get to the launch until 9:30am and it wasn't quite smooth enough for me to be excited about wakeboarding. So I we just had a leisurely day and did some surfing.

Ended up with some fun pics...

The Wife's been sick, but that hasn't kept her off the surf board.
http://i.imgur.com/amFkPVw.jpg

Finally got her a new CGA vest and retired the one she'd been using (that I'd bought used from a friend) to be a boat vest.

Having 70 degree water feels so good to us in the PNW.

Pretty happy with how this one turned out. Love how you can see the Doomswell on the bottom of the board and how the bright colors pop.

No need for the Bimini fabric when we've got 2 boards on the cargo Bimini and 2 boards on the overhead racks...

My friend took some time to do a fin comparison. He's over 200 pounds and rides a blunt nose Lakewakes Hooligan 5'0 that came with Futures F4 fins. He then tried the F3's that came on my wife's Sparkplug and then the F2's that came on my Nubstep. Finally he tried the John John Grom fins that I'm currently using. It's no surprise that he is now looking to buy a set of the John John Grom's. He said "it's like a new board". As far as the other fins, he is used to the F4's. And liked the F2's a little better. He didn't really like the F3's as he felt they were an in-between that didn't really for for him as well as the F2's or F4's. But the John John's crushed them all.

Nice, I bet I coasted by your Mojo a few weeks ago...docked over by the main ramp? We have only been there a few times. Mostly go to Salt Fork, as its closer, cleaner, deeper. Seemed like there were several shallow areas and the surf waved suffered. Maybe I need someone else to show me around ;)

Ya. That's me. We have a seasonal spot there. The lake isn't that deep. The main area by the big island and before you go around the bEnd at the other end is the deepest in the ski area. We are down pretty much every weekend. We live in the Akron canton area. Where are you guys from?

Your boat color scheme is pretty unique, but my wife and I would never have yellow on our boat. Just one of those colors that turns us off. (she says yellow gives her a migraine! LOL). It's an attractive boat nonetheless.

That said, the Harlequin boat is a bit much... Looks like someone just threw a box of Crayola's at it. LOL.

At the end of the day, the fact that his G was pink and there's lots of guys like the ones commenting negatively on the pink is exactly the reason why he was able to get such a killer deal on the boat! You guys saved him some serious bank on a color he loves!!!

I dig pink. I'm rockin' it in this pic and I think it totally pops. I'm even wearing the pink sunglasses.
http://i.imgur.com/Sdav6Rh.jpg

Lake Powell, July 5 through July 10. First time back since the kids were born. Boat-in camping trip with two boats and my whole extended family. I was really impressed with how much stuff I could store in the lockers and under the seats of my LSV. I pulled my hamstring pretty bad during the trip so no pictures of me skiing or boarding but it was a beautiful trip anyway!

First morning on the water. Early to rise to find a suitable basecamp.

The kids were pretty into the nearly tame carp at Dangling Rope Marina.

My dad had a pull before it got too dark our last full day at basecamp. I was so jealous, I was gimping around with a hamstring injury.

I was not being negative. Having a little fun. I had on pink board shorts today. My daughters say I look great in pink. I might would even own that pink g. The thing that would stop me from buying pink boat is resale.

And number of chicks I could get with pink boat might be another reason I would not buy! "Hey honey let's buy this one it would be a chick magnet!" Haha.

I think that pink G looks sick, but then again I rock a purple craz. Might hurt resale a little bit, but definitely not performance. I like to think of the flashy color as a warning to fisherman. That way this wave doesn't sneak up on them...

What made you decide to get the JJG's?

Honestly it was your recommendation. I think you said something to the effect that my head would explode. It was between the Blackstick F4 and the JJG. The JJG was available locally. I knew that if I wasn't blown away I could easily resell. And it was worth taking the gamble based on the feedback of people that know a lot more about this than myself.

Bottom line, I trusted your reco and was willing to give it a try. No regrets!

Yeah it's twister. It's a pain and heavy. However, pumping it up is a nice work out before the cold beer and rest that follows. So far though my kids are loving it. I think it has the foam beat because takes up less room and you don't sink.

My son riding the wave. Think we have the wave pretty dialed in but would certainly appreciate some expert eye's feedback as we are beginners. Surf side 1100 had probably 900 lbs, non surf side probably 500lbs, ski locker full, 750 lb IBS near full, suck gate and wake plate at half. Would have filled a little more in the lockers but stock prop cannot handle that much weight. New prop next year. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170716/c11b64d42abd61c942f7d76f46c29aee.jpg

It's rained so much our river has been a bit muddy and we've been out very little. Still, found a nice half-day on the Flint River on Sat. Forgot the suckgate somehow and you can see in the surf pic that the goofy wave is not very good. Can't believe we used to run this way. Anyway, it was nice before the huge storm hit. Got to let one twin pull the other on a wakeboard.

How did you like the Supra?

It was great. The freeboard is amazeballz. We were rolling 4k deep in ballast. #leadwake. there was an interesting line/crease at the top of the wave sometimes that I'm not used to, but having someone on the rear sundeck corner helped. it was plenty long, clean and push for days. no complaints. loved the rear transom storage (we threw vests in there (and lead!))

The open bow was HUGE (though it was hot enough that we didn't spend much time up there. I actually liked the over the tower bimini and the JL tower speakers were good enough for surfing. rope keeper was a nice touch to get the surf rope out of the way. the fold and tumble rear seat is nice for surf sessions and all the pop up backrests were rad. They should have made a garbage can passthrough like the G23 instead of having to make the person in the starboard observer seat move every time to open up the backrest for the trash.

Been doing a lot of garage boating working on a ballast system upgrade. I have about 1 hour left. So far I've added 2 reversible pumps to go along with one I installed a few years ago, tied in the ski locker bag with the bow bag, made the old drain line the vent for this system, upgraded to 1" hose/fittings, added vents for the rear bags (original g1 system so had to drill and add thru hulls), cut a hole to mount the switches, and added 3 timers. I'm in the process of upgrading my ballast pump system too, fun times!
Tonight I'll be fabricating the bracket to mount a pump to the v-drive/transmission and drilling holes in the hull *cringe*.
I'm considering buying those timers as well so I don't have to worry about burning up the impellers.

I don't like the idea of bare hose clamps next to my bags, so I found some 1.5" heat shrink tubing.

Had my first cable park experience yesterday. It was fun (until I realized just what I did, more on that later).

Getting in a little butter slide.
http://i.imgur.com/VTPLmJh.jpg

Finally getting the hang of it. Riding with no fins is different for sure.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3Y3THshxmY

So where the evening took a turn for the worse, is when we went to drive home and my phone was gone. I searched everywhere and no luck. when I got back to the house, I did find my phone and it got nothing. my timeline of destinations showed me at the cable park, but after about 15 minutes nothing... Then I saw the picture my wife snapped just as I went out on my first run. Yep, when we paid, I stuck my phone (with my Driver's License, Credit card, and a $5 bill in the case) in my back pocket of my board shorts and didn't realize it was still in there when I launched out into the lake.

If you look at the pic my wife took, you'll see that outline of my phone in the back pocket. The last time it was seen before it ultimately ended up at the muddy bottom of the cable park lake.

That was an expensive mistake.

Finished out our Skier's Choice "tour de Houston" with an outing on Cactus371's new SA. The freeboard of the new boats is just massive. and the interior of the 22.6 foot is just as big as our 23'.

We got in a few surf sets on Lake Houston, and then saw the storm in the distance. We tried to motor to a different part of the lake, but two storms sandwiched us in the middle. Our only real choice was to ride out the storm. We really liked that freeboard, but even then, with over 3' swells, there were times where we took waves of water over the bow. We actually all put our life vests on (for me it was warmth and a little padding from those big rain drops that were coming in sideways. We were never really scared (though I probably should have been when water came over the bow and washed empty beer cans into the main cabin floor!). And we sure laughed a lot (easier to do when it's not my boat). Eventually the storm blew through and we were able to surf again. The water even smoothed out enough for me to throw the wakeboard on and show them my epic crashing skills (that wake was a little bigger than I was used to).

Since my phone was at the bottom of the Cable Park lake, I didn't really take any pics. THe wife snapped this one as we were running away from the storm...

http://i.imgur.com/5OUqmIW.jpg

I was kicking myself because I forgot I had the GoPro with me on the boat and could have got some rad storm footage.

Props to the Supra SA. it handled the chop/swells like a boss. Huge thanks to Cactus for a fun day on the lake!

So we flew home from TX on Tuesday and had the boat loaded up and his the road Wednesday for 2 nights on Lake Mayfield in WA.

The wife didn't waste any time and jumped on for an evening set and was really happy to be back on her own Doomswell (after riding 4 different boats/4 different Doomwells in Texas).
http://i.imgur.com/hfIeuYG.jpg

The Next day we had the water all to ourselves from 9am until almost noon. Yes, it was cloudy with temps starting in the upper 50's and water temps in the mid to upper 60s. But it was like having a private lake. The wife tried out my John John Grom fins and liked them a lot. I'm going to either have to share or get her a set for herself!

Could it be the Oregon Air National Guard? They fly F-15s out of Portland (which is only about 50 to 60 miles away flying...)

There's also another Air Force Base just south of Tacoma WA, so could have been from there too.

The wife and I did some surfing, and 3 of the girls also got some runs in.

Amazingly the weather and water temp in Portland was good enough to actually float and chill IN the water. I'm always jealous of you guys with warmer water, because I was excited to get 75 degrees here...

Met up with a friend and left everyone in my boat to take a quick zip on the supercharged missle... over 200hp! woo! I saw 62mph before I backed off...

Fun day and temps continue to climb... Triple digits by mid-week.

Definitely an F-18. The Navy must be lurking around somewhere.

Gotcha. I don't know enough to tell the difference. And yes, there's a few Navy bases within a couple hours drive.

My bet would be the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

Naval Air Station Whidbey Island is one of Washington State’s 3 navy bases, and is located in 2 locations in Oak Harbor, Washington. It’s a fairly old base, and it was commissioned officially on September 21, 1942. The primary portion of the base is known as Ault Field, named after Commander William B. Ault, who was labeled as MIA in the Battle of the Coral Sea. The airfield is about 3 miles north of Oak Harbor. The other, smaller section of the base is called the Seaplane Base. Though it’s smaller, the Seaplane Base has most of the housing, as well as the main Navy Exchange.

Seafair is coming up, could it have been the Blue Angels or one of the other groups or solos practicing? Sadly, I Won't be there this year, first time I'll be missing it in ages. I'll miss my views from the middle of the course. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170801/2e6aa0460f29ff9f6b0d59f117bf3403.jpg. (That's my buddy Brian's boat)

Agreed, F15s only have one engine if I'm not mistaken.

F-15's have 2 engines. F-16s have one (lawn dart). The vertical stab on the F-15 is straight up and down, on the F-18 they are about 65 deg. /nerd
