Ballast Continually filling

Hey guys the last couple time I've taken my '04 Mobius LSV out I've noticed the boat taking on a lot of water. I figured it was the shaft packing so replaced that (which needed to be done regardless) but I was still taking on a lot of water. Well last night I opened the right V drive compartment to look for a leak and my bag was completely full! I checked the switches, it was not set to fill. Turns out the bag has a leak it in which is where all the water was coming from. So that bag just continually fills no matter the switch position. Anybody have any insight as to the issue before I start chasing wires? Thanks in advance!!

Probably a failed sprinkler valve. The old gravity I/IIIs used orbit valves that open when the pump is on. If that valve fails in the open position water can be forced through the scoop and into the valve even when the switch is off. It is an easy replacement. I went with motorized ball valves that also helped my fill times. I would check those valves first.

Just to confirm, when you say you checked the switches, are you referring to the switch that is on the valve, not the dash, correct?

Me too, what a HUGE upgrade. Fill times down, much more reliable, no passive filling either. Highly recommend. I have the Amazon link still if needed...

Well, both actually. I made sure I hadn't hit the fill switch by the drivers seat on accident. Then I checked the switch on the valves. To be fair, I'm not exactly sure what position the switch on the valve is SUPPOSED to be in, but I made sure it was the same as the other two and those bags weren't filling.

I just cut the deutsche connectors off the old ones and soldered them into the new valves and finished with some shrink wrap. It is an easy swap out.

Remove your sprinkler valves, take apart and clean them. I think they need to be in the "ON" position or water runs right through them in the "off" position. Ben a while so check this by blowing air through. Unless energized you should not be able to do so. Good luck.
