New around here, but learned a lot through the forum the last few weeks. We just pulled the trigger on a Red 2017 Mojo Surf Edition.

We swung a deal to sell our Yamaha AR240 and the dealer is delivering our Mojo Friday morning. He will do a water demo for us and then we will head out for the campground with new boat in tow.

Any advice on what I need to check, confirm, ask or otherwise make sure of in the delivery and water test with the dealer rep?

Also, opinions on breaking her in. My plan was no ballast until I get 10 hours, but after 2 hours do a little ballast free wakeboarding and pull the kids on the tube. Dealer says that is fine but curious as to other opinions.

Common sense, keep rpms below 3000 and keep RPMs varied is the plan.

My thought about the break in period... did you water test the boat? Did you stay under 3000 when you did it? Did all of the other people that may have driven it stay under 3000? Did the factory test the engine, and also keep it under 3000? I just wondered about all these things when I got my new boat.

Personally I babied it till I hit 20hours. They can pull the logs of the ECU, so if something bad happened they could say "tough shit, you didn't follow the break in schedule!"

Have dealer install 1,100 bags in the rear. You will be glad they did. Adjust gains and crossovers on whatever amps it will have installed.

Have a knife and mask before doing watersports.

What's the worry here? Rope in the prop?

Comes with 900s in rear, 3000 total, I was thinking about 500 in steel to move around.

Like Russell said, a new Moomba anything without 1100's in the rear is almost useless for surfing unless you weigh 100 lbs. or less. I know it probably says "surf edition", but it's not until you make this change.

Trust us, its better to be prepared. I have a whole thread on it here somewhere from early May.

You may never need them. But the first time you do, and don't have them, you will regret that decision.

Cannot reiterate this enough. 1100's or more or nothing. Otherwise in about a week you will be posting on here that your wave is too small and has no push. Seriously!

I did my break in according to the Indmar manual. 1 hour at each rpm range and then the remainder of the hours as the manual states. I would hate for 10 hours of breakin to ruin my 7 year warranty.

Make sure you had the depth finder option installed. I couldn't believe this was an option. I bought my Mojo as a new dealer demo and luckily the depth finder was installed, I never even gave it a thought. Something like that you just assume is standard on a v-drive. Make sure you got it since it sounds like yours was a special order.
Congrats and enjoy. I love my Mojo.

I ordered one also and wasn't clear on how the weight was distributed (center and front) also the specs say something about 1k pounds?

My dealer confirmed my understanding. Standard ballast for the boat is 2000. 1300 in rear lockers (650 each side), 700 hard tank under floor.

MAX surf upgrade is 3000. 1800 in rear lockers (900 each side), 700 hard tank under floor, 500 ibs bag under bow seats.

900 rears are nowhere close where you need to be in a mojo unless your at max capacity. 1450 Enzo's FTW!

Agreed, have the dealer install 1,100 in the rear. It improves the surf wake.

I have a 17 Pro. It is useless for surfing unless you are 150lbs or less. I can surf ropeless at 225lbs but there's not enough push to do anything but sit in the pocket about 5 ft from the boat. I added 230 lbs of iron(for test purposes only) to each side and the difference was unbelievable. I think it will be perfect with 1400's but it's hard to give up all of the storage.

Most all conversations center around the rear locker upgrade, but have folks also upgraded the 500# stock IBS bow sac? I assumed that anything bigger wouldn't fit but I have to admit I haven't really went inspecting under the bow seats when the front is full. Can you get a bigger sac without pushing the seats up and stuff?
