Maybe make your own?

That really sucks. I am guessing they also took the brackets as well? If you are going to buy new shaped one you are probably looking at around $1,200 all in with paint etc from what I have seen on here. An older stock '07 used one will probably cost $200-300 to ship at least.
I just finished making my own. I have to keep my old platform because if the wife doesn't like the new one the old one goes back on. I went to a dealer with a big piece of cardboard and traced a 2016 Craz platform. I drew it out in Adobe Illustrator, plotted, traced, cut, routed and sanded a piece of 1" HDPE which cost about $300 all in. I topped it off with Black Tip traction mat and done. I may bevel the edge of the mat still.
It is not installed yet but I will take some pics tonight. I have the plans I can e-mail you or I have an extra set i already printed you can use as templates for the platform and the mat and I can send you those.
In the mean time if you still have the brackets you can quickly make one out of wood with some kind of traction to get you through the weekend.

What color is your boat? I have a stock platform (no brackets) that has been sitting on the side of my house for a while... I can't imaging it would be cheap for shipping it though. it's heavy as hell and undoubtedly oversized.

When i had my moomba i lost my platform while moored on the lake in a bad wind storm. I had to have sc build me a new one. It was for a 02 lsv and it took about 7 weeks to get it as they build them from scratch for older modles. I believe it cost me about $750 shipped to my house. However i did have to have the dealer order it for me and just asked them to direct ship to me.

my boat is red and black but if you want to get rid of the one you got cool I could have it painted. I know when I talked to skiers choice they said the shipping from tenn. was about 250 I'm assuming it would be pretty close to that from wash. do you think you might wanna sell it? I would certainly be interested please let me know thank you

Well, I could look into how much it'd be to ship. I get pretty good fedex ground rates through work. I'd need at least a zip code to get a shipping quote. If I shipped it to a business address, it'd likely be a little less money.
Let me know what you think would be a fair price for my platform before shipping. I'll also measure it to see if it'd fit in a box I have around the house... I have a couple of boxes that could work.

Ground Shipping per the fedex website is somewhere around $165 as a ballpark. I might be able to get it for less, but no guarantees.

Ok so i just checked with S.C. the price for the platform new is 550.00 so I don't know what do think is fair. The shipping is what it is. Is it blue like your boat doesn't matter just wondering

Best price I have seen on here by far. Is that one of the new shaped platforms or the old one? Just wondering.

Once I get it boxed up I'd be able to get a final shipping quote.

I'm going to start a new thread on this as well but thought I would share. This is my version of my surf deck, similar to 5:00's but a little wider and minus the hand holds. I couldn't bring myself to get all the way down to 53" width from the old platform of 69 1/2"...

It's still raw but sealed with 2 part marine epoxy. I plan to sand, buff and install an 'affordable' pad on it within the next 2 weeks.
It worked flawlessly last night, wave doesn't touch it at all, in fact I could make it about 2" wider on each side and still be out of the wave development. Nice long, clean wave on both sides of the boat! Thanks for the comparison template 5:00!
For the majority of our riders:

Why not cover it with black epoxy for better aesthetics and protection?

That is certainly a good idea, had not given that much thought up to this point simply because I don't have any black pigment to add to my epoxy. I was planning on sanding and polishing the existing epoxy covering and then spraying an oil based with hardener gloss black coating. Epoxy might be fewer steps... Amazon here I come!
After testing mine this weekend I found it could be about 6" wider on each side. I wish I had taken a pic of the water going by it. There was about 6" between the deck and the water coming off the side of the boat. The smaller deck works fine but you are going in the right direction of the wider platform. My wife and I were both surprised how much taller the wave was without the old platform digging in. It may even save us some fuel as well? Your platform looks great, keep up the good work!
How thick is that wood?
aerolland
06-07-2017, 03:23 PM
11/16" A-C sanded plywood, $26/sheet at my local Lowe's. Not out much money if I decide to remake it. Took about 4 hours (not including dry time) to get to what you see but now that I have the shape and the history, I think I could remake in about 2.
Can't bring myself to pay $400+ and a 3 he round trip drive for a sheet of starbord even though I love the stuff. Plus I like the platform being thicker than 1".
30" back from the transom is a lot of leverage on those mounting screws...

I used 3/4" HDPE because it was a lot more cost effective than 1".
I got a piece of black 3/4" Smooth 24" x 54" HDPE shipped to my office for $130 all in. (or I could have doubled my material and been $260 for 1.5" thickness)
24" of depth was plenty for me. my width was enough to reach to the tie down loops on the stern.
Yours looks pretty awesome though. Turned out amazing.

Thanks Trayson. I've followed many of your threads and look forward to more to come. Next time you're in the southeast drop a line, there's always a wave waiting for ya!
Several of the guys last night said it looked cool as is with the wood grain showing, I thought it was kind of ghetto myself but it was just R&D at that point. I've given some thought to making another and staining it black like Walnut then sealing it with clear epoxy. Still would stand out though and not match the jet black of the gel coat. Still undecided. I do like showing up with things that are not factory though... :)

Thanks. If you can make it darker, and then put some hydroturf or equivalent on it, you could sell yours easy. someone with brown interior might like that.
Then make another one in black for yourself.

Not a bad idea. I'd have to source new brackets I guess. Plus, that would be shipping almost a full sheet of plywood by weight. Might get pricey just like ordering one from a dealer.

anyone that is in the market for a surf platfrom could reuse their brackets. you'd be selling just the platform that they could bolt up to their brackets. And just see if you could find a local person to buy it. It would be easy to change the width of the mounting strips on the bottom to accomodate someone with different platform bracket width. you could even sell it to someone with a different brand of boat. I'm sure you could get a local sale.
