Fuel consumption Raptor 6.2l 400.

Hi everybody,

I will soon receiving my new Craz surf max edition with the 6.2l raptor 400, I'm curious about the fuel consumption.
can you give me some data??

Too late now. In any case it all depends on how much ballast you're using and what speed you're running. Just now it better than the older boats but about as far away from a Prius that you can get.

I run around 5 gph with over 4k of ballast plus crew. That number drops a bit depending on crew size and how many beginners are on the boat. The stop/start with that kind of weight is what really gulps down the fuel.

That consumption isn't too fare off my 345 Surf engine. We average 4-5gph when surfing and cruising at 22 and below.

The older 325 Assault was a gas drinker at 7gph lol

I don't know why but this thread cracks me up! It's a 6.2L V8....not a V6 with stop-start and cylinder deactivation. If you can afford a toy like this, mpg should be an afterthought ....get your buddies to throw you some gas money once in awhile. LOL

I pay $1.08/liter or $4.15/gallon at the fuel station but it can be as high as $6.50/gallon on the lake. If the boat is that much harder on fuel I might go with a big tidy tank and pump set up in the truck box to off set the cost.

I'm was just curious, because my old engines burn a lot off fuel under heavy load and because the fuel in Holland isn't cheap.
Like $1,72 per liter.
I don't mind to pay for the fun, but my customers will :)

Highly recommend a wheeled 15 gal gas can with hose and pumphandle. I pay $1.89/gallon at the costco for the 87 octane (10 gal) and $2.05/gal for the 93 (5 gal) Math that out and you get 15 gal of 89 octane for $1.95/gal. Stop on the way home from work or as you can to stay topped off and all is well.

Same gas consumption as my lightly loaded DD with a 310 hp engine with the carburetor (now a novelty item). It is important to get a good guess on fuel consumption because you can be more accurate than the gas gauge with knowing the approximate consumption along with the hours used. Sad that the gas gauges haven't changed over the years.

I burn off what remains towards the end of the day/weekend, no point taking it all the way home again!
40l in 15/20mins and a bit of fun and noise to boot if the lake is flat. But hey that's just me.......

HAHAHA I can get that goal in just 3.5 hours of WOT lol.

I only watch my fuel consumption now because I live on the lake, a BIG lake and the Marinas are spaced out. When in OR I filled the boat every time I went out so no big deal.

With it on the lift at the lake, I fill at the Marina and last year I almost ran it out of fuel.

Left the house with 1/2 tank, (so the gauge said) cruised up to our favorite party spot. Tank showed just under 1/2
Went to cruise home and took a Right instead of a left at an island. I suddenly realized I didn't recognize the bridge we were going under.

Once I figured it out and turned around, made it to the lift the gauge was reading E for a while LOL.

The next morning I added 5gal by hand, then cruised to the Marina 1 mile across the main channel, it took 42gal to fill my 50G tank. Meaning I had apx 3gal left.

That's a little to close LOL. Now we fill at 1/2 tank all the time LOL.

Plus the $200 fuel up stung a little LOL.

Ouch! $4 a gallon on the water? Highway robbery! On Conroe they have a shell and a Valero on the water and the fuel is the same price as on the street

Thats actually cheap from what I am used to, in OR you pay $3+ on land and normally $5+ on the water LOL.

You have to remember TX has some of the cheapest gas in the country as well.

$4 on water is pretty standard out this way (SC/GA). We do have one place on my lake that does $3 if you pay cash, but that's because he may/may not pay the extra taxes since he also has land pumps on the sake tank.

And Mike, if you don't have the wheeled gas can for your lake house, you need to catch up to the times. I may live on the lake, but that's because I fill from the town. Takes me 10 min to fill 14 gal and saves me $30. Worth it.

Raptor engines are made to use E10. Doesn't matter at all, that's what they said when I asked the indmar people at the boat show a few years back.

The manual says E10 is ok, that is due to the fact that Ford says so. Indmar on the other hand is not a fan....your boat, your choice
Not being argumentative. Just pointing out it may not be the best long term option. Also notice the manual says "Top Tier fuel only"

Last fill I got 4.1 gph on my first outing of the season, with a tank fuel from last fall, 4500# ballast and a crew of 4. I'm not even sure how that's possible...

I've ran E10 all along. 05 With 1036 hours on it. No problem
