Is the wiring harness going to the speed paddle suppost to have a bare wire in the mix of other colored wires? Boat 2005 XLV with P. Pass. Cause I'm getting weird speed indications but if i move the cannon plug around pp works great. I know I have a loose wire but which one .....don't know.

I found out that the bare wire is the depth finder ground wire. I have not found out which wire is loose. Hunter the grey plug is what connects the the paddle wheel speed sensor to the brain of the PP. this a reoccurring problem, the dealer said they found a loose wire and repair it Ops check good. But it's doing the same thing it did before they looked at it last time. I think you should use the RPM mode instead of MPH, I returned to using it in that mode and PP works consistantly. Good Lucky
