Too much smoke on start up,

When i start my engine there is a considerable amount of smokeduring the first 30 secs of warm up. I have a 99 outback carbed engine. It has always done this although maybe a bit more now. Otherwise engine runs fine. New plugs make no difference. Just an annoyance . Maybe the auto choke is set too rich?. Any input welcome

Thanks Doug

My 98 does the same thing. It's unburned gas and it does it when the engine is cold. It's been that way since I bought it. A bit of an annoyance.

If the smoke has a blue tint to it then it is probably worn valve seals which let some oil seep through when the engine sits for a while. They are fairly easy to replace if you are handy.

The smoke is black white, its unburnt gas, i have no oil loss. i'm just thinking it is a little excessive.
thanks for input
