Rather than purchase a new boat I'm thinking of adding surf Tabs to my 04 XLV. It surfs good with a suck gate, but I want a great wake that I can surf further back to get more speed to do 360's and stuff. I heard there was a moomba dealer in Mesa AZ installing tabs similar to some of the new boats. I'd like to do a custom install myself. Anyone with any experience. I plan on spending a couple grand and get the LED gauges/switch and have a good sized tab on each side along with my wake plate. I looked at the new Tige/ Moomba/ Nautiques and they all have fairly large and similar surf tabs.

Reach out to Boonejeepin. He's tried about every variation anyone can dream up on his XLV.

My buddy, pslitty , who is also on the forum has the gosurfassist system on his XLV, we installed it together. Works really well, but even better with a suck gate that I made.

If your interested in a set of Autoflow tabs from a 2015 Mondo let me know, I'll sell them at a great price. They only had 60 hours of use.

Surf tabs allow for transfers but the suckgate seems to give me the best and easiest surf wave. I found that the tabs have to be pretty big to work effectively.

russ,

where do you mount yours and do you have pics and size of it ( probably somewhere on this forum)

I also installed the tabs with lenco actuator and control system. (Homemade system) on my supra 21v I finally got mine dialed in after two summers and 4 different sets of tabs and about 10 different modifications. I am running a 18" wide by 16" long tabs with a pair of fins angled in the center of the tabs to get a good wake.
I like using my tabs but after using a suckgate I would not spend the extra money on the tabs. There were some at the ST Louis Mo boat so for $200 I think that would be the route I would take.

I would just get a nauticurl and call it good. https://nauticurl.com
Think of it this way, it's just a $200 investment to try this before you spend $4000 on the go surf assist set up.

I installed the Wakeland tabs on my 2007 Supra 22' SSV last summer. Mixed results. By the end of the summer I still had some wash in the wave-lip I could not get rid of. It took a lot of playing around and I still do not have it the way I want it. It was very weight sensitive for surfing each time we went out.

For wake-boarding, it worked good and the boat got on plane faster. I set both tabs down all the way. The boat pops-up and gets to speed. The tabs automatically retrack to the up position.

I would say the same, buy a suck-gate and get on with surfing.

That last pic is with 2 of us on the boat. I was playing around with ballast and speed.

Contact WakeLand and see if he'd hook you up with the new 2.0 tabs. They are direct replacement and are night and day better 🤙🏻

Your tabs are the original auto flow tabs from 2015. Those are what came on my 15 Mondo. 2.0 blades came out on the 16s & I immediately called to see if they were a direct swap. They were so I bought them & never looked back. I have a thread around here somewhere about it. Search Autoflow 2.0 tabs.

I am considering having a dealer install tabs similar to the ones on the new Tige' boats. $3500 installed and the are bigger than the autoflow 1's. Not sure if they are as big as the autoflow 2 tabs. The dealer has done a bunch of installs on Moombas (XLV and LSV's) and I chatted with them at the boat show in Salt Lake City. Sounds like the suck gate can still be helpful as well. Anyone gone that route?

I've seen it first hand. Do they help? Yes, is it perfect, no. We still use a "suck gate" device to clean up the wave. The biggest thing they do is reduce the need to list by changing the ballast distribution from port to starboard. Honestly, try a suck gate first and see what you think. It's going to be a MUCH cheaper experiment.
