View Full Version : Lighting ideas?!

My craz is definitely lacking in the light department. I'm looking for ideas, advice, opinions. It's not too hard to find companies that sell lights and I'm not afraid to spend whatever to get nice stuff but I just want to see what everyone has had good luck with. Cup holder lights? Convenience/walkway lights? Speaker rings? Underwater lights? Let's see what you've got!!! :) :)

I bought led strips off eBay for like 10 bucks and tapped into my cabin light. I love them.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170216/df087145aeab7f8fa90a3a4315c1d3cb.jpg

Dusty did mine. We broke mine up into 3 RGB zones (does not include underwaters) with some compenents from China. Cupholders rings from Earmark. Led strips from amazon. The speaker LED's are Wetsounds OEM.

If I were to do it all over again I'd definitely do zones and probably go RGB vs single color. More complicated install but more fun in the end. If you do bow lights you might at least consider a separate circuit or an in-line dimmer for them - running at night they really hamper your forward vision.

I did single color of blue. Next up is white cup holders.

I have 4 interior RGB zones and a 5th transom RGB zone. Wetsounds rings on the inboats and Rev 410s, Rings from Earmark on the transom Cupholders. Things have changed since these first photos, added the Speaker rings to the inboats and all speakers are now wetsounds.

Boats look great guys!

Can anyone link me or give me a name brand or something for the led light strips?

Also, are there blank switches on the dash I can run these too that are already powered? '

Here's a lighting idea for you....slight tease before I start a build thread.

I did red on the trailer and in the cabin/bow and white in all the compartments. All on switches.

Happy to help, it's pretty straightforward.

How do you control all the lights?

The trailer lights I installed a switch in the trailer wiring. The interior lights I just used an unused accessory switch on the dash.

Here's a photo of the interior.

Guys running multiple zones what controller are you running?

KG's Supra24

We used the t3m for single remote control of all zones. The controllers, 1 per desired zone, were t3-5a wireless rgb controller.

What are you guys using to mount the light strips? I got some that have the double sided tape on the back but I'm just not sure if it will hold for long. Any ideas?

Interested in some of these lighting ideas... new thread or can we get this one revived?

Specially interested in the led strips ppl are using, the earmark cup holder leds and wetsounds rev10 rings.

How are most of you attaching the strips?

Is most everyone happy with the earmark led cupholder lights? Couple pictures I've seen, they look really thick. Not sure if it's a reflection of it it's actually a double row led.

Has anyone installed their own wetsounds OEM ring? How hard is this?

The strips have double sided tape, but I prefer to use some silicone or super glue, depending on placement.

The earmark rings are pretty thick, but they are made very well.

The REV led ring install is not hard work, it's just a bit tedious in drilling the wire hole and making sure everything is in place. I have had a few where I broke a contact on the LED strip itself by not having everything line up, and other that were flawless. Just work slow and carefully and you should not have an issue.

I made my trailer lights on the top of the frame rail so that they function as LED Runway lights for night time docking. It's pretty rad and honestly makes it easier to get on the trailer straight at night. Plus, it turns a lot of heads. Mine are controlled by an Attwood digital bilge switch so they come on as soon as the trailer dunks in the water.

Cup holder lights?

I think that by far the best cupholder light solution are the ones that they put stock in the Malibu 24 MXZ. they have translucent barrels and chrome plated lips. the LED's are actually inside the barrel. I think they look a lot better than rings around the cupholder lips. And it looks badass when you have a clear container that ends up glowing. The LED cupholders can be found on Ebay for $8 to $10ea.

(you can also see my LED angel eyes that light up my speaker cones and the plexiglass LED rings that light up around my speakers...)

That looks CLEAN for sure. I'm happy with how mine came out. I saw the OEM trailer runway lights on David/Cody's new Mojo and I could barely see them in the water at dusk. For me on the runway lights, brighter is better. I'm guessing that you used brighter runway lights than Boatmate is using. IMO, if you're going to go to the trouble of runway lights, make them bright and useful. (hence why I wouldn't have mine pointing down at the ground)

I'm not worried about the install, just only want to do it once and sit back and enjoy or do other projects.
